  1. Love My Fitness Pal. So easy just to scan the bar code on items and have it pop up.

    Hardest Part (outside of eating)

Watching the effects of rapid weight loss. Loose skin was expected but I look haggard. My face is worn and old. I am relatively young. I wasn’t expecting it to be the this bad since I didn’t have a double chin, hence no turkey neck. It is a huge blow to my confidence. And now the only plastics I can think about is a face lift.
  4. Amazing. I had three nutritionist say it stretches your stomach--where do they get their information? I feel like a kid when my parents told me not to turn on the cabin light in the car or we would get a ticket. I only learned in my 30s that was not true they just didn't want me to turn on the light. Getting gaslighted by the professionals...
  5. They say they stretch your sleeve/pouch and give you the killer gas. I don't plan to experiment anytime soon, though on these hot days I am missing my chilled prosecco. Maybe after I get close to goal.

    Non sweet protein

I do the isopure non-flavored as well. I put it in soup and yogurt. I won't lie, it has a bit of an after taste but it is better than the sweet shakes all the time. Premier protein is disgustingly sweet--I can only use it for coffee. If you ever got back to the chocolate or vanilla try the isopure for that as well. Much less potent.

Can I have a half glass of Wine with a steak

Agreed. If you must have the steak take one small bite, chew it extremely well and wait ten minutes to see how you do. I am 9 weeks out on friday and I can't do beef yet. It feels like you are eating rocks. Be careful.
  8. Pee, drink water, pass my swallow test. I was there for less than 48 hours.

    Does the attention bother you?

Immensely. I am a private person, and I don't like the spotlight. The only person I like the attention from is my husband. The rest of the world can go screw.
  10. I only had two days. Happy for it. Didn’t need to be weak and hungry before surgery. I should add that I was under a nutritionist supervision for 6 months “learning” how to eat with my sleeve.

    Slow losers

True frustration: my husband hid my scale. I told him to but now he won't give it back. In his defense, I was getting annoyingly obsessive. I am a multiple times a day weigher btw. I have no advice, other than to say just hang in there. It's science right? Eventually it has to work.

    Sliders

Cashews. And for some reason most veggies. Sometimes I just can’t with the meat and I will eat the vegetables first and I feel no restrictions.
  13. Cookie dough Quest bars and the Atkins coconut almond bars.

    Moment of weakness

Pirate booty---every damn time. My kids eat it and those sneaky little bits off cheddar goodness keep wandering into my mouth. But holy weight loss Batman! @BruceWayne 63 pounds?! I was sleeved on 4/27 and have lost 42---this does nothing to change my opinion that men suck.

    Stall question

Was it hot at the tournament? You could just be retaining water from the heat. But to answer your question, yes I have gained weight during a stall--1.6 pounds also to be exactly.
  16. I get chicken and broccoli usually. According to mfp it is 240 a cup—-which I can’t finish anyway.
  17. I have developed the dreaded "bellydo" as well. Bellydo = "Her belly stick out more 'den her a$$ do!"

    Motherf&*^%$

I have gained weight 3 days in a row. I am up 1.6 pounds without changing anything diet wise. My body is a jerk. I know it is just normal fluctuations and I shouldn't be on the scale everyday but DAMN, WTF?!?! Just when I learn to breathe through my stalls and be all zen with the process, BAM! I told my husband to hide the scale because I am about to murder someone. That is all. Stupid, jerk body.

    Weight loss in Month 1

Men lose faster than women (ya bast*rds ) so 30 pounds is totally doable. I lost 28 in my first month.

Thank you everyone--I just needed to cyber scream. Sorry your body is being a butt too @Frustr8

    No pre-op diet... anyone else??

Only 48 hours of clear liquids for me. Thank goodness.

    Stomach Mating Call

I am almost 8 weights out and I could have a conversation with my stomach. I would say it is normal.
  23. I get what you are saying. After my surgery I said to my husband, " I no longer come with all the original parts." It is a bit...unsettling. Years ago in my early 20s I toyed around with the idea of being a nurse and was briefly in nursing school. Turns out after the kitty dissection portion of my classes, nursing was not for me. But I digress--one of my professors, an old, crotchety gentleman was asked by a student what were his views on gastric bypasses. He wrote some formula on the board--basically I guess the BMR and said if you burn more calories than you eat, you'll loss weight. Period. And then he followed up by saying, "Never, ever let some one cut you open unnecessarily." I took this to heart for many years and was very anti-WLS, not only because I agreed with his sentiments, but because I had managed to lose over 100 pounds on my own, so I knew what was possible. Years later after watching an HBO doc on obesity I saw how fat people's metabolisms are forever changed by their fatness. It is always going to be harder to lose and keep it off once you are fat. And I thought--that is astronomically unfair! Total BS! That is when I truly started to consider weight loss surgery. Yeah, its sorta a cheat, but our bodies are not playing fair, so why should we? It is scary to think about forever altering one's body and doing an elective procedure, but for some people you pass a point of no return and changing the game (and your body) is the only way to win. If it is any consolation, you won't really know it is gone.

    catheter?

    Nope.

    Monthly Weight Loss

I have a sleeve so these expectations might be a bit low for a full bypass, but my nutritionist said that in the first month you should lose about 20 pounds, months 2-6, 8-12 pounds a month, and then months 7-12, 6-8 pounds a month. Of course we all lose differently so I would not panic if you are losing less than the aforementioned.
