  1. Good luck to you too. We've go this!
  2. I have been stalled for the past week. It's pretty frustrating. I think I lost about 9 pounds my 1st week and then nothing since then. I'm doing well Kimbero. On the clear liquid diet today. So glad surgery is tomorrow so I won't be so hungry anymore, hopefully. I have to leave my house at 5:45 am tomorrow morning to make it to the hospital by 7:15 am. Will be a short night. Let me know how you are doing afterwards. I will keep everyone posted.

    MD Patches

Hi Newlady. I have been using the multivitamin with extra iron patch and I love it. I hate the taste of kiddie vitamins as they leave a horrible aftertaste so the patch has been a lifesaver. I just had my final labs before surgery drawn last week and everything was within normal range, even my iron which was low before. I guess some people have issues with their labs after using the patches but others have had great success. Me being the latter. Good luck!
  4. Hi Kimbero. I'm doing pretty good. I ended up cheating the other day but now I am back on track to stay. Getting too close to muck it up at this point! It's my last night of work until the surgery so that is definitely exciting. My scale, however, has not moved in the past 4-5 days which is frustrating. Even after cheating on Wednesday, my weight stayed the same. it didn't even go up which is good. How are you doing?

    Approved !!

Congratulations. I had to have labs drawn, an EKG done and a 2-view chest x-ray. Also, my primary had to do a pre-op physical.
  6. I wanted a place where those of us having surgery on May 29th can all hang out/support each other. How are all the pre-op diets going? There were cookies left for us nurses from the hospital auxiliary and I have really been fighting the urge to eat one. Only a couple more hours until I can have a protein shake. Trying to stay strong!
  7. Another surgery buddy here! May 29th...only 6 days away at this point!
  8. This is an interesting link. It compares other common surgeries and the risk of having surgery compared to remaining obese. It says the survival rate is 99.8%. https://www.bariatric-surgery-source.com/gastric-bypass-surgery-deaths.html
  9. 1 week down for me, one to go. It hasn't really gotten any easier for me but I keep plugging along. You can do it!

    I got a date

Hi SuperGal. Sounds like you're doing great! I have this feeling that this upcoming weekend is going to drag by...especially with it being Memorial Day and on MD, I'm on a clear diet only. It's going to be a rough one for sure!

You are doing awesome Kimbero! You have alot more willpower than me.

    I got a date

I am doing pretty good. Instead of my can of meat/vegetable soup, I've been eating a chicken broccoli alfredo (no noodles) healthy choice meal with similar nutrition value which really has helped. I actually made it through a shopping trip yesterday by bringing yogurt, sugar free pudding and a protein shake with me. I did cheat a little with a couple of samples at Costco but it wasn't much. How is everyone else doing? Only 8 days left!

One week out and in the ER

Curious to see what the CT scan shows. I hope you get over this quickly!

    Sugar free jello

Hi Kimbero. Isn't it amazing how good sugar-free jello and pudding are, especially when you can't eat much else?

    I got a date

Ugh...I broke down and cheated today. Had fried chicken and tuna salad/cashew chicken salad. But, now I know that I'm done and no more cheating for me. Hoping to stay strong!

    Pre-surgery EKG

Thanks frustr8. They just took a quick strip, lasted maybe a minute. So relieved!
  17. I'm scheduled to have my EKG tomorrow and the scheduler mentioned something about a holter monitor. Did anyone else have to do this or is it normally just a strip EKG that is needed? I think the scheduler misunderstood the order because it says ambulatory referral for EKG, which I think it just means that it is an outside order from my bariatric hospital to my clinic. Anyone else had to go through the holter thing? I'm really hoping that it's just a quick monitor....
  18. No, my nutritionist says that it's hard to gauge how much you are drinking with each sip and also can introduce air into your stomach which can be painful.

    Pre-surgery EKG

That is what I'm really hoping for!

    I got a date

Started my liquid diet also today. So far, so good. Not feeling deprived at all. So far today, I've had 2 Premier Proteins, sugar free pudding, greek yogurt and soup. I still have a shake, sugar free jello and yogurt available to me yet today. We'll see how work goes tomorrow night though. I'm always hungry during the night..... How is everyone else doing?
  21. The second part of the story was on just the other night. I DVR'd it and am going to watch it this weekend. Can't wait to see what happened.....

    Here's a Prep Tip

I hear ya. I live in Northwestern Wisconsin and we just went from winter to summer. Where do you live in MN? If you're in the twin cities area, some cities are having community-wide garage sales coming up.
