  1. I finally found one that I like...Robert Irvine's Fit Crunch in Chocolate Chip Cooke Dough. It has 190 calories, 16 g of Protein, 8 g of Fat, 14 g of Carbs, 3 total g of sugar. I'm looking for a really good chocolate mint one. What has everyone else found?

    30 second elevator interview

I am a 43 year old mother of 3, ages 11, 13 and 14. I am an RN working in the behavioral health field. I am also on my second career. The first was working at a Real Estate Title Company for many years before I met my husband and had kids. After staying home with the kids when they were little, I decided to pursue a career in nursing and I love it. I have a bachelor's degree in Cultural Studies and now a bachelor's in Nursing. I am definitely an introvert, quiet until you get to know me; then I am sarcastic and funny.

    Non Plain Water Drink Choices

My go-to is Sobe Water. I LOVE it! Zero calories with added nutrients/vitamins. I go through about 2 - 20 ounce bottles a day. Propel and Crystal Light are too sweet for me.
  4. Hi Becca. Click on your username in the upper right corner, click on My Surgery and then on the left, click on the progress button. You can update your weight and most everything else there. Hope that helps!

    What's your non-scale victory?

Went to a waterpark this weekend and felt pretty good wearing a swimsuit. I was also able to ride around in an inner tube on the lazy river.
  6. I am just wondering who out there has had breast reduction surgery after losing some weight. I was originally referred a couple of years ago but the surgeon wouldn't touch me with a 10-foot pole since my BMI was 55 at the time. She wanted me to get my BMI down to around 40 before she would consider me for surgery. Well, fast forward 2 years and my BMI is now 44 and dropping and I would really like to pursue this before the end of the year (as my insurance deductible has already been met for the year). Has anyone else had the surgery before hitting goal? Any before and after pictures to share (with clothing on)? I am really excited to possibly be able to get this done soon...my boobs have been deflated balloons since I was in high school!
  7. I am 10 weeks out and have just been looking into my BMR. Apparently my BMR is right around 1700 calories for my weight and height. Right now I am talking in about 700-900 calories a day so way below my BMR. How does this work after having surgery? I don't think I can even get close to 1700 calories in a day. Do we not worry about BMR after surgery or should I be upping my calories? P.S. I have been losing slowly.
  8. Nope...not 53! Try again... LOL! I am 43 and female so that puts me at about 1750. I like the idea of using the ideal weight for BMR, that puts me at about 1350. I'm definitely under that! Thanks everyone for the advice/discussion!

    10 weeks post op

    Congrats Kimbero!
  10. $42,000 for my surgery!!!!!!!! My insurance had contracted about $12,000 which makes a heck of a lot more sense! How can hospitals get away with charging so much? Just one of the many things wrong with medical care in this country!
  11. Just today I had a couple of small spoonfuls of fried rice with my Black Pepper Chicken and Beef and Broccoli from Panda Express. It was awesome! Turned that plate of food into 3 meals. I also have started making my kids' favorite again, chicken alfredo penne pasta, in which I also partake. The pasta is high protein so I kind of justify it that way. I don't eat nearly as much as I used to however. Smaller portions.

    Funny NSV

    That is hilarious!!!
  13. I invested in one of these after surgery: https://www.amazon.com/Professional-Chopper-Blender-Processor-QB1004/dp/B004XK4N9C/ref=sr_1_9?s=kitchen&ie=UTF8&qid=1530264986&sr=1-9&keywords=ninja+blender I tried using a blender but it would not puree meats or anything else correctly. The Ninja is awesome!

    Stalls

I lost maybe 13 pounds in the first week and have only lost 3 pounds since then and I'm almost a month out. I stick to between 450-700 calories a day, getting my protein and fluids in. It can be very frustrating. I'm trying not to be at this point. Did she take measurements before surgery? Even through a stall, we can be losing inches. My clothes fit much better and I'm actually in a size smaller at this point. Good luck!

    Just had an egg!

I am almost a month out and have just rediscovered scrambled eggs. They are so good! I normally add a 1-2 Tbsp of shredded cheese, a splash of Fairlife milk and a little bit of onion flakes to one egg and it is very nummy. That and 1/2 of a clementine fill me right up. As long as it's specifically on your plan, I say go for it.
  16. 10 days out I was still on pureed foods. Have you tried pureeing things? My favorite was turkey or chicken deli meat (2 oz.) with a little bit of jarred gravy (1-2 Tbsp.) and 1 Tbsp of mashed potatoes. Kind of like thanksgiving dinner. I've also done pureed meat with 1-2 Tbsp. light mayo, low sugar marinara sauce, sugar free BBQ sauce, light ranch dressing, etc. It's definitely best not to be eating any chunks at this point and if you happen to get a chunk, chew it really well! I also like light cottage cheese (3 Tbsp.) with 1 Tbsp. of pureed fruit in it's own juice, my favorite is pears. Take it slow in advancing your foods. Has your nutritionist given you a list of approved foods at this point? Good luck!
  17. So, I had bypass a little over 3 weeks ago, lost like 14 pounds the first week but have been stalled since then. Surgery weight was 265 pounds, have been at 251 for the past 2 weeks. I am currently on pureed/soft foods. I ran my daily food through MyFitnessPal: Calories 491 Carbs 36 Fat 10 Protein 71 Sugar 8 I am taking in 4 tablespoons (1/4 cup) of food at each meal. Any idea what might help? Thanks!
  18. I had bypass on May 29th. Close to a month out. Still following diet plan, only 4 tablespoons (1/4 cup) of food at each meal. I've advanced to soft foods so I can have string cheese and triscuits (only 2-3) now. Looking forward to having that soon!
  19. Following. I'm almost a month out and am wondering the same thing.....
  20. Note: everything except calories is in grams. Sent from my SM-N950U using BariatricPal mobile app
  21. How is everyone doing? Were y'all advanced to pureed foods today? I had some cottage cheese for lunch and pureed chicken/light mayo (3 T.) and instant mashed potatoes (1 T.) for supper. It tasted amazing! I'm on pureed for 2 weeks and then on to soft foods.
  22. It ends up that my family and in laws are suddenly going out for supper. The place that we are going to has cottage cheese which will be the only thing that I can maybe eat. I was bypassed last Tuesday and am only a day or two from pureed foods. Does this sound like something I can do? Thanks.
  23. Wow. That's cool. Thanks for letting me know.
  24. Just take it one day at a time. Yesterday I was miserable, so much gas, not able to have a BM, stomach pain, not able to take in much for fluids. Today, has been much better so far. You will get there.
  25. I hear ya Miss Smiles. I wasn't able to get any opioids at all, they only gave me toradol, tramadol and tylenol. Now as I sit here, I am in quite a bit of pain. It sucks but I'm trying to stay positive. Glad you came out of surgery ok.
