  1. So I had my appointment and talked to my doctor as well. My primary did many tests and what came up was very interesting so my pancreas is producing 3X as much insulin than needed. Meaning there is or was insulin resistance. I have the discoloration of the skin and other symptoms, sooooo… meaning all the extra is turning into fat instead of energy. Diet and exercise will NOT be enough to loose weight, as confirmed by my doctor. She has me on metformin to help regulate the production and it may help me loose some weight but the surgery is a good idea and my doctor is okay with it. Even though I thought about the surgery for over a year this confirmed that I will always have issues with my weight. So I'm starting my 6 month dietary program and thank god for my insurance its only $600 for the surgeon the hospital and the program fees. I hope this goes well! Anyone else with bazar health issues that effect their weight?
  2. IF anyone has had him as their surgeon I was curious on your experience. Did he make you feel comfortable? How was the surgery? Any complication? I have just made an appointment with him from what I have read about him he is one of the best in the area I'm just a little nervous and want to know what to expect.

    United Health Care

I have united healthcare choice plus ppo and I haven't found out my approval date as I am in the beginning stages but from what my insurance said they cover 90% of the expenses and that my doctor makes those decisions but that I should be approved as long as my bmi is 40 or higher. they said is could be 3 months to 6 months before that.
  4. So I haven't started the process yet... and was wondering if any has gone threw United Healthcare for their surgery? I know most of the basics on what they cover for gastric sleeve, but what I want to know is if they covered everything or if they covered 80%? I just want to be prepared a little better before making the leap for this.
  5. still researching all the procedures.

  6. I haven even talked to a doctor about doing the surgery yet I'm doing lots of research before hand and then in a few month I'm going to bring it up. I want the surgery. I had a baby over a year ago and cant get the weight off.. I have always been overweight, but after the baby I packed on more and its just tiring and embarrassing. Anyone else in this boat?
