Non Scale Victories
I keep doing this too!! I'm down to a 14 now, so I don't need to be in the plus size, but I feel like an impostor when I take 14s into the dressing room. Wow. Our minds are scary things sometimes aren't they?

Help! Need to get out of my head. :(
So I just hit the halfway mark to goal - 51 lbs. down and 3 months out - and mostly I'm thrilled. But yesterday I spent the entire day feeling like a loser because "why did I let myself get that big to begin with????" "How could I have done this to myself???" I'm trying really hard to focus on how wonderful this journey is, but my messed-up mind keeps wanting to obsess on the mistakes I made in the past that got me to 272 lbs. I'd really love some advice/tips from those of you who've battled this mind-trap and won. Tks.

Non Scale Victories
I went on vacation and had a wonderful time. Wore a swimsuit without clutching my coverup around my butt/thighs. Went PARASAILING!!!! Went snorkeling. Walked up and down the stairs all week on the cruise ship instead of taking the lift. So. Happy.

How often do you weigh yourself?
Daily, except I travel a lot for work. This weekend I had a three day conference/day of vacation in a resort place and ate vacation food. I was prepared to have gone up a pound or even two, but it's fine because I'm home and back on target. But I lost 3 lbs!!! I think it was all the walking on the beach and in the heat. My reason for daily is similar to what many have said - I want to catch myself if I start to go up several days in a row or something. 10 weeks out and 48 lbs though - hooray!!! I feel SO good.

Airplane! Whee!
Just had to fly for the first time post-op and it was SO much better! I didn't worry about squeezing myself down so my thighs didn't squeeze over. And I was at a yearly event so nobody had seen me yet and I had people coming up to me ALL WEEK telling me "you look amazing!" "you look so healthy!" After all the work/trauma/etc., it felt wonderful. Hang in there, new sleevers - it gets better!

Cheez its, my little snack
Right? It's good for them. LOL.

Fighting the Negativity
Honestly, this is great advice for all of life, and how I live mine. When people give me unsolicited advice, I give them such a wide-eyed look of shock, like "I can't believe you have the balls to weigh in on this personal part of my life!" and often that's enough to make them back off. When they don't, I just tell them gently but firmly that my choices are mine, and they should concern themselves with their own. If they persist after that, I get Seriously Blunt.

Fighting the Negativity
There's probably a bit of envy/jealousy in there. You said she is very large, and clearly all this diet and workout routine advice she's sending you hasn't worked for her, either. I'd gently but firmly suggest that, although you appreciate her concern, you're fine doing things your way just as she should do things her way.

Cheez its, my little snack
I totally get it. I've made lots of dinners and treats for the family, and I'm also giving them a lot of healthy food. They were a little shocked at the steak salads (no potatoes? No bread?) we had one day this week. LOL. But I usually cooked healthy food before, too, and sweets don't tempt me at all (put a pile of chips/nachos in my way and watch out, though!!). But I'm like you, Ash, I like to feed my family. It's an expression of love. xo

How are the May sleevers doing?
Yes, probably gas. I had it horribly until I started taking a Zantac every morning and a Nexium every evening. Now I'm fine!

Stall question
I just gained 2 but I had heavily salted movie popcorn (I know! I know! Terrible!) and I'm annoyed at myself. I didn't go through all this pain to waste my life eating movie popcorn. #lessonlearned

WOOOOooooOOOooo
Huge congrats!! On all of your news!!

Hitting the gym HARD!
I am also hitting the gym hard!! I hired a personal trainer last week and am meeting with her once a week and doing the exercises on my own in between - I want to do lots of weights to build muscle and counteract the loose skin problem before it starts. I also started the Couch to 5K running program yesterday. I used to be a runner, even did a half-marathon years ago, but haven't for a long time. Trying to run with 42 excess pounds already gone is AWESOME! So much easier than when I tried last year. Re: playlists, I do a different thing - I listen to comedians on podcasts/shows. Laughing makes the time, esp. on treadmill, go so much faster. I also listen to audiobooks and ONLY allow myself to listen to the book at the gym, so I'm anxious to go back to find out what happens next! Good luck and keep it up, everybody!

100 down from lifetime high 11 years ago!
CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!

Regret it
Bajan this is kind of concerning. Should you really be able to eat a 'ton' only 5 weeks out? I'm 7 weeks out and can still only manage about 2-3 tablespoons of (real) food at a time. By real I mean not chips or ice cream or anything like that, which is supposed to go down easier. What did your doc say?

How are the May sleevers doing?
Wow, 90 grams is a lot, and you're only 5'6" - I'm 5'11" and the nutritionist told me 75-80.

How are the May sleevers doing?
I was 5/14 and today I'm down exactly 40 lbs from the weight I was at my doctor's office on 4/14 when I said, Never Again. Yay! Two clothes sizes down; I took two giant Hefty bags filled with clothes to Goodwill. And you know what I noticed? they were all black and gray and long and bulky -- "hiding" clothes. Never Again to that, too! I'm buying one or two pieces at a time, in colors, and no more bulky hiding stuff. Tuesday I tried yoga for the first time and yesterday I had my first session with a personal trainer. I'm going to do everything I can to make this succeed!! (Even if it includes a lifetime dependence on Nexium.) Good luck, everyone--it's so good to read your stories and feel like we're all in this together!

I hate protein shakes
ordered ! Thanks!

Nexium - 14-days every 4 month limit?
I've been reading all the posts about reflux and Nexium, but mine I just bought says I can only use it for 14 days and then not again for 4 months. I feel like I'm going to need it a lot more than that. Is there an exception for VSG patients? Thanks for any advice.

I hate protein shakes
I'll try it. thanks!

I feel so down
This is SUCH good advice! Just compared a pic of my face from before the surgery to now and it's like I'm a different person!!

Perspectives on Losing Fast & Slow
I had a one-week, maybe 10 day stall of being stuck at the same number. Then I went out of town unexpectedly from Sat. morning to Monday afternoon, had to eat out every meal, came home and the scale says I'm 3 lbs. down! I guess I'm going to quit worrying about stalls and just get on with life. Signed up for my first-ever yoga class later today! I'm so excited!

Anybody having regrets? Need a pep talk
Thank you, everyone. I appreciate it. Taking a deep breath and moving on. To cheer myself up today, i tried on every item of clothing in my closet and packed up 3/4 of it to go to Goodwill! It's all too big/loose/baggy. So that was fun...
