    Bariatric surgery and restaurants

I suggest any restaurant that has a menu posted online. Don't be shy about calling up and asking questions about specific dishes. I have eaten at Asian restaurants, Mexican, even Barbeque. There's almost always something appropriate :-)

    February 2018 Success Stories

Don't be so hard on yourself! There are so many factors that play into the weight loss: the total you need to lose, hormones, how well you are tolerating foods/liquids, your doctor's specific diet plan, etc. Try not to compare yourself to others, it just doesn't work. You'll get there!

    Protein First

I know everyone emphasizes protein first when we eat. But, does that mean I can't ever have just a piece of fruit for a snack?

    Protein First

Great info, thanks. I haven't tried any of the Walden Farms stuff. When I ate salads, pre-surgery, I usually just used balsamic vinegar (not vinagrette, just vinegar) and loved it. This will give me lots of options. I'm going to copy and email to myself! Thanks, again!

    Protein First

Thanks, Fluffy. Since we live in the same state, I'm embarrassed to ask you to translate for me: WF dressings? Nooge? I'm still only eating a couple of tablespoons at a time, so your breakfast cereal sounds like a feast to me!

    Friday Face!

The weight loss is making your eyes look so much bigger! Lucky you!
  13. On the top banner of the website, next to your name, is a drop-down arrow. When you select the arrow, near the bottom is a choice for "My surgery" and you can make updates, then save.

    Metabolism?

Wow, I had no idea it was that high. Thanks for the link.

    Metabolism?

I, too, have a very sedentary job (accountant). But you can still work in some exercise. When I take a bathroom break, or go to get ice water, I go to the floor below mine. At lunch, I go outside and walk. Do leg-lifts under your desk. Google "exercise at your desk", there are several options that won't have the entire office staring at you! Get creative! And honestly, if you have genes that set you up to be heavier, weight loss surgery probably can't turn you into a size 2. My doctor will be happy if I get to 191 and maintain. I want to go farther, but I realize he's probably being more realistic. And I would be much healthier than I am now and I'm sure my knees would be pleased. Good luck on your path!

    Tylenol PM

Is it pain keeping you awake? If not, you may not need the Tylenol, just something to help you sleep.
  17. Do they have someone on call on weekends?

New Sleevers - what's your sleeve capacity?

I'm 6 weeks out. In the very beginning, I think your drinking ability is tied to whether or not your stomach swelled a lot after the surgery. Everyone is different. Some really struggle with the smallest amount of liquid, and others don't struggle at all. I was one of the lucky ones.

    Week 2 post op Diet?

A lot depends on your doctor's schedule for food transitions, at 2 weeks, I would have had to puree the soups and couldn't have noodles. I could have yogurt, unsweetened applesauce, cream-of-wheat or thinned oatmeal, basically anything that had a "blended" texture.

    Wow, that's nice!
  21. Gas-X has adult strength chewables that might help. Sorry you're feeling so bad, hope you improve soon!
  22. I never crushed my pills. I left the hospital with 3 prescriptions and the doctor said so long as I could swallow them ok (I could) that I didn't need to crush them.

    Fingers crossed for luck

Shingles is awful. One of my boys got shingles when he was six. It was horrible. (It was a reaction to the chicken pox vaccination.) Good luck to you!
