I’m headed to my psych study and I’m so nervous! This is the last thing I do before I get my surgery date so of course I want it to go smooth! Wish me luck! 🤞🏼Hopefully I’m smiling afterwards!

5 months post-op and have lost so much hair. Thank God I had a lot to start. I can see and feel new hair all over my head.
  3. Thanks

Yup, me too. This, too, shall pass! I'm enjoying my short, thin haircut for the summer. My Hair loss is probably less dramatic looking, because I did get it cut short. My drain will not look nearly as clogged as yours. Hang in there. We'll get through this.

I had surgery may31st and i definently see a difference in my hair. This gross looking pic is only 3days of brushing my hair. It didnt used to be like that.

I'm taking Biotin and using Nexium and Minoxidil and I haven't noticed any additional thinning or loss beyond what I already had due to thyroid issues

it'll stop. Then it will grow back. And for many of us, we're the only ones who really notice it.

mandmom reacted to Bari_KS in Stretched Pouch?
YOU CANNOT STRETCH/DILATE out your sleeve to anything remotely close to its original size.

From LapSF/Dr. Criangle: The removed section of the stomach is actually the portion that stretches the most. The long vertical tube shaped stomach that remains is the portion least likely to expand over time and it creates significant resistance to volumes of food.

The fundus is ALL but removed with VSG. The fundus is the upper most part of the stomach's greater curvature. The fundus is:
    1) the stomach's stretchy/expandable tissue, capable of expanding 2-3xs its resting 'unfilled' size
    2) the pre-op 'mass quantities' of food, waiting to be digested, storage section
    3) where 70% of the body's grehlin a "hunger hormone" is produced.
Stretching, due to overeating is most common in RNY because more of the stretchy fundus part of the stomach is retained to make the 'pouch'.

LOL. I'm an outlier. 1000-1200cals per day is my maintenance.
To lose I have to be between 600-800cals/day of very nutrient dense foods.

I sometimes mix 1/2 T of unsweetened cocoa powder into a thing of vanilla Carbmaster or Light & Fit yogurt and then throw a few raspberries on top. I also usually have a container or two of Ice Breakers around all the time - but although they are sugar free, they're empty calories - but having just three or four isn't horrible - and better than binging on Cookies or something.

Why do you think that is that your doctor my doctor are so adamant about keeping us on shakes and not teaching us how to actually eat real food with our gastric sleeve? He also wants me losing at least 3 pounds a week. Which is not easy I am a 59 year-old post-menopausal woman who has arthritis. Although I have been doing at least two and a half pounds a week. I'm just really concerned that she's not taking my health and the longevity of living with the gastric sleeve to heart

But I love to overthink! 🤪I'm a loner dottie, a rebel!

.....(I'll def follow his instructions). The size just was way smaller than what I expected from reading my guide to the surgery. My food bill is gonna be so cheap lol

One thing I'd definitely say after a month or so of "eating what I wanted" I wasnt getting the results I was looking for.. it took going into the drs office a week and a half ago to wake me up to what I was doing.. its pretty easy.. at least it was for me.. to fall back into your old ways.. even if the portions are smaller that type of food tends to make me choose unwisely as a whole. I'd consider what you wanted from the surgery and bring it up when you have cravings for things that are pretty obviously taking you a step backwards.. to the exact question.. kielbasa is very fatty and filled with calories I'd consider sausage as a whole worth giving up on completely.

Omgoodness I SO needed to hear this! I lost 21 pounds before my surgery 15 days ago and have loss "only" 8 pounds since! I'm praying that I begin loosing bigger weight
  15. Thanks
mandmom reacted to Everything in Low BMI Surgery
I’m “low BMI” 5 weeks post op. I would say yes, compared to others who are not categorized as “low”, my weight is definitely coming off slower. That said it seems to be somewhat consistent. It slowed to a crawl during week three but never officially stalled. At that point I was losing .2 pounds every day or every other day.
now I seem to be losing about .2-.4 pounds a day at this rate. My BMI is already back down to a 27. I’m not dissatisfied with my progress until I start comparing my stats with others losing 10 pounds a week. I’m wanting to lose 60 pounds. I have already lost over a third of my excess weight and I’m only a month and a week out.

Ha ha ha. Dont worry plenty of people will be on here soon to tell you that you arent really hungry it is all in your head. It is just head hunger, feel free to tell those people to f**k off. I was starving the morning after surgery. Once you are able to take in puree and soft foods you should start to feel better.

Thank you all for the well wishes. The procedure went great Kris77. The worst thing for me after the procedure was feeling nauseous but the meds they gave me helped a bunch. I left the hospital the following day and today was my first day at home. I was able to walk around the block twice today and have taken no pain meds. I feel very good about the way things are going.

So my sleeve surgery is a day and a half away. Tuesday morning first thing in the morning. I have been on a liquid-only diet and I'm going crazy ! LOL around food I'm not always rational so I don't know if this feeling is because my body is hungry for food or if my mind is hungry for food. It makes me so scared that after the surgery I'm still going to be starving for food emotionally and mentally. I'm a bit scared
