You don’t need much. Chapstick, phone charger, pillow. Wear something comfortable to the hospital & wear the same thing home.

Horrible taste in my mouth
toodlerue replied to Faith2Faith's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
It’s because you aren’t chewing any food yet. It will get better as you move through the stages & progress to more solid foods. -
Yes. You can get them in the same isle at the store as the stuff for heartburn. It’s usually in the bottom shelf. They come in chewable or regular.

Dramamine

Not very much! Seems like some days it took me all day to finish one shake!
-
You were pumped full of fluids in the hospital. Be patient, it will happen.

Have you tried the Russle Stovers SF candies? I cant stand SF stuff! But these don’t have an after taste to me.

I too had headaches around this time frame. I added some electrolytes (sorta like Gatorade). Helped some. But some days the only way I made it through was with a Norco. I also had a RNY for failed Nissen.

The shoulder pain is from the gas that was used to blow up your abdomen during the surgery. Some surgeons are better at getting the gas out then others. My pain lasted for 3 weeks! It was horrible. I used heat & a tens unit. The pain meds didn’t really help.

My daughter had a kidney stone at about 2 months out. It was really painful & passed by itself.

Just curious, what sort of things were in the diet pack that you don’t agree with? It sounds like you have been paying attention to your body and know it very well. Share your concerns with your nutritionist & trust that they will listen. -
Wow. I was Only at 700-800 calories 2 months out. Measure your food so you aren’t eating more than 3 oz at a meal.
-
Seems like I lived on GasX & nausea pills for the 1st 2 months!

You need way more protein! Right now the protein drinks are counting towards your liquid intake. You should be getting 60-90 mg protein a day! I know It is hard at first but that’s what you should be shooting for. It might take you 1/2 hour to drink that much, just go slow.

I get Water just to make the server feel good. They can’t believe someone wouldn’t even want a glass of water with their meal. My daughter and I both Had a RNY this year. I love Going out to eat because we can share a meal. We got a 6oz steak this week at Black Angus. It was the perfect size for us to share. -
Almost sounds like kidney stones. But you really should see a doctor. If it is an obstruction in your intestines & they rupture it will be a whole lot worse!!!!!

Oh man! BTW I love your username! Made me 😂

Alternate between hot & cold water on your head in the shower. Or hot and cold on the back of your neck using a hot rice bag & an ice pack.

Laying eggs is a natural process for birds. If there is no rooster around the eggs are not going to grow into a chick. And nobody likes the smell of rotten 🥚!

pain control 1.5 years after GBS
toodlerue replied to virginiaRN's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Wow. You just wrote my pain story! You have tried everything that I would suggest except lidocaine patches. They are expensive but I can't live without them. I also wear an neoprene exercise belt around the house when I need heat & ThemoPac when I need heat when I’m not at home. I also take Norco. Some days I take 2 & somedays I don't take any, just depends on the day. So I know I’m not addicted to them. Best of luck finding out something that works for you!
