  1. Hey girl, I understand being down but really, I think you're going to be SO happy about this decision. You're so young and when you lose that weight it will be faster than others and your skin will have so much more elasticity. Girl, you've already lost almost 30 lbs.!!! Amazing! I totally wish I would have had this surgery earlier. I'll have to let some veterans respond but I'm pretty sure I've read somewhere about a hormone flush after surgery where they can get a little out of whack? You're on to something though about the isolation feelings. I felt a little bit of that too during recovery but know that this is your very special time all to yourself to heal. Start walking outdoors and get some fresh air. Then, get comfy and watch some Netflix. May I recommend, "Money Heist"? So good. I binge watched and finished it in like 2 days. LOL Every day is going to get better. You're going to be able to eat and drink like everyone else (just much more less) down the road and you'll be so skinny! You've got friends on here. Everyone is so supportive.
  2. I'm 16 Days Post-Op and my left side pain is really bad too. It's hard to bend down and get out of bed. I wonder if I over did it one day and pulled something? I'm sitting in my office chair with a heating pad on. I've read that it can take 4-5 weeks. We may just be a little slower to heal.
  3. @frust8 - Congratulations on an almost surgery date!
  4. For sure take those softeners!! It won't do you any favors to be constipated. I had a little set back over the weekend with a stomach bug or something. I had to get some IV fluids to catch up, but otherwise all is well. I agree on the stool softeners! I've been taking them daily and have had 3 BM's in 2.5 weeks. Awesome job on the weight loss @New challenge! @Hal711 - I'm so sorry about your stomach bug. Glad you were able to get fluids and seem to be back at it again. 3 WEEK STALL - who has experienced it? I've been sitting at the same weight for 4 days. Daily weigher still. I'm sure that will change over time.
  5. Nice to hear everyone's updates on here. Sounds like we're all losing, trying to keep hydrated and dealing with the left side pain. Every day gets better! I'm wearing a dress today to work. It's been like 9 or 10 months since I've worn a dress. I feel great (aside from a kidney stone that I'm trying to pass).
  6. Wishing you good luck at your doctor and hope you get some relief. I'm back at work today for the first day after 2 weeks off. I brought my heating pad and it's helping with the throb in my flank area. I've been sitting pretty much most of the day so I'm sure that the rest and the water I keep sipping is helping. I'm crossing fingers and toes that this too shall "pass".
  7. LOL - this cracked me up! I have never heard of an extra nipple. Too funny. P.S. - Thanks for all the love and watching my channel! Too sweet. LOL about my cat. That's my Ragdoll, Romeo. I'm not sure where Juliet was sleeping.
  8. I saw that and will add it to my list to ask the doctor tomorrow. I was wishfully thinking the crystal light would suffice. Haha. I'm like you though, and haven't been able to take that many ounces in yet. I know it will get better with time. My dad has had troubles too with kidney stones but hasn't had any instances for 19 years. He drinks cranberry juice every day.
  9. That's fascinating. I've never met anyone else like this. I have one on my right which does 60% of the work and two on my left which do 40% of the work. They have fused together (so unfortunately cannot donate) but I too have 3 individual working ureters. Do you have trouble with kidney stones?
  10. @AshAsh1 & @Missouri-Lee's Summit - I have been convinced since last night that it's a kidney stone. Thanks for the helpful articles. I've had 3 kidney stones already (all at once several years ago which needed to be lasered off while under anesthesia) and my Urologist told me at the time that I had more in my kidneys but it could take years before they move out. I actually have 3 kidneys. I know, weird. I think what happened is that when I thought I was dumping, I was actually passing a kidney stone from my Kidney to my ureter. The pain was seriously like death. It was awful. I hope this is not going to be an ongoing issue. I think you're right that the surgery helped speed up the kidney stone process. I'm sure I'm dehydrated. I'm drinking the crystal light lemonade right now. Hope that helps. I have had a constant throbbing pain in my left lower flank area since the Tylenol wore off last night. It's not debilitating but definitely aggravating and constant. I'll call my surgeon tomorrow. Hope this too shall pass without any medical assistance.
  11. Don't you worry at all. You're not taking much in and so there isn't much to put out. I didn't have my first BM until the other day and I was 10 days post-op. I was taking colace daily (stool softener). It did hurt a little but at the same time felt amazing to go. I had another BM 3 days later (today at 13 days post-op). Things will get moving again. My doctor had no concern about the delay.
  12. All of you have lost SO much weight! CONGRATULATIONS and thanks for responding. I do appreciate it. That whole episode was so scary for me. Since I'm so freshly post-op, I'm really not eating much and I've had the same liquids/foods for the last week with no change. @GassyGurl - are you saying that you eat the same thing for 10 days and it's not until the 10th day that you may dump on one of the foods? @SGirl35 - Thank you. I will certainly keep my eye out, and I'm not having another Flinstone. I'll call my doctor on Monday to discuss what happened. @Biddy zz - your Christmas cake episode sounded awful. I honestly don't think I could have doubled the time of my pain. 45 minutes would have been too long. Good heads up on the Quest bar. I saw someone eating one of those on a YouTube video and thought I'd love to try one later down the road. Now, not so much. The label on the vitamins didn't provide much detail. There was only like 2g added sugar and so the only thing that stood out in the ingredients was the glucose syrup. My other vitamins do not have that and nor does my yogurt or any of the other foods I've been eating. It didn't say how much syrup was in there. @AshAsh1 - I really hope it's not a kidney stone but you do have me thinking. I've had a few before and they had to be lasered out. Not exactly looking for another surgery any time soon. I think you're right that time will tell and I'll just have to see how things go. Thanks again for all of you responding. Appreciate it.
