  1. My surgery triggered my period early. I had maybe 5 days left before my period was due to come but ended up getting it the night of my surgery. Imagine being in the hospital recovering from surgery while dealing with a heavy period and those terrible hospital pads and underwear. Nightmare. ?
  2. Yup. I went to the ER when I noticed the lump under my largest incision. Imaging found nothing to worry about. My surgeon told me it’s just normal tissue inflammation that will go away with time. I’ll be 7 weeks out Wednesday and the lump is gone.
  3. I weigh daily, in the morning when I get up, in my birthday suit. ? But I’m going to put my scale away for a while. I feel myself starting to obsess over the number and pick myself apart about what I must be doing wrong. The truth is I’m following my plan and doing some moderate exercise (walking and light weight lifting) but my weight loss isn’t nearly as fast as I had hoped. I’m 6 weeks out and have lost 18 pounds. So right now I’m in the process of adjusting my expectations, trying to celebrate my NSVs (like the fact that I’m wearing pants I haven’t been able to wear in years!) and trying to remind myself that I’m so early in this journey, my body has been through a lot and I need to appreciate the process even when it’s tough. I wish the same for you!
  4. As I understand it, everything you’ve listed are known “sliders,” meaning they go down easily with little to no restriction. Solid food will definitely be different. I can easily down Greek yogurt but 2 oz of thinly shredded chicken salad in lite mayo fills me up!
  5. All very normal. The cramps were so bad for me the first week home that it woke me up at night. Everyone’s given great advice. Just follow it. You’ll feel better soon. :)
