I don't know the answer, but I take a bariatric vitamin twice a day and calcium citrate twice a day, and one B12. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

  3. I lost quite a bit of weight on it , like 30 lbs in 3 months. Then when I went off it I gained 50 pounds back!! Yikes!! Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

    Outpatient sleeve

Never heard of outpatient bariatric surgery! Glad it worked out well for you. I spent 2 nights in the hospital because I was not allowed anything by mouth for 24 hours. No leak test done though. Interesting how surgeons are so different! Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

    Throat gurgling after sipping water

Vivian, dud did your surgeon's office give you any guidelines on how many ounces of liquid you should aim for each day? Mine is at least 64 oz with the more the better. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app
  6. Mine too. The surgeon didn't require it though. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

    BCBS but employer opted out

I agree with Gradycat. It is not like they cover it but denied you. Then you could appeal. If your employer just choses chooses not to to purchase that coverage you are kind of stuck. So sorry! Maybe ask HR if they would consider adding it next time they purchase their coverage. If enough folks ask maybe they will cover it. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app
  8. I had to be on a medically supervised diet for 6 months, although they did not dictate how much I had to lose. Over the 6 months I probably lost 15 pounds. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

  10. Hi. My surgeon just prescribed Carafate and I'm wondering if I should wait one hour before drinking anything, or if that is just for eating? Thanks!! Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

    March Bypass Buddies

I had mine 3/27. Think I have developed ulcers somehow. Started Carafate and feel much better. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

    Carafate question

Thanks, Gabybab. Mine is a liquid, so no worries there. Did you have ulcers? Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

    Carafate question

Thanks, Ed_NW. I Agree. Didn't want to wash it out of my stomach! I waited an hour to drink. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app
  14. I've been on purees for 2 weeks, and can only tolerate ricotta and Greek yogurt. If I try egg, hummus, or cottage cheese I feel tremendous pressure in my pouch like I ate an entire pizza!! I'm trying to eat 1-2 ounces and eat slowly, so I don't think it is the volume or speed. Tomorrow I'm supposed to progress to soft food, but I'm really thinking I'm not ready, and that I should step back to just shakes for a few days to a week. Opinions? Anyone else have trouble progressing?? Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app
  15. Thanks, DanaC84! Appreciate your good wishes! Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app
  16. Talked to surgeon's office and they told me to go back to liquids only until they see me on Monday. Also prescribed Carafate. Hopefully something will help this terrible pressure and discomfort I'm feeling. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

    Back to work!!!

I just went back to work on Monday after 4 weeks off for my gastric bypass. My advice is to stick with lunch foods you are familiar with and don't try something new at work. You may be tired at the end of your shift. I got dizzy and lightheaded towards the end of the day. Good luck! Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

    Binge eating disorder

I think if one has unresolved eating disorders they should be addressed prior to surgery. I was anorexic and purged, but never binged. But that was 20 years ago. I did mention it to my surgeon and their therapist, but they didn't seem concerned at this point. Your binge eating seems to be recent. It is sad to delay the surgery, but you'll be glad to get things under control. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

When did you get blood tests?

I get the lab slip at my 4 month appointment so that the results are available at my 6 month appointment. Nurse says they expect patients to be nutritionally deficient for the first 6 months Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

    Terrified of needles

I did not have to. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app
  23. I was in the hospital 3 days and 2 nights for my bypass. The most important thing I brought was my cell phone charger!! Wish I had brought a toothbrush and toothpaste. You don't need much. Don't over pack. I wore stretchy sweatpants and a loose top with no bra to the hospital and wore the same thing home. I couldn't wear a bra for about a week because I had an incision in the front where my bra would rub. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app
  24. What kind of protein shake are you drinking? Did you have the sleeve or bypass? You could have developed lactose intolerance. Try whey protein isolates not concentrates. Easier on the pouch. Good luck. I find I get pressure in my chest (pouch) if I drink too fast. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

    Hunger

Are you sure it is true hunger and not an acidy feeling in your pouch? Are you on any meds for heartburn? If it is true hunger it will get better as you move through the food stages. Sorry you're feeling this way. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app
