Perspectives on Losing Fast & Slow
AllyJonesVSG replied to GreenTealael's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had a one-week, maybe 10 day stall of being stuck at the same number. Then I went out of town unexpectedly from Sat. morning to Monday afternoon, had to eat out every meal, came home and the scale says I'm 3 lbs. down! I guess I'm going to quit worrying about stalls and just get on with life. Signed up for my first-ever yoga class later today! I'm so excited! -
Anybody having regrets? Need a pep talk
AllyJonesVSG posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm at the dreaded 3-4 week slowdown, but this isn't about that. I just am sort of regretting that I can't eat anything, or so little that my life seems to be centered around food. More than 3 tablespoons of food and I feel sick/nauseated, so I stick to that. Which means my stomach is so empty every 3 hours or so that I feel sick/nauseated in a different way. Last night I felt so bad I was just wishing I'd never done this. Anybody got a pep talk? I could sure use one. -
Anybody having regrets? Need a pep talk

Thank you, everyone. I appreciate it. Taking a deep breath and moving on. To cheer myself up today, i tried on every item of clothing in my closet and packed up 3/4 of it to go to Goodwill! It's all too big/loose/baggy. So that was fun... -
Yum. I'm totally trying this.
-
I'll have to try those. thanks!

Thanks! I'm actually 3+ weeks, but I can't get all my protein in without at least one per day. I'll try Premier.

Oh, okay. The post was in the sleeve forum so I just assumed everyone was talking sleeve. Good point. -

I'm sorry to hear about the autoimmune disease. That must be rough. And thanks for the reminder that very rapid weight loss has its own set of problems. I don't want to rush into hair loss or loose skin, so maybe I'll just be content at my slow rate. -
Perspectives on Losing Fast & Slow

I think I had unrealistic expectations. I kept hearing about people who lost 90 lbs in 3 months sort of thing, but I forgot that they were starting from a place with much more to lose, which helps it fall off faster. I'm evidently going to have to be content with ~4lbs per week. -
Recommendations for sugar free treats please
AllyJonesVSG replied to HopefullXOXOXO's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
There's a tropical flavored sugar-free popsicle that I love and am eating 2-4 (of the singles) a day. -
I LOVE this topic! Read every one and cheering for everybody! For me, I literally walked out of a pair of jeans. My heel caught on the hem and they came right down off me. Down a size already! And I'm having a surge of energy in spite of having zero caffeine (I was addicted to Diet Coke pre-surgery.) Got up at 5:30 this morning and cooked eggs for me and hubby (he was shocked, LOL) then took the dogs on a mile-long walk. Can't wait to see what NSVs the next weeks and months bring.

Thanks so much! It helps. I did this for health reasons, but the size/appearance certainly is a wonderful bonus!!

Wow! I've been in a size 18 for maybe five years and yesterday I bought a pair of size 16 Levis "for when I need them" and came home and tried them on just for fun and they FIT GREAT! It makes the unpleasantness of that first week hurt a little bit less. I know it's a shallow thing to celebrate, but it feels like real progress and just the first step. Now I'm looking forward to buying a pair of size 14s in a few weeks "for when I need them." The iron in the vitamins still makes me so sick I want to throw up or pass out, though. I need to change vitamins.

You will be!

LOL. Thanks! I will!

Is there a lot of sugar in your protein drinks or purees? Because sugar intake triggers hunger. If you're drinking store-bought protein drinks, they can have a LOT of sugar--you may want to switch to the protein powder and mix it in nut milk (I like walnut milk with the chocolate powder, but there are lots of varieties). I'm so sorry this is happening to you. I've had enough regret this week (apparently I'm one of the ones who develops lactose intolerance, yay me) but at least I haven't been hungry at all. I DO miss biting into things and chewing them. Wow. SO, SO much. My best advice? Call your doctor and/or nutritionist. Everything that can possibly happen, they've seen and will be able to offer help. I hope it gets better.

I have a terrible headache too but I figure mine is caffeine withdrawal.

I was 5/15. Yesterday I was hating life and wondering if I'd made a horrible mistake but today I'm feeling somewhat better. I am just ready to go home - I traveled for surgery and want to be in my own bed!
-
My doctor said goal of 165, but I'm 5'11" and I'm thinking 170 would be just fine. It's my best adult weight (150) + 10 extra lbs for each child I had.

My surgery was yesterday. Today I'm back in the hotel and completely exhausted - I think 4 days now of no solid food + no caffeine is not helping! Pain isn't bad, just have to be very careful swinging my legs on and off the bed, etc. Tomorrow I go back for the barium swallow. Good luck, everyone!
