    Food Funerals?

I like that wording- Hopefully I will feel so much better about all the activities I will be able to do that I won't perseverate on the food I won't be eating. That's the plan, right?
  2. I am in the same situation- hoping to get my surgery scheduled before I have to go back to work in the fall. Are you a teacher?
  3. Hi all, I'm close to your stats a bit higher. I am hoping to get insurance to cover my surgery- almost done with all the hoops. I have sleep apnea so that is my comorbidity that I'm counting on. I'm at 37 bmi right now- super hopeful about not having too much saggy skin but at 52 I know my skin is not as elastic as it once was. Looking forward to hearing all your success stories!
  4. Gramma rusty how are you feeling three weeks out? That's awesome about getting off all those meds! Keep us posted on your progress please!
  5. Thanks for the pep talk. You ate right-this is most definitely for me! Well me and my 11 year old daughter. After meeting my husband in my thirties then failing to conceive after two years or so I had to do IVF two miscarriages till I was finally able to stay pregnant had my darling daughter and then when she was 5 i was diagnosed with breast cancer. Now that is all behind me but with every year and every challenge my weight got higher and higher. Now I'm pre diabetic, high blood pressure sleep apnea and I'm just tired of being tired. I can't wait to get fit and healthy!
  6. Hello- I am 52, I'm currently working on all the pre-requisite hoop jumping! I have one more appt. with dietician, my cardio appt. 2 wkshops and a final appt. with surgeon before sending in for insurance approval. I am nervous I won't be approved and worried because my spouse is not on board with the idea of surgery (he's never been overweight). I just want to get fit enough to really enjoy the next 20-30 years of my life! I had an acl reconstruction surgery last year and have a hard time walking up stairs. I sound like I just ran a marathon after two flights of stairs. Hoping so much to qualify to get this tool to help me.
  7. Hello, I'm new to the site. I am just completing my 6 mos. of dietician visits. Hope to get approved and scheduled for surgery in July or August. Anyone having bypass this summer?
  8. Yes the insurance here in the US is a big issue. Many insurance providers do not cover weight loss surgeries at all. Others make us jump through lots of hoops before approval and lots of folks get turned down the first tome they apply. All this despite many studies that show surgery is the only solution that is effective in the long term for so many that suffer with obesity. I understand things are getting getting better, however.

  10. Congrats on getting approved! Do you knit? That's what I do when I'm anxious!
  11. Well I'm hoping I'll be getting surgery right around then! I'm having bypass. You?
  12. Hello Everyone- so glad to find this group. I am hoping to get approved for a summer surgery as I am a school teacher. I will have my last of the 6 required dietician visits June 23 and by then I should have all the other hurdles jumped! Had my psych eval which was no big deal and am just waiting for the cardio appt. June 18. THen my paper work can be sent in for approval. I am worried that my borderline numbers will keep me out. Anyone in Rhode Island or CT?
  13. HI - you look like a pro here and I just joined.  Hoping to get approved for bypass in July or Aug.  My height and weight is similar to you when you started.  Do you mind if I ask you about saggy skin?
