  1. Look on Craigslist in the "Free" section for fitness equipment. I just picked up a treadmill last Friday. I also got a stationary bike over the summer and some free weights.
  2. I'd say you get to join both groups. Lucky you.

    Second thoughts

I had the doubts as well when I realized the weight was coming off and the diet was not that bad. I knew I wouldn't have the will power to stick with it though. So many attempts in the pass and all failures with more weight gain in the end. My lifestyle hasn't changed one bit other than being more active and feeling so much better and I'm only 2 months out. I can't wait to see what the future will bring. Good luck to you.

    Anticipation

Not long now. Good luck on your surgery day and best to you on this journey!!!
  6. Getting your head around it is probably one of the harder things to do on this journey. Just know it's a learning experience. When you have doubts or worries you have a place to turn for motivation if you need it. Welcome back and best to you on this wonderful journey. You won't regret your decision.
  7. Don't let the lack of weight loss discourage you. It'll happen. You just have to be patient, give it time and let it happen. Keep on with your pre op and things will go as expected.

    Non Scale Victories

I was wondering if/hoping it would pass. I was never cold before. Always wore shorts and no shirt in the house. Could go out in a t-shirt mid winter and be a little chilly. Only wore under pants to sleep in. Last week or so I've been covered in layers and sleep the same way. I don't like wearing so many clothes.

Quoting the LONGEST post, one you have to scroll forever to get to the end of it, then replying "Congrats" or "Good Job". Like the original one wasn't long enough. And it's never just one person, at least 4 or more people do it in one thread.
  11. WOW, Awesome job!!! That smile says it all. CONGRATS!!!!

    Six Months After My VSG

Good for you, you look GREAT!!! Congrats on your success!!!!
  14. It's an easy thing to say when the person is not in your shoes. I was one that believed it was an easy way out until I looked into it and found out what it was and what it entailed. My brother had lap-band and it never quite worked for him. I thought the sleeve was something similar just a bigger "thing" put around your stomach. DUH.... Don't be bothered by what others think or say. What you are doing is for you and only needs to be appreciated by you. If others tag along great, if not they can KICK ROCKS. Best to you on your journey!!!!

Guys who started over 400 lbs.

@ScottH611 I wish I had the motivation to follow my own advice but Google seated or chair exercises. You'll find upper body movements that will help you out.

@NEXT YEAR IN JERUSALEM Getting WLS is a huge mind "game". You have to mentally prepare yourself for a lifestyle change. Pre op I knew what I was doing and what would be expected, I knew what the changes would be but couldn't imagine it. Post op, you get it. The hardest part for me was having patience. Things go slow and you have to allow yourself to learn and let your body heal. Just make sure your head is right. I think that's the hardest part of all of it.

@Porthous I'm right there with you on motivation to work out. I have equipment here at home and I still don't touch it. I'm just over 3 months out from sleeve.

Unsupportive partners make me so angry!

I posted this in the "Quotes and Inspiration" thread but think it applies here somewhat.

You should ask your surgical team if they have something in place to help with your situation. Maybe they can offer your family some information, at the least some pamphlets. Best case scenario your surgeon or one of his team will talk with them as a group. Explain the surgery, how it has evolved and answer questions/concerns they may have. Sucks he went and did this but It really sounds like he is concerned and not just being an ass.
