    Insurance decision tomorrow

Oh! So sorry to hear that. I agree you should definitely appeal. How disappointing for you. ((Hugs)) Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app
  2. What surgery did you have? I believe in gastric bypass they don't actually remove the stomach, but bypass it, so even though it is complicated it can be reversed. Ask Matt Z. I believe he knows of someone who did have it reversed. Anyway, I was more concerned about how terribly ill these folks sounded who claim to want a reversal. They were 7 years and 16 years post surgery. I was afraid of long term complications, but i have had my fears allayed. Thanks for your post.
  3. Twice yesterday I read posts by folks fairly far out from RNY who were experiencing illness and desired to have their surgeries reversed. I was alarmed by how sick these folks sounded. I have not yet had my RNY and am hoping for December or January. However their posts gave me pause. How often do people get seriously ill from bypass and need it reversed? Is it very rare? Thanks! 5. Thanks, MarinaGirl! I don't think those two who posted were "regular" posters, or had even been on the forum before. They just appeared out of nowhere, and maybe have disappeared too. I appreciate your post, and encouragement.

  9. I'm in month 5 of my 6 month "waiting period" before my surgeon submits my paperwork to insurance. I'm hopeful to have RNYGB in early 2019 if all goes well. I've heard that success is considered losing 50% of your excess weight. However, I am about 120 lbs overweight and would really like to lose 100 lbs or more. Am I dreaming? Or is that attainable? I am 5' 3" and weigh about 233. I exercise daily for a minimum of 30 minutes and have every intention of sticking with the exercise, water, and nutrition plan. I just feel like I will be disappointed to only lose 60 lbs! Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app
  10. Thanks, Matt Z. I was pretty freaked out and don't want to get majorly ill from bypass. I do have tremendous confidence in my surgeon though. And most folks on here are really positive about the experience. Appreciate your post.
  11. Thanks, lunnah. That seems like a fairly moderate rate of loss. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app
  12. That's really horrible. I feel for you, and hope you get resolution to your problems. It is quite scary for me. I haven't had surgery yet and your post was sobering. I'd like other vets to weigh in on this, too. Maybe I'm making a big mistake!

    Uhhhhh!!!I'm so ready for change

Hi, benny10. I'm sorry your parents are saying that nonsense. I think the truth is that being obese increases the chances of premature death and that having surgery snd losing weight and getting healthy will increase your life span. Be brave and stay strong. We're here for you! Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

    Waiting on insurance approval

I think it really varies from company to company. Does your surgeon's office have an insurance coordinator? That person would be able to give you an idea of how long your insurance company takes. I hope it is real soon!! Hang in there. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

    Post Op hot flashes

Good to know many others had the same thing. I don't look forward to going through hot flashes again, though! Once was enough!! Lol. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

    Post Op hot flashes

May I ask how old you are? If you're over 40 it could be perimenopause! Of course if you're young, all bets are off. Sorry this is happening to you! Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app
  17. Hi. I think even if you choose the sleeve you're going to need to take vitamins daily for life. Although there aren't malabsorption issues with the sleeve you can't get away with skipping the vitamins post surgery. Good luck with whichever you choose!

    December Bypassers?

Hi, there! I'm having RNY in either very late December or early January. No date yet. Read the post surgery forum for advice on what to expect afterwards. Cheers! Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

How did you pick your user name?

Well, my husband's name is Bri for short, and we were married in 2015. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

    It's SAD

Have you tried one of those special light boxes? I hear they work, but may be pricey. May be cheaper than moving to Florida! :-) Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app
  22. Just a quick thought...does your surgeon actually allow sleeve patients to take NSAIDS? Mine does not allow NSAIDs for either procedure. I rely on NSAIDs, too, and will just have to suck it up and find some other pain relief. I'm having bypass because of GERD. good luck to you! I hope you get the procedure you want.

I have not. Hoping for late December or January. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

    Bypass

Your surgeon should have her/his own version of a liver reducing diet that they will want you to follow. Mine is 3 shakes, plus 2 cups raw non starchy veggies, plus a fat free yogurt or 2 hard boiled eggs. Hope thus helps. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app
