  1. Thank you, @Neversaynever. Our surgery dates are very close together. I hope my hair loss slows down soon, too!
  2. Thank you,@redhead_che and @S@ssen@ch. It's good to hear from people who have been through it. Fingers crossed.
  3. @Rexcom: I started bariatric multivitamins immediately after surgery. My protein goal up until week 10 was 75 mg/day, and I was diligent at meeting that goal daily. At week 10 my protein goal was decreased to 60, and that's where I think things went wrong for me. I started losing hair right around that time, but didn't put 2 and 2 together because I was meeting the prescribed goal. I had my second post-op visit about 2 weeks ago, and the nurse practitioner said I should have stayed at 75 mg. This got me pretty upset because I had been following the instructions in my patient handbook to the letter, and the handbook clearly said to decrease to 60 mg at week 10. Maybe my hair would have been ok if I had stayed at the higher level all along, and maybe my weight loss would have been more consistent (I alternate between long stalls and big drops instead of steady progress). I feel like I wasted 2 months. I increased back to 75 mg and started taking biotin at that point, but no improvement yet. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
  4. Thank you. I've been taking Biotin but I've never heard of caffeine hair products. I'll give it a try.
  5. Is there anyone out there who experienced significant hair loss, who can tell me how long the shedding lasted, how long it took for the new growth to begin, and how long it took for their hair to return to normal? Pleeeeeeaaase? Thanks in advance!

How are the May sleevers doing?

I am down 56 pounds since my pre-op visit...I'm feeling a little underwhelmed, but I know I wouldn't have done as well in 5 months on my own. The weight loss is not steady at all: I have big drops and then looooong stalls. Still struggling with significant hair loss. Anyone else?

When will the hair loss stop?

OK, getting back to my original question,..😉 Is there anyone out there who has had significant hair loss and can tell me how long it lasted, how long it took for new growth to begin, and how you dealt with the new growth/uneven lengths? Thanks!

    Hungry

Me too. I feel much less restriction than I expected, and I'm hungry all the time. I have definitely not had the no ghrelin=no hunger experience. You're not alone.

When will the hair loss stop?

    LLysine? Is that a supplement?
  12. I started noticing increased hair loss at 2.5 months post-op. I'm almost 4.5 months out now, and I'm still losing handfuls every day. My hair is looking terrible. Can anyone tell me how long it takes to stop falling out? And how long it takes to start growing back? I'm very careful about my protein and vitamins, so I'm really surprised it's been this bad. I'm open to any and all advice. Thanks!

    Hunger after sleeve...

I did NOT have the experience of "no ghrelin=no hunger." I have been hungry all along. But it did get better when I began eating solid foods.
  14. 1. What made you choose the Sleeve over the Lap Band? High rate of complications and failure with lap band. 2. Have you had Hair loss with the Sleeve? Yes. It is not falling out in clumps or anything like that, but I definitely notice more "shedding" in the shower and on my comb, and some loose hairs on my shoulders throughout the day. Nobody else has noticed; not even my hairdresser. 3. What can you absolutely NOT eat now with the Sleeve? Any intolerances or aversions I had prior to surgery got worse. And I have trouble with foods that are dry or hard. 4. At what point did you know you made the right decision with the Sleeve surgery? About a month out. The first month was very hard. 5. What as been the best tool you've used in keeping your weight loss progressing? I write down every single thing I put in my mouth, using My Fitness Pal to track calories and protein. And I exercise an average of 5 days per week. These are all good questions. Good luck to you!
