Briswife15 got a reaction from GreenTealael in Post op since 2011
Ok. Take a deep breath. Would you have been able to lose 100 pounds on your own? You've done great losing that weight and should not be so hard on yourself!! I don't know where you started, but my group's definition of a successful surgery is losing 60% of your excess weight. Not everyone loses 100 % of their excess weight. I think you should be proud of your accomplishments!!

Briswife15 got a reaction from kstein01 in Post op, swelling and large weight gain
Hi! I hear ya! Had RNY last Wednesday and gained 10 pounds of Fluid in the hospital! I have just about gotten down to my surgery weight. I have a severe pain on the left side under my ribcage that really hurts when I breathe. However, I'm doing better than I expected, am hitting 90 ounces of fluids a day, taking Vitamins, and trying to walk every day. I'm pretty excited I had it done, too!

Briswife15 reacted to Cameo325 in Just wondering
I am 5'2", starting weight was 213 at my first doctor appointment. I have lost 20 lbs waiting for insurance approval & with their good graces I will have my surgery May 16th. I am doing the gastric sleeve. I have sleep apnea, & borderline HBP. I just want to feel better, to be able to get up off the floor or to cross my legs. Its not about being skinny, its about being healthy.

Briswife15 got a reaction from gabybab in Did anyone stop taking their medications early? I stoped all of mine...
Why did you stop? How far out are you? My surgeon just put me on Pantoprazole and I don't plan on stopping it as that can cause rebound reflux.

that's totally up to your insurance company. Some require it, some don't. The only way to know for sure is to call them

Donβt forget, it is normal at this stage for some emotions to be running amuck.
Agree with above, focus on Water and staying hydrated. Increased Protein intake is going to come in time. If your friends are confusing you or overwhelming you with advice, just tell them you are following your surgeons plan and that is what you were advised to stick to.
If you were an emotional eater, this is a tumultuous time post op, but it will pass donβt worry! I had some crying jags and emotional peaks and lows following surgery, it is normal.
It does get better, be patient with yourself.

Briswife15 got a reaction from Frustr8 in Denied by BC/BS Texas
I have BC, and needed Either a diagnosis of Morbid Obesity OR obesity with 2 co morbidities, such as Diabetes and severe sleep apnea. Without those 2 co-morbities they won't approve you at a low BMI. I'm sorry you're going thru this. I know it is really discouraging.

I know what you mean! Drinking is so easy, if it wasn't for the gas pain and twinges in my abdomen I'd wonder if he even did the surgery!! Have had 55 oz today, and it's mid afternoon.

Briswife15 got a reaction from Frustr8 in Can chewy calcium get stuck 3 days post surgery?
I'm 3 days out from gastric bypass. I started my chewable Multivitamin because surgeon said to as long as I wasn't nauseous. However, my Calcium is the Bariatric Advantage chewy bites, and I'm afraid they'll get stuck at the bottom of my pouch where the opening to my intestines is. Should I wait until I'm on solid food to take my calcium?
Thanks!!

I appreciate you starting this thread @Healthy_life2
17 months post op -94lbs
NO COMPLICATIONS FROM SURGERY
Love that it gave me a fighting chance against medical issues supremely out of my control
π Grateful to my Surgeons and Team perpetuallyπ
My heart goes out to those who had complications and those stories are important to highlight also but If i was considering WLS & needed reassurance in my decision I would rather gravitate to the positive stories. We absolutely need more stories of happy journeys.

Briswife15 reacted to DanaC84 in What, you had NO surgery complications?
Iβm just a little over two months out and I wouldnβt go back and do differently for all the money in the world. The pre op and first week post op were exactly what to be expected and what my surgeon prepared me for. I did have discomfort and nausea. Nothing unbearable and totally well managed with meds given by my surgeon. Expect a week of adjustment, follow YOUR surgeons plan. If you feel you havenβt received enough pre op info from your dr ASK!! A forum is NOT the place to get medical advice. Support and encouragement, absolutely. Good luck and if you decide to move forward know that the odds are in your favor and cold feet, second guessing are all part of the process ππ»πͺπ»ππ»