  13. OMG, I literally thought I was dying (I'm 13 days post op RNY Gastric Bypass). I was watching Netflix with my son, when all of a sudden I felt sleepy and had instant back pain. I told my son I was going to lie down upstairs. I went upstairs and took some liquid Tylenol for the back pain. Suddenly I felt flushed, rapid heart beat and the pain in my back became unbearable. I couldn't sit. I couldn't lie down. I just sat at the edge of my bed rocking and moaning and dizzy. Then, I felt pangs of pain, kind of like inside under the top of both rib cages on both sides. I couldn't stop trying to breathe the pain out and rock my body back and forth and moan. I felt dizzy and a little hot and felt like any minute I was going to faint and have to be rushed to the hospital. It took about 20 minutes of intense pain and then it disappeared. Was this Dumping? I retraced my steps and diet today and I had one change and that was that I took a Flinstone Multivitamin 2 hours ago. I told my doctor the other day that the Bariatric Chewable multi-vitamins tasted chalky to me and I could barely stand them. He recommended Flinstones. I just checked the ingredients and there is glucose syrup and sugar in them. Has anyone experienced these symptoms? Could it be dehydration or is this typical dumping? Sorry, so new to all of this still and I did not take a nutrition class so am learning from all of you and whatever I find online. This was super, super scary.
  14. You go girl! Love reading this. So encouraging! May I ask what your stats are/were? Where you began in weight, your height, etc.? How's loose skin? How far post-op you are? I've yo-yo'd all my life and LOVE life thinner. I can't wait to be back to where you are now. You're so right about "the food will get replaced with things far better".... Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels.
  15. Hi! So we're in July and we've officially all made it through our surgeries! PHEW & YAHOO! I lost 12 on pre-op, gained 10 in hospital and then lost all that plus 4 more by the time I reached today (1 week from surgery). So, I'm down a total of 16. Eating and drinking is near impossible. I'm getting hardly anything in because I'm so full. I'm sure every day will get better. CONGRATS to all!
  16. I'm so sorry for that long drive. I can only imagine! My surgery was Monday and I stayed 3 nights in the hospital, so Thursday my Dad picked me up to take me to my house and the drive was 40 minutes or so and I literally felt every bump in the road. Is your left side killing you? Mine is. I basically move back and forth from the couch to bed. Yesterday I got in 29 ounces. It's so hard! I feel so full all day. Even the vitamins feel like a huge meal. Haha! I've been watching YouTube videos all morning and going back to weight loss surgery patients early videos post op to see if their experiences are similar to mine. I plan on taking a new video today or tomorrow and uploading. You can find me under "Little Kansas Kitty" and feel free to subscribe. How are you doing with your fluids? Did you weigh yourself already?
  17. Welcome @BearsBeetsBarbells! Congrats on your surgery. How are you feeling? Mine was Monday, 6/25.
  18. @Trixie82 - You're so sweet to check in on me. I do think today is better than yesterday but definitely slow and minimal improvements. I'm not sleeping as much as I was in the hospital so that's a plus. I have almost 30 oz. of liquids in, but man it's hard!!! Getting up from the couch or turning and getting up from bed is very painful still so I'm staying on the pain meds for a bit longer. Some of the bloating has gone down but it's very minimal. I'm so happy I still have 9 days left to heal before work. You have had an amazing healing and have lost so much weight already. That's so awesome. Keep up the amazing work. I'm headed into an evening of Netflix binging.
  19. Ok, thank you for sharing! I just took two tiny sips. Maybe tomorrow will be easier! I did get the bags of vitamins/fluids this morning through the IV so hopefully I’ll be ok with the wee bit I got in by myself. Tomorrow is a New Day!
  20. @Trixie82! I’m so jelly of your numbing shots. That sounds incredible! What a relief you had. I’ll count day #5 as lunch time approaches tomorrow and see if I’m feeling much better after another night and morning of rest. ?: do you guys feel that sensation after a too big of a sip and feel it going down to your pouch? How long after 1 sip of water do you wait until you take your next sip? Are you drinking all day?
  21. Thank you so much @Trixie82 .... did you count surgery day as #1? If so I’ll be at day #5 tomorrow. I just want to be able to move without so much discomfort. I know today was better than yesterday so I’m hopeful tomorrow will be even better. It’s crazy how almost all of us on here have had surgery now. Sometimes when I wake up, I have to pinch myself and remember I’m already on the other side. I keep forgetting.
  22. RobR44134 —- thanks for the tip. I may take some of the Gas X to see if that helps. Awwwww Yes, KC to Cleveland still has stops and makes for a long trip. You’ll love KC. I don’t spend a lot of time in Olathe but can definitely recommend my team at KU Med in Overland Park.
  23. You’re doing awesome @Hal711! I wish I could take that many ounces in. I’ll focus on more tomorrow. Also, sorry for the TMI but I tooted a little this afternoon. Felt great to get rid of some of the bloating. Haha.
