Don't pray for me
After a motorcycle wreck, a co-worker with a case of road rash showed up at work with a maxi-pad taped to his shin. His wife is a "buck up and deal" kinda girl. And, believe it or not, in active-shooter training at work (it was required) the police officer said that they carried tampons in their kits. Quick fix for a deep wound until you could do better.

Don't pray for me
This is a straw-man argument. You can't compare interactions with anonymous people on a public forum to interactions you have with family, friends or co-workers. They know you. We don't. None of us on this thread will offer prayers for you anymore. We'll send positive thoughts instead. However, most relationships on these boards are very superficial. If support is requested, the requester should take what is offered in the spirit in which it is given. If the poster wants something specific, they can merely state something like "I need some positive vibes right now." The poster has the duty to set the expectations. No one wants or has the time to get to know everyone to whom they respond. Those of us who believe in prayer, despite our ignorance and superstition, will continue to offer it in the hope that it helps.

Husband does not support my dream to have this surgery
Well said! Bobbi, I do hope your husband comes around. This is a major life-change and will affect both of you whether he wants it to or not. Best wishes.

Newbie post-op questions
Congrats @Jesta on your surgery. Hope your healing proceeds swiftly! No, it's not a problem, you're just lucky! It's still good to get in the practice of sipping, because not all liquids are water, but good for you!

Don't pray for me
I don't get the parallel, but I'll think about it. Are you ok with positive thoughts/wishes sent your way?

Don't pray for me
How is someone offering to do something for you offensive? I understand that you may think it's a waste of time, but why offensive?

How am I gaining weight?!
Yes, but I don't think they'd be convenient for you. I usually go to one at USMD (on I-20 in Arlington). It's the 2nd Tuesday of each month (around 6pm?) and open to all. They've got a really good coordinator and usually have excellent speakers and then some meet and greet time. I've gone to one meeting in Mansfield but that one had a really small turnout that day, so I don't know whether it's generally good or not. If you find any good ones, please let me know. I'm open to all the support I can get

I'm in Kennedale, so south side. Are you going to local support meetings?

Do tired of vomiting
I am so sorry you're having such a rough time. You have every right to be angry. Even though the surgeon is out of town that is no reason to abandon his patients. I'm praying that you get some relief.

Backup birth control/using a second type?
OK, found a use for all the statistics I took in college (6 classes) Odds of pregnancy using stated odds = (1-.91) x (1-.85) = .0135 or 1.35%, so 98.65% effective. But are you going to be happy if you're part of the 1.35% just because the numbers worked for you? Personally, I was ultra cautious. My husband and I used 2 methods a lot of the time if we really wanted to make sure we didn't get pregnant.

Are you “less sweaty”?
It has been an unexpected treat

How am I gaining weight?!
It's not uncommon for people to develop a sensitivity to whey after surgery. The pea protein seems like a good way to determine if the protein is causing it. Your surgeon's office sounds extremely unhelpful. Eleven days of diarrhea should be cause for concern. Hope you feel better.

Don't worry about losing weight yet! You may still be full of the fluids they pumped into you in the hospital and your belly is still very swollen! It will happen!
