  1. Thanks, Frustr8! I'll make sure I'm asleep. I had an endoscopy about 30 years ago to diagnose an ulcer, and was awake the whole time. It was Awful!! I was gagging and panicking and all that. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app
  2. So then it is easier for food to get washed through for bypassers, and hence we can't drink while eating or the food will just flow through with the liquid, enabling us to overeat. Right? That's the point of not drinking while eating. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app
  3. Why do you think bypass folks can do it with no problem? That just makes no sense![emoji39] we are also instructed never to drink while eating and to wait at least 30 minutes after eating to drink. Also not to drink right before eating... Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app
  4. Thanks, Steven1954. They do completely knock you out for the endoscopy, right? I'm kinda nervous! Did you feel any better after the first one? How many weeks between endoscopies? Thanks!! Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

    EGD results

Some folks would rather have their intestines rerouted rather than have 3/4 of their stomach removed![emoji4] And don't forget the RNY gastric bypass is called the "gold standard " of bariatric surgery. If you have to have the bypass you'll do fine! Hope your reflux gets better soon. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

If you know insurance doesn't cover surgery

Hi. I'm sorry your employer's policy doesn't cover bariatric surgery. That's a bummer. Unfortunately, even if it is a "medical necessity " if they don't cover it, they don't cover it. I'd suggest talking to HR or whomever decides what your policy covers, and ask them to consider covering it in the future. Good luck to you! Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app
  8. Thanks, Frustr8! I'll try some broth. Good luck with your appointment on Tuesday. Come back here and let me know what they say about your plan of care. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

  13. JoniR there is a forum on here which is all about surgeries in Mexico. Maybe you can find recommendations for a different surgeon in Mexico. Best of luck to you! I'm sure you'll find one. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app
  14. I agree with Mikeyy. This is a big deal having bariatric surgery and you should be 100% confident in your surgeon. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

    Abdominal pain

Maybe you're suddenly lactose intolerant...? That would cause bowel cramps and diarrhea. Hope you feel better soon. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app
  16. Only from the medication they have me on - Carafate. How many ounces of fluids are you taking in a day? Maybe you're dehydrated Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app
  17. Hi, Iliana00000, no, at this point I don't think I need another surgery. Just an endoscopy to stretch the stricture. I dont think you get strictures with the sleeve because they don't reattach your intestines. I hope you'll be ok. Maybe your surgeon will have some ideas tohelp you feel better. 19. Yes! I have exactly the same problem. I am 4 weeks out and no longer able to tolerate purees or liquids. Constantly feel like I am going to throw up. Saw my Surgeon's PA yesterday who ordered an emergency upper GI series and it turns out I have a stricture!! They are going to do an endoscopy on Tuesday to try to stretch the opening between my pouch and intestines. I had RNY gastric bypass btw. Don't wait, call surgeon's office Monday if you're not feeling better. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

    Smells

There was a recent thread about bad breath. One suggestion was to chew parsley. On the smelly crotch, there's a real thing called "keto crotch ". You can Google it. Not sure there is a cure. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

  24. Today marks 3 weeks post bypass for me, and although I'm not in a stall per se, I am losing very very slowly. I'm 57 and post menopausal so that may have something to do with it. I'm eating approx 55-90 gm protein a day and still in purees. I need assurance that if I keep working my plan I will eventually lose weight. Any successful slow losers out there? They think I have a stricture

Hi, Frustr8!! Thanks for your post. Well, I had the study done and it does not appear to be a stricture but a spasm clamping my anastomosis shut and preventing anything from getting thru. It spasms, which causes massive reflux, then opens up a bit and some liquid gets thru, then it snaps shut again like a snapping turtle!! I am waiting for my surgeon to call me to tell me what we're going to do about this problem. I've never heard of such a thing!! Maybe I should call my pouch "turtle"!!
