I am over a very large group of people. I have only told two, people at work I consider friends, neither of whom I manage. I would counsel against telling those who work for you and to keep it to a small very trustworthy group if you do decide to share with anyone at work.
The way I look at it this decision is very personal, as are the struggles we have been through to get us here. It is not anyone’s business other than our own and our loved ones. I certainly don’t feel it’s the business of those who report to me. This journey is hard enough without opening yourself up to judgement from those whom you have a professional relationship with. IMO it is all downside with very little upside.

Hang in there, strawberry. it gets better. it really does. Your hormones go crazy after surgery and alot of folks get the post surgical blues.
i remember at that stage I tried to drink more chicken broth and gagged. it started to taste like a sweaty chicken armpit. LOL.
It's a tough time...but you're so close to turning the corner. Brighter days ahead, I promise!

Just like me!!! I have a love hate relationship with the scale. I’m almost as addicted to the scale as I am to food!

OK, found a use for all the statistics I took in college (6 classes)
    Odds of pregnancy using stated odds = (1-.91) x (1-.85) = .0135 or 1.35%, so 98.65% effective.
But are you going to be happy if you're part of the 1.35% just because the numbers worked for you?
Personally, I was ultra cautious. My husband and I used 2 methods a lot of the time if we really wanted to make sure we didn't get pregnant.

You’re not gaining weight, the scale is simply up two pounds. These fluctuations are completely normally. Get used to it, it will happen often, down 5 up 1 etc.. As I’ve read on here before, weight loss is not linear.

I’ve only told close family. For me I couldn’t think of a good enough reason to tell colleagues. Will they help me in achieving my goals? Not likely. Do I value their opinions on health issues? Nope. Do they need to know? Absolutely not. Will it make it hard to work with them if they say something offensive? Absolutely. I like to keep things simple, so I kept work out of it.

I didn't for this surgery, but I have in the past. My hubby stayed home to get the kids off to school and by the time he got to the hospital, I was already in surgery. Didn't bother me, but I'm not much of a Nervous Nelly.

Welcome also, we are a fun group of people, sometimes very humorous, some days we cry with you, some days we'll cheer, but we accept and live and let live for the most part. We do,occasionally get Cranky Claras and Clarences, but that's just a part of life. Ask any questions you'd like, we will do our level best to give you a well- thought-out answer.😜

Welcome! This is a very supportive and friendly community and I'm sure you'll receive a lot of great information. You may want to do a search for "band" to find people with your specific surgery. That isn't done nearly as often now. However, most of the advice is relevant whatever surgery you have done.

SydneySleever reacted to sleevedinschool in Need advice for my unique situation (specifically two months post-op)
Hey everyone! My VSG surgery date is set for June 4th, but I feel that my situation is pretty unique in that I'm a graduating high school senior about to go to college. I'll be on a meal plan and will have access to good quality food, so I'm not too worried about that. However, I'll also be in marching band, which means that I have to go to band camp in August. As of now, it sounds like it'll be six days, from noon-10 pm, and we'll only be outside from 6-10 (so I won't be completely dying from the Georgia heat).
Since I'll be two months post-op at this point, what advice do you have for me to stay hydrated and make sure I get all my Protein while being on someone else's schedule and while having a smaller stomach? How did you physically feel two months post op? Any other general advice for going through college while losing weight from a sleeve?
I'll definitely use a CamelBak so I can sip on Water throughout the day instead of trying to drink more during water breaks, but that's the most I know at this point. I'll make sure to keep this updated as I learn more about how camp will work.
    Thank you!

I’m not telling anyone at work. I’m only sharing this experience with my husband. I’ve chosen to keep it private as it is one of those things everyone likes to give their opinions on, whether you asked or not lols. It’s hard enough without helpful friends/coworkers giving their advice.
