  1. Hi, there. I'm hoping for a January surgery date, but won't know for a month or so. I have one more nutrition visit then we can submit to insurance! In a way the 6 month period is going by quickly, and in another way it is dragging!! Excited for change and better health! Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app
  2. Thanks, RHCD. Congratulations on your weight loss so far! That's awesome. All of you who replied have been an encouragement to me. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app
  3. Thanks, CyclicalLoser. I like your explanation and it makes good sense. We're all so different that the doctors have to downplay how much weight we could lose. And as many have said, gaining mobility, energy, better health are more important to me than a number on the scale. I just don't want to still be obese after all is said and done. I've read so many encouraging stories that I think with this new tool, hard work, and determination I will make this work! Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

  5. CyndieRI, thanks so much for that. I'm encouraged that your weight gain in the middle didn't affect your approval! Fingers crossed. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app
  6. I use the Baritastic app which tracks good, water, exercise and has a section for measurements. It tells you what to measure and you can track it. The app is free. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

    Rny vs sleeve

Hi, and welcome! When you look around the boards you'll find some other posts on this subject. I haven't had surgery yet, but have to go with the RNY because I have pretty significant reflux even on strong meds. My surgeon won't do the sleeve on me. The sleeve is really popular though. Do your research and read a lot, and you and your surgeon will come to the right decision for your particular circumstances. Best wishes. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app
  8. I have Anthem BCBS in Connecticut and have the same requirements. I'm not positive, but think they use your starting weight, and it is ok if you go below a BMI of 40 during your 6 months. Can you ask your surgeon's office? They deal with this all the time. I have the opposite problem. I gained 9 pounds in month 4!! Ive lost it again in month 5, but not sure if I'll get denied for the weight gain!! Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

Mine is 6 months of sequential nutrition visits. I found my insurance requirements online, but also called. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app
  10. Thanks, MarinaGirl. I totally agree that I wouldn't be happy only losing 60 lbs and still being obese after WLS. Thanks for your encouragement and advice! Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app
  11. That's ok, FluffyChix! I benefit from everything I read on here! Or mostly everything!! You all have been very helpful to me. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app
  12. Thank you all for your thoughtful replies. I feel encouraged and motivated to do my best, and stick with the plan. First snd foremost Im looking for better health, then the weight loss. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app
  13. The third month of my 6 month supervised diet and exercise program I gained 9 lbs! I had slacked off and was not feeling motivated and didn't weigh myself so I actually didn't know I had gained that much. I have gotten back on track and have lost 5 lbs. Will my insurance company deny me because I gained weight that month?? I have Anthem BC/BS. I've got 6 weeks left until my 6 months are up and I get submitted for approval. 14. Hi, GettinSkinnywithit. Thanks for the suggestion to call my surgeon's office. I think I will see what they say. You're right that they know all the insurance requirements. I've lost a few pounds this month and go back for my next nutrition visit in 10 days. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

  18. Thanks@johnsons13. I appreciate your reply and encouragement. I'm just worried about being rejected and having to do another 6 months of diet and exercise!! You're right, though we need the extra help of surgery because we can't lose adequately on our own! Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

    Should I switch to RNY?

Jumping in here just to add that I'm pre surgery but because I have GERD and the barium swallow showed a decent amount of reflux and dismobility my surgeon won't do a sleeve for me. He says the sleeve makes GERD worse. I've heard it said on these boards that the sleeve us a high press system. Good luck with whichever procedure you choose! 20. I have severe GERD, even with proton pump inhibitors and acid reducers, and my surgeon won't do a sleeve on me because he says the sleeve will make GERD worse. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app
  21. I need to get back on track. I started this journey in May with my visit to the surgeon. I had 2 support groups, visit to cardiologist, psych evaluation and was going strong. I just had my 4th nutrition visit and have 2 left before all my pre surgery requirements are complete. But. Im losing my motivation to having this surgery. I like to eat, and am afraid of the big lifestyle changes. I want to be healthy and be able to climb stairs, get rid of my diabetes and hypertension and high cholesterol, but I need to get motivated again. Anyone been through this? Any suggestions for getting back on track? Thanks!! Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app
  22. Thanks, mousecat88. And thanks to all who replied! I Do need to remember why I'm doing this. I'm frustrated by folks (psychiatrist and a friend from work) who insist I can just lose the weight through diet and exercise alone, and that I don't need the surgery. Everyone is worried that it's too drastic. I saw the surgeon today and feel a renewed motivation! Let's get rid of those comorbidities!!! Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

    CBD oil

Ive used CBD oil capsules and cream. It is not illegal. The capsules make me tired so I take at bedtime. Both seem to work pretty well. We get it either online or at a local tobacco shop. Online is cheaper. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app
  24. Thank you both for your replies and your encouragement! I feel better. I just need to remember why I began this journey. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app
