Definitely work with your NUT, but I guess what they mean is that while legumes and quinoa have Protein, they are not the highest sources of plant Proteins. You have to diversify your diet quite a bit as a vegan to stay low carb but moderate to high Protein. You also want to eat leafy greens (cruciferous vegetables) and maybe some soy. That means doing tons of research, and being prepared to work closely with your NUT on this .

Yeah, I eat a ton of vegetables, tempah, tofu and fruits (well I did presurgery). It is definitely a challenge without any of the Beans, etc. I had 3 weeks of starch free preop and that was interesting :)

Enjoy!!! There are so many wonderful recipes that are chickpea based, the quickest I've ever seen was a vegan chicken salad. Chickpeas replaced the chicken and you prepared it basically the same with mayo, spices, lime, etc. Amazing!!!!

My nutritionist told me (as a Vegan) not to eat all of the Beans and quineo that I used to eat, because of the starches and carbs :( did anyone else hear this message? I dont' want to have to eat meat to get my Protein. I am a Vegan for a reason! I'd love to see recipes.

Can you have sugar free popsicles or Jello? Those have been my go to

not sure if you’re allowed any of these things but I mix sugar free Jello pudding with heavy whipping cream (instead of milk) and make a fluffy dessert. It satisfies my ice cream sweet tooth and I legit only have about 2 tablespoons and I am done. I only crave something sweet like this once a week so I make it and then my husband ends up eating it cause I never really touch it lol

Love these suggestions!! I've been craving something "good" too :)

Hey congrats on your surgeries , did you both have the sleeve ? I’m hsving surgery next Monday August the 6th . So if you don’t mind how much weight have you both lost so far

I was sleeved on 7/24. Since first appointment I'm down 34 lbs. Since surgery last week, I'm down 18!!

  5. Hi everyone!! I'm one week out and doing great!! I can't believe the difference these past few days. It feels like all of a sudden my stomach started to work again and now I can drink much more than I was a few days ago!! I started on pureed today, which for me is cottage cheese consistency. I'm retraining myself that I need food to live, not live for food :)

    How is everyone else doing??

    Thanks :)

  6. Hi all!! I'm 5 days post-op and feeling so much better!!! Good luck to all tomorrow!

My MD recomeneded 64 oz. Water daily. However that is to include the coffee/tea etc. that you drink that day. I have had no trouble consuming that much since my surgery on 7/18/18, but I drank A LOT of water/fluids daily prior to surgery

I could easily drink 100 oz prior to surgery..with the sleeve, I'm lucky to get in 20 oz...

Just because he does things differently doesn't mean he's absolutely wrong. He has patients and who knows how many are succussful or otherwise. He has different views, but almost every program has differences from one to another. Not saying he's right but you never know. It's just this guy is wayyyyy off from what the norm is so you have to wonder and question. I do think he's entertaining if it turns out he's way off base on his suggested program.

I'm enjoying his approach and am anxious to see if I an adapt some of his ways, such as the texture scale for eating.

No one is as smart as that conceited asshat thinks he is. Dude stinks of gimmicks and self-grandiose rhetoric that really excellent doctors wince at (have seen them wince).

He's not even accredited by the board of bariatric surgeons and he's not well thought of by doctors who are. He's not well thought of by the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgeons.

He's a general laparoscopic surgeon who thinks he knows everything about Bariatrics...and he pulls most of what he presents as fact....directly out of his arse.

    Not a fan.

The dude is reality TV material. He's a fad writer. He is not someone I'd trust my health to.

This is the is the information I was looking for...when it seems to good to be true, it probably is! I spent my first liquid day watching his videos back to back today. I gain a lot of new information, but it is not the same as I hear from my own doctor..

I had an issue with constipation....it was pretty rough....about 10 days out, I had to get Milk of Magnesia, and some other help to go. Once I did, I did feel much better. I did end up calling my bariatric center for advice, they told me drink warm Water or tea, and try the MoM and to walk to get things moving....good luck

I always have issues with Constipation post surgeries because of the pain meds they give. I decided to be proactive for this one and got a box of Ducalox ready to go when i get home. I'm also going to order Smooth Move tea.

  10. Tonight was my last night of "real food" (no starch though) for awhile I'm thinking. I had a Vegan pizza on a cauliflower crust, as pizza is my favorite food and it met the criteria. Tomorrow starts 2 days of Clear Liquids for me and I'm hoping to get a lot of sleep after day 1 because I often get hangry lol.

Tuesday is my surgery and from suggestions on this board, I have Biotine mouth spray and nausea disk ready to go, along with Lavender chapstick and a long phone charger. I'm wearing the same clothes out that I come in with and have an extra pair of comfy pj shorts to walk the halls in under my hospital gown...that's it. Everything else will come from the hospital.

I know everyone says to bring a sports bra, I guess because that's more comfortable, but pulling a sports bra over your head and shoulders can be like wrestling with an enormous rubber band. Personally, I'm going with an easy front clasp bra :)

I don't plan on wearing a bra while I'm there lol If anyone sees me walking the day of my surgery, I'm apologizing for the view now lol
