  1. Hiya fellow august rebirth people

well its been two years for me and i would not change a thing started this journey at 361 lbs i no longer take any meds i excise every day eat for fuel not for comfort or depression any longer the head work has been more important to me than anything dont get me wrong i still have my moments of depression and try to move forward with that and learn from those every day most of the time i am helping others and focusing on them and i have relied on there problems and the fixes for them to help keep me busy and not focus on myself which has been a problem for me always put others ahead of my self (the problem solver) well i see a pattern returning with that .so with that said i really need to stay focused on me first then i can help others .

today i weigh 186 lbs this morning and have a new out look on life the tool i was given has changed me

for the better for me and my future life thanks for giving me a place to not be judged and let out emotions that dont come out of me in person to person conversations i am getting better at letting people in my bubble still not good at it

I wore real clothes again 😂

However I realized I'm choosing extreme comfort over fashion these days and I'm Ok with this lifestyle

Ugh I know that feeling not about the surgery as I don't really talk about it much but I get that same response about depression people tell me I just need to go for a walk get some air or excercise like really you think I havnt tried that in the last 30 years give me a break lol trust me I wish a walk cured depression and PTSD lol ugh

Sent from my moto g(7) play using BariatricPal mobile app

those are all real feelings that dont go a way with a walk or exercise the head work with a group or individual counseling has been amazing for me as well as a few support people i reach out to who have been through the same thing along with this board the board brings inspiration and hope for those getting started and answers for those in the beginning and transition and then for the maintenance phase we are all on a road to better heath and happiness for our self (best thing i ever did for ME) only you can choose whats best for you!!!

Just got off the phone with an old friend whom I haven't seen in years (since I was normal weight), and he was telling me about his current life plans/ projects (quitting drinking and smoking). I should have listened to myself and not mentioned my surgical plans, but I did. Silly me. He had a lot of opinions about it and how I should just do the diet and exercise thing again (knowing I have debilitating back issues that preclude me from doing a lot of exercises, though I do try.) I didn't tell him just how much I have to lose because I'm rather sensitive about it in my in person life. (I live away from my "home" area now and don't have too many in person friends anymore, so I just haven't posted any pics of myself publicly in a while.) He was well-meaning, but he claimed that regular slow diet and exercise means you won't have loose skin.... he has NO IDEA wtf he's talking about. He has a super fast metabolism and has NEVER been a BMI over 24.9 in his entire life. He recently lost 30lbs going from 24.9 to like a 22 and thinks that the reason he doesn't have loose skin is because he did it by being active... I tried explaining that 30lbs doesn't really cause loose skin, but he was insistent. I even explained that I was already saving $ for my PS surgery after but he was insistent that if I did it HIS way I wouldn't need it- even after I reminded him about when I lost 95lbs THAT way (working out about 2 hours per day) and still had loose skin anyway! Thankfully, he picked up on my frustration and changed the subject, but UGH!!! THIS is why I don't tell people- SO. DAMN. FRUSTRATING. Also, mansplaining, wtf?

some people dont understand the struggle obease people have depression is a huge part of the process at least it was for me the head work is as important as the exercise and food intake keep you chin up and you have plenty of support here we are all in this together on this site please reach out to the vets we all have alot of experience with the process dont be shy we are here for you and your success cheers !!!!

    Hello all!

Fairly new to the posting community. But during quarantine I found this app and I’ve been reading all the love and support that you all give one another!!

    I’m joining the bandwagon!

I got my surgery date as of about a month ago! I’m going under the knife on August 10th. So I’m less than two weeks away!

Does anyone have any tips for the pre-op liquid diet? I started two days ago and I’ve most been drinking Tomato Soup, broth, Protein Shakes, juice and Water. It’s started to get old, an I’ll be in this stage for about another month!

TL;DR: I’m in my 2 week liquid diet and I’m looking for some tips.

congrats we will all be here for your support Water is your friend the more the better

In addition to the above I just have a few questions:

    1) Do you need to have a liquid diet in the weeks leading up to the surgery?

    2) How painful is the surgery and how quickly can I resume work? (I'm a delivery driver who delivers light packages).

    3) How soon after surgery can I eat solids?

    4) what happens if you overeat?

    5) Does the stomach expand in the months and years after surgery meaning you can eat more?

    6) Are there any foods that you absolutely cannot eat?

    7) Do you regret having the surgery.

    Again, thanks in advance!

1.my plan was one week prior so yes

    2. i went back to work in one week

3.it was about three weeks give or take

    4. for me i would puke it up

5.yes it is only a tool and you can cheat !!!

    6. everyone is different for me yes red meat dont work well for me

7.this tool is the best thing i ever did for myself

dont kid yourself this is not for the faint at heart it is something you must want and want to make the changes and exercise and do the head work to have the success you are looking for almost two years out and maintaining 160lb weight loss easy no !! lots of work with great reward !!!!

I think the biggest thing I've gained in all this is that I don't HAVE to live in large t-shirts and oversized hoodies alllll the time. I can actually buy more feminine clothes and actually feel good about myself. Granted the black shirt is loose fitting it's also a size L. The grey shirt is an XXL and the light blue hoodie is an XL. The jeans in the newest picture is also 2 sizes down from the 2018 picture and 4 sizes down from the oldest picture.

you have achieved the success you have worked for keep up the hard work great job!!!!
