    Surgery with children?

Oh, no, no, no---For your own sake do it 6 weeks apart so one of you can pick up the littles. Mine are 3 and 7 but the 3 year old is used to being picked up and sometimes needs to be picked up (tantrums and what not). I don't know what I would have done without my husband to pick up the slack.

Anyone Not do a Pre Op Diet??

I had one but it was only 2 days. Seems very mild compared to what so many others are stuck with.

    Messed up

I don't know what surgery you are having, I had a sleeve, but we only had a two day clear diet, so I imagine you will be fine. Some doctors are just overly cautious, different protocols. Just don't cheat again--not just for the liver but alcohol thins your blood.
  5. I started out an 40H and now I am a 38F, the boobies are going FAST, oh and they look more like quarters in a tube sock than breasts. I know I am heading to silicone valley when this is all said and done. I doubt I will have enough left to even make a nice B cup when all this is over.

12 days post-op. Depressed and struggling

My nutritionist kept telling me I would not be hungry and that I would need to remind myself to eat so when I was two weeks out and started to feel hunger I thought I was losing it. I sheepishly asked my surgeon if it was possible I was hungry because I was told I wouldn't---he laughed and said "I never said you wouldn't be hungry!" He said about 25% of his patients get legitimately hungry, 25% are the lucky ones that are never hungry, and most fall somewhere in between. So you are not alone in your hunger, Strawberry! Nor are you alone in your depression, this has been a very rough transition, and I fly from melancholy to downright anger at times. I never realized how addicted to food I was until I had to give it up, cold turkey. Everyone says it gets better so I am inclined to believe them, I hope you are feeling some relief soon. I agree with everyone else, counseling is the way to go. Talking to someone--or even finding a support group so you can commiserate will ease you along this rough road.
  7. I was very fortunate that my husband works from home and he has basically taken care of my 7 and 3 year old for the past month since surgery. But in all honesty I could have handled them one week post op for half the day. I think this will go as well as your husband lets it. If he takes over the childcare as soon as he comes home from work you will do fine. Good luck.

    Staples or stitches

I had internal stitches and dermabond on the outside. I did get a little rash from the dermabond but nothing major. I got 7 incisions too, but 4 of them were like pin prick s and are barely visible 4 weeks out

I have the for life follow ups too. I don’t know if I will make it to the forever but I see myself going for at least 5 years.

    Lung infection

You always have to be your own advocate especially when u are overweight and a woman. However u would thing practices that specialize in big people would be a little less dismissive. 😔 I hope you are feeling better soon.

    Beginning Workout

I was actually told to stay away from the elliptical until 6 weeks as to not stress out the inner stitches. My surgeon suggested light jogging, walking, and light weights for now.

    Back to work?

I was sleeved on Friday 4/27 and returned to work Tuesday 5/8. I have a desk job. I had moments of fatigue and it is hard to be around people eating whatever they want (my family was much more considerate), but all and all I was fine. My surgeon was unconcerned as well, even after I told him a walk a mile to work from the train station. You just need to listen to your body.
  13. 40 pounds is great for 7 weeks! I am 4 weeks today and lost 26 as of this morning, which is officially 100 pounds down from my highest recorded height. Yeah I was hoping to be one of those lucky outliers that loss 40 in their first month, but almost a pound a day is respectable.
  14. I am in my first month and I have a lot of regrets. However, I realize that a lot of folks regret their sleeve in the first month. I have nausea every morning, and constipation, I was having acid issues but they seem to have lessened. It is really nothing major. I am just frustrated at the lack of progress. I am starting at a higher weight than most people so I expected to lose more my first month. It is hard to know you forever altered your body and left yourself open for some pretty heavy side effects and not see results. Hoping in the long run this was the right decision. But only time will tell. I wish you luck, this is not a decision to be taken lightly.

    Week 3 Standstill

I am going through it too, we can virtually hold each other's hand! I lost the same amount, 25 pounds and the scale hasn't moved in a week, and last week only 1.8 pounds. It is beyond frustrating, it is downright rage inspiring. But it seems like a very common thing--hopefully both of ours will break soon. It is truly hard not to see results.

Post op Aunt Flo is the devil 😈

I am just ending mine and this has been my heaviest and clumpiest (sry gross!) since my cycles right after giving birth. I am wiped.

    ursodiol?

I was given a six month prescription for it and was told to take it twice a day. It is to prevent gall stones.

    3 week slump

Hooray!! I am hoping for this. I have been at a snail's pace for almost two weeks.
  19. I only had two weeks of liquid. Now I have 4 weeks of 2 liquid meals and one 3 oz. soft protein. I have tried grilled chicken breast & rotisserie chicken, but even though the meat was super moist and I chewed it into paste it still felt like rocks going down. Eggs are not agreeing with me, but fish like cod and tilapia are going down okay. I can get about 2 oz down. Mostly though I stick to Greek yogurt. It is the easiest on my digestive system.

35 day Post Op Update (with pics)

Fantastic job, the difference in your stomach is quite noticeable! I slip up too, i think we all have our bad & ugly. 😊

    Any April 2018 Sleevers?!?!

I was sleeved on 4/27, I am in a vicious stall. Only 25 pounds so far and most of that was in the first two weeks. I am guessing it is because I am still under 600 calories, but I am still on two protein drinks a day and 3 oz of soft protein so there is no way really to increase calories yet. Just has to wait it out, but it is hard to go through all of this and not see the results.
  22. Thanks! All I tend to notice is my boobs being gone! My gut is stubborn too, I have no idea how to tackle that. What stinks is my breasts and butt are getting smaller and making my gut look bigger. Do u go to a gym? Maybe a trainer would have some good tips.
  23. Hi all, joining the party. When I was 21 I found myself at 305 and it freaked me out, and I went on a severe diet. I dropped 112 pounds in a year, but after I met my husband and quit smoking I was back up to 305. And then marriage added another 72! My highest was 377 in 2011. From 2011-2017 I was able to get down to 315, but I kept bouncing back and forth from 335 to 315. When I decided to start the sleeve journey I was 333. On my surgery day, 4/27/18, I was 303, and nearly 4 weeks post op I am 278. I question my choice constantly. I am discouraged by the 3 week stall, I miss food, I hate the nausea and the heartburn and all the pills. I am super tired. I know a lot of people regret their sleeve the first month. I just hope to get out of this funk soon. Here is my progress.

    Pre Op diet day 1

How long is your pre-op diet? I was one on the lucky ones and my surgeon only required two days--that was tough enough!
