This looks like WLS Guidelines. Are you in Texas around the Houston area?

I've never heard of someone with an instinctual "stop" for Water consumption...
Start as soon as you get up, and keep a bottle with you at ALL times, including next to you while you are sleeping. And just keep drinking. It's easy to get up to some serious numbers this way. I can hit over 150 oz of water just by keeping my bottle full and with me at all times.

I feel the exact same way. I hope we both get answers to our problem.

Thank you for stating this. I'm only post op 10 days and it's hard to see my family eat whatever they want. I am struggling with barely getting protein down and Water, while they consume spaghetti, burgers, fries, etc. I know I did this for me, but the support I have is not always supportive of my decision.

ahhhhhh that is a great way to put it But people will still dumb it down LOL I have not told the public but only a few close friends and my pastors. I did that on purpose because I did not want to have to deal with added stress of having to explain to people or try to explain and then seeing their judgement because they truly don't get it. I would rather avoid having persons speaking negativity over me during a time when I am striving very hard towards positive change. To me, that is just wisdom.
My blood glucose has come under much better control than what it used to be but I am still using insulin (FAR less than before) Even with weight loss I have to watch sugar and carbs in the little that I eat. The main factor in me doing this surgery was to come off of insulin and improve my health. Looking better is honestly just the cherry on top

I am feeling the exact same way. I'm depressed because I am having issues drinking any fluids. Did well with popsicles but the doctor told me it's false telling on how full I am. I even made Protein filled and she said I need to go back to drinking it through a medicine cup. I can only get 1 ounce down every 30 minutes. This is my frustrating part. I hope it gets better and I hope the same for you as well.

I don't have huge mirrors at my house, and was a little shocked by something new I saw in a dressing room yesterday...
Dressing rooms are really the only time I get that full view, you know? With the extra mirrors that show you your body all the way around.
So yesterday I was changing clothes and went...holy crap....MY BACK FAT!
    LOL!
My back fat...all the weird little extra ripples, the bra bulge...the icky little segements that made my back resemble a roly poly insect....are GONE!
My back is looking all sleek and shite:) Like, with a nice dip in the middle and shoulder bones and everything. It is a damned fine looking back!
I've been looking at my lumpy front....which, don't get me wrong...has improved significantly...but I've got a little extra skin (looks better than expected!)...but still, it never occurred to me to check out the back.
So yeah...that made my day. Still makes me smile.
When I go to the fat lady prom this fall (they don't call it that...it's a formal wear celebration event put on by my surgeon's group...where we walk a cat walk and get to Celebrate our skinnier hotness..LOL), I might have to consider something backless:)
    Looking forward to the extravaganza!

Yes, it can take some time for it to resolve, though many with either the sleeve, bypass or DS will walk out of the hospital free of meds and insulin - it's a big YMMV thing. There does seem to be some correlation with the length of time that one has been on medication and/or insulin and the time it takes to go into remission. My wife had been on medication, just short of being insulin dependent, for about twenty years when she had her WLS and it took the better part of a year for her to be fully off all of her meds - and that is with the stronger DS (remission rates typically 98-99% vs.85ish% for the RNY and VSG.) So, while you may be amongst the unlucky 15 % or so for whom the bypass doesn't work, there is still a lot of hope that it will.
    Good luck,

I would just remind them that this is about you and not them. Tell them that you’d appreciate it if they spoke nothing else about it unless you brought it up.
or you could ignore them. I am finding that people hate being ignored and it’s better sometimes than even giving a reply.
If they ask you how much time you’ll be taking off, tell them you already discussed it with your supervisor. It’s none of their business

We are surgery buddies. I had my procedure the same day. I am experiencing the same issues. If I eat popsicles it doesn't give me that awful pain, but if I sip Water or my Protein Shakes I get that tightness like I swallowed nothing but air. I see my doctor on Thursday and hopefully will get some help as to what I can do or expect and share what I have learned.

I do not care for my surgeon as a person, but as a surgeon I know he's well-qualified. Obviously, it would be great to have a surgeon that didn't talk and behave like an ass, but if you're willing to overlook his bedside shortcomings in exchange for a competent surgeon, then feel confident that you made a good decision.
Do I find your surgeon's comments inappropriate and sexist? Absolutely. Would I have wished that I had the perfect comeback when he made his disparaging remarks about women who want to build healthy muscle? Absolutely. My guess is that you're mainly peeved because he got away with saying what he said, and you weren't able (out of sheer disbelief perhaps) to challenge his asshattery. Instead of being able to express yourself fully with him, your only outlet (and a less satisfying outlet) is to vent here.
I doubt if I'm alone as a woman in feeling hesitant to speak up for myself. As a survivor of childhood sexual abuse, I often "flew away". It took years of therapy before I could rid myself of that shame.
In some ways, I was conditioned, as are many women, to be shrinking violets. There's also the issue of status involved in your case. We've been taught to respect certain professionals, doctors included. So, here you are confronted by a male doctor who completely caught you off-guard by basically equating unattractiveness with muscles. Heck, we're already fat and feeling bad about that, now to be told that to build muscle is unfeminine. Wow. Imagine paying an insurance co-pay to hear all this crap.
It's important for you to be a strong self-advocate. You are taking a life-changing step with weight-loss surgery, so why stop there? For your own self-respect, I'd politely but firmly revisit this conversation by letting him know that you were offended by his views on women who lift weights and press him about whether there is a medical reason for you to not lift weights or if this was just his subjective view.
If you read my profile statement, you'll discover that I had a negative hospital experience with my doctor. Yes, I vented like crazy here and elsewhere, but as soon as I saw my surgeon at my first follow-up appointment walking down the hall (I was actually supposed to see a nurse practitioner for this visit), I approached him with confidence, touched his arm, and said, "Dr. S---, I am not very happy with you. In fact, I'm very disappointed." He was so taken off-guard by my bluntness that he escorted me into the exam room and spent 45 minutes worth of damage control on me. You can imagine the bewilderment of the nurse when she walked in and he was with me. She probably thought she was the one in trouble. The point is, I took back some of the dignity that I felt had been taken from me previously.
Yes, it was "just" a statement about muscles, but where do you draw the line? You wouldn't be here venting if it didn't bother the becheezits out of you.
Believe me, you'll feel better about yourself for at least trying to stand up for yourself. It might not go over well, maybe you feel clumsy getting out your words, but it's better than saying nothing. Practice self-advocacy until it becomes second nature. The older I get, the easier it's becoming. When you don't speak up for yourself, you are essentially giving the other person the power and permission to put you down.
