    No meat

Okay so anyone else have a complete intolerance post op with any kind of meat. My pouch doesn’t like it and I don’t care for it either. I prefer veggies and that’s about it. I’m not really getting any protein in other than the drinks which my program wants me off of. I’m over a month post op right now.

    What is that

    No meat

I may just do them anyways. I am tired all the time and it’s because I’m not getting anything.

They consider them a slider food
  5. Anyone else get extremely annoyed when they’ve had to get IV fluids and then weigh the next day and you’ve gained a few pounds?! I understand this happens (especially when you got 8 bags within 48 hours) but ugh it just frustrates me. The IV fluids weren’t for dehydration only - I had a stricture develop and had to stay overnights until the surgeon could get me in to fix it. I had finally gotten under 200 lbs too and now I’m back right at 200 lbs... Oh well I guess.. Now I’m just focusing on my fluids and sticking to my nutritionists advice.
  6. Anyone else have a issue with laying flat in bed post op? I Can’t get on my side and my tummy feels extremely weird if I lay flat. Any ideas?
  7. So just want to see if anyone had a problem with this but I LOVE pickles! They were my favorite snack before surgery and my NUT said I can’t have a actual pickle yet but a dill pickle snow cone is fine. Problem is it gave me some serious bathroom issues like Went down fine but 20 minutes later I was having “never trust a fart” issues. What the actual heck caused that because I seriously didn’t think that would be a issue and neither did my NUT. 🤦🏻‍♀️ I’m almost 4 weeks post op and on my second stage of soft foods (fish, deli meat, stuff like that). Sorry for the TMI but I’m seriously confused on what the deal was.

    Pickle snocone 😩

Lol thank you! I’ll have to try again when I’m feeling brave and very close to a restroom. 😅

    Pickle snocone 😩

You're still in the "introduce new foods one at a time and see how it goes" stage. Try again in a few weeks and see if you can handle it. (Maybe bring it home so you have a bathroom handy ) Yeah I’ll definitely have to try that. I’ve been having a extremely bad time with introducing new foods. I got sick one time but I pretty much just dry heaved and made myself vomit because my chest pain was so bad. I threw up a few tiny bits but it was mainly foam. Is that what everyone calls foamies because I never want to experience that again. Since then it’s been hard for me to not be terrified of eating.

    Pickle snocone 😩

Honestly I didn’t think about that. Thank you! That very well may have been the issue. Hopefully later I can do those because it was the best thing I’ve had since surgery but it made me have some pretty rough issues!

    Pickle snocone 😩

No. I made sure of that when I ordered. They literally take a jar of pickle juice and dump it on there.

    Water?

Im 2 weeks post op tomorrow and having some issues with water, propel, or any liquid. I can keep it down but it feels like it’s getting stuck on the way down or like I’ve got air trapped. I’m not using straws or anything like that and taking baby sips. It hurts in my throat and chest area. I have a appointment tomorrow at 1 pm but I really can’t go that long not drinking anything. Anyone else experience this? It’s happening with any drink.
  13. I had the most productive day so far since surgery. I’ve been behind on house work due to surgery so I got some stuff done today. I cleaned bathrooms, kitchen, bedroom, and did all the laundry that had piled up. I felt so good for being productive but now I’m having a severe burning/ pulling pain in my left lower abdomen and back. It feels like someone is stabbing me if I bend down or try to straighten up. It’s not incision pain because it’s below my incisions. I took 20mg of liquid pain meds from hospital it was hurting so bad and it is barely touching it. It only doesn’t hurt when I’m sitting in my recliner. I had this pain right after surgery for a little over a week and it’s way worse now. I can’t handle how bad it is. I think it’s nerve pain or something with the muscle but still. :’(

    Burning stabbing pain

I’ve been trying to take Tylenol and I’m so thankful my job isn’t very demanding. It’s never a issue until I go to bend down or something. I start school back August 7th and I’m freaking out that I won’t be ready to go for my clinicals. I’m in nursing school so I’m needing to be ready lol. I asked my doctor about it but I don’t think he’s understanding what I’m saying because he said it was incision pain. I’ll just have to show him I guess at my next appointment.

    Burning stabbing pain

I may have to rest for a few days. I went back to work a week and a half after surgery with no issues and bending hasn’t been a problem either. It’s just all of a sudden now it’s a problem. I definitely probably just over did it.

    Burning stabbing pain

They said no physical limitations. Just said if it hurts stop. I didn’t hurt while cleaning or doing the laundry but it was afterwards. I sat down and went to get up and was hurting bad. I’m just not sure what the heck.

    No limit on food amount?

I’ll have to definitely keep that in mind!
  18. My NUT doesn’t give us a certain amount of food to stick to at meal times... I’m seriously afraid to eat because I don’t want to get sick or bust the staple line like I’ve heard of on here. I don’t get a full sensation and I’ve read several different things on what causes hiccups when eating after surgery. I don’t know if this is my signal to stop or not but I also don’t want to push it to find out. Any suggestions? I’m a few days over 2 weeks post op. Thanks!

That would be awesome! Thank you!

    No limit on food amount?

Yeah. I’m on soft foods now. My NUT gave us a list and basically said nothing else except what’s on the list and that we don’t have an amount to stick to just to listen to our bodies. I thought that was really weird that she didn’t give us a portion amount to stick to with us all being so new.

    No limit on food amount?

I’ve been using my timer on my phone and take 1 bite per minute. I chew slow and play on my phone. I may also get some slight left shoulder pain as well because I ate more than I have since surgery (wasn’t very much still) and I didn’t hiccup but I did get some aching in left shoulder so I stopped and then hiccuped lol. I ate like 1oz or so. So it wasn’t very much.

    No limit on food amount?

That’s weird you can’t tag me or quote me... but I think mine may be hiccuping. I’ve noticed it a every time I eat but I wasn’t sure

    No limit on food amount?

The pressure in our pouches is lower than with sleeved folks for whatever reason. But assume that your pouch is the size of a walnut or egg. and work around that for a while. Your full sensation might return. I don't feel full like I expect to, but I get to a point where I'm just "done", I just don't want anymore. Happens at different times for different foods. Don't they still have you on Puree'd foods? Most bypass folks I've seen are on 1 month of puree's to ensure everything is healed up proper. We start with a 2 week liquid then 1 week super soft foods and 1 week of soft foods that are more dense in protein. Then we go to what they call our lifestyle diet that’s regular. I’m on the 3rd week and they gave us a list of recipes or food items when can have and told us not to stray from them at all. They don’t tell us how much to eat they only say to listen to our bodies. It’s hard to listen to your body when it’s not sending signals still.

    No limit on food amount?

Thank you! I’m just afraid to hit that max point and get super sick. I’m sure it will get easier with time
  25. I just now got to start eating soft foods and I took a few bites started to hiccup and figured I should maybe stop just in case that was my “signal” that I was full. Honestly I’m afraid to try to eat because I don’t want to over do it. I’m following all my NUT orders for eating but still just worried about not getting a feeling of fullness or whatever it is that says “hey stop”.
