Taoz, I’m glad everything’s going well for you so far. How long do you expect to be there? Have you been drinking and walking? My surgery begins tomorrow afternoon at 2:50 pm which seems late to me. They’re saying I should be ready to go home at 1pm the next day. I hope they’re right but it all seems so fast. Tonight I’m really not nervous. I’m overtired from getting everything ready for post op. I’m sure I’ll feel different tomorrow! Hang in there Taoz. You got this!

I had my pre op appointment today! 2 week liver shrinking diet will begin on Sunday! May 21st is the D-Day! I am excited and anxious all at the same time! I can't believe how close I am.

Technically, I'm currently a NYer, but I used to live just outside Manchester NH and am hoping to move back up that way within the next 2 years.

That's all you can do. It's your best shot. Wishing you patience...and success! Just stay consistent, work hard...you'll get there:)

Hi! I'm 14 days post op. I have PCOS with insulin resistant so far since March 20th I've lost 32lbs which honestly shocks me because it's always been such a huge struggle to lose weight. I know with PCOS the weight loss May be slower than others but I'm ok with that as long as I'm losing. Medication wise it think it's too early to know weather they'll be any change, the only meds i take is for my heart. Best of luck!

I can relate - I have (had?) PCOS and insulin resistance - am 6 months post op (last week) and have lost 25kgs (55lbs). I hit my surgeon's goal weight right on the 6 month anniversary, which was a nice surprise. I've found weightloss to be incredibly slow and have stalled more times than I can count within that 6 months, but the scale always eventually moved. I do believe this is due to the PCOS and IR, and I also believe without surgery I would still be plugging away at the gym and eating well but not seeing the scale move - so frustrating. I'm happy to accept the slow loser card

I’m doing good thanks. I’ve been pretty lucky, everything has gone well. I have my first follow up appointment tomorrow and hopefully will get to move onto puréed foods. I’m ready for a little more variety. I get tired at times. On occasion I get nauseous. You just take it day by day. I sometimes have to remind myself to take it easy and that I had surgery less than 3 weeks ago. Good luck with your upcoming surgery!

I’m going in five years out. I go up and down within 7lbs of my lowest.

There are def people with long term complications and side effects... strictures are probably the biggest... but they are def the minority. Some people def regain... sliding back into old eating patterns. You can eat around the sleeve... slider foods like processed carbs, high calorie drinks, etc. but again they are the minority.

Any long term side effects? Well my stomach talks A LOT... gurgles and such. There are a few foods that still don’t agree with me—carbonation, rice, untoasted bread—but I shouldn’t be eating those anyhow. And they don’t make me sick they just are somewhat painful to uncomfortable.

Would I trade that for the 135lbs I lost, the marathons I run, the size 4 I wear and the blood pressure meds and prediabeties I left behind? Not a chance!

Found out I was approved for surgery on Friday! I have my pre-op surgery appointment on May 1 and hopefully will get a surgery date at that meeting.

I was told I'd probably lose 8-10. I start my liquid diet may 21st! Surgery is booked for June 4th

Congrats! I'll be a few months behind you, but would love to follow the progress of you and others not far ahead of me so I know what I have to look forward to!

I find it so interesting how different the preop process is for each person. I keep seeing people talking about having seen the surgeon and stuff early on. The process for me is the opposite. I don't even get a 1 on 1 appt with the surgeon until the very end when everything else is completed.
