Dang, there's a lot of negativity on this post. She made a mistake. She realizes that she made a mistake. We've all made mistakes whether it's with drugs, alcohol, food, in life...whatever. Let's all remember what Thumper taught us all those years ago: "If you can't say something nice, don't say nothing at all".

I'm 13 months post op. My acid reflux hasn't gotten better or worse. I would choose the VSG again.

Yeah, this is going to be very different for every person. I've told anyone who asks. I'm not private or shy or anything. I'm not embarrassed that I had the surgery. Usually when someone asks how I've lost weight, I explain that I had the sleeve surgery and I've changed the way that I eat. I've dropped 190 pounds in like 15 months, so a lot of people have noticed lol

When I started my journey, I was in size 32 pants, now I'm in size 18. It feels amazing to be able to buy pants anywhere!

My surgeon's office never gave me a goal weight. I am going with 190 though. I'm 5'10", and I've lost 250 pounds at this point, so I have excess skin all over, which adds weight to me.

Your caloric intake is definitely NOT too high. I think that's a great amount for someone who does as much activity as you do. Are your clothes looser? I've noticed that I haven't lost a lot of pounds lately, but my clothes feel looser.

FancyChristine15 got a reaction from Aprilgal in Foodies - honestly how bad is it?
Of course there is the risk of side effects with either procedure. From what I've read and what I know though, dumping, which is having to run to the bathroom after you eat, is more common with the bypass. I had the sleeve, and it's happened to me once or twice in 14 months. You will eventually be able to physically eat whatever you want; now, the issue is: will those foods help you reach your weight loss goals? I usually eat really well; for instance, an egg and a couple of bacon for Breakfast, fruit for a snack, grilled chicken for lunch, etc.... but every now and then I allow myself to have something I really want...maybe a donut even, but it's not all the time and it's not regularly. You can have the foods you love, but you may not be able to have them everyday if you want to lose weight.

I'm a 45yr old male who's ultimate goal is to get lean enough with enough muscle to entire a natural masters BB comp down the road. This is where the conundrum is. I know if I lowered my cals, I'd likely lose much quicker but I know most will be muscle mass. It is encouraging hearing you lost weight up to 18-20mos out. I am hopeful I can get the remaining 35lbs off in the next 9-10mos. I'd be happy with 25lbs but BF in low 20's.
