    June Sleevers Lets Get Excited!!!

I am high risk for nausea and vomiting. I got a pill to take 4 hours before surgery. They said that the patch may not be strong enough for me. I have to use the patch when I fly, drive twisty roads, anything that’s not straight.... so I got a pill to take instead. I think that I will be off for 3 weeks from work. I have extended sick leave so have plenty of time if I need it, but also need to get back in a reasonable amount of time.

    June Sleevers Lets Get Excited!!!

Woohoo!Yay for June 6 sleevers! We are getting closer!!! I went for my preop appointment yesterday. I was surprised to get a prescription for Percocet 😲 for after my surgery when I get home. Will I be in THAT much pain after that I will need to take it??!! Omgeee. Also, Just ate dinner - baked zucchini, broccoli, and grape tomatoes with a little garlic salt. It was filling. My dessert later will be my cappuccino protein shake blended with decaf coffee 😁 My girls have friends over tonight and I made them spaghetti and garlic bread with the same veggies that I made myself for dinner. I think I have been mourning food .... I know I will eat food again, but it will not be the same. Trying to focus on feeling good and looking better in my clothes. I am determined to make this work!

    June Sleevers Lets Get Excited!!!

Hi Sleevers! I’m June 6th! Been on the preop diet for 8 days ... 4 protein shakes a day and all low carb veggies plus anything on clear liquid diet. I’m excited and nervous .... and EXCITED! I’m down about 8 pounds with the preop diet. I can’t wait to get the scale moving after surgery! How long is everyone taking off of work? Who have your told?
  4. Hi Everyone! I’ve posted a few times, but mostly reading everyone’s posts. My surgery date is 6/6 and I’m at day 4 of the preop diet. I’m supposed to do 4protein shakes per day - th have only been doing three because I’m not hungry ... or not hungry for that! I have eating the heck out of the veggies that I am allowed and made some soup. I’m really anxious and nervous but ready for my surgery! Man, the preop diet is n joke. We hosted a BBQ Saturday and I had a shake before people arrived and for dinner ate plate of zucchini, onion, squash and mushrooms that we grilled. I still have work to do to get over the mental food thing ... you know, always looking forward to activities for the food! Now I need to learn to focus on everything else besides the food! Any good tips to make veggies feel like they are a meal?
  5. Hi Summer surgery buddies! I just got my date today and it will be June 6th!! Anyone else for 6/6? I’m excited to finally be moving toward the actual date. I’m nervous about the 2 week protein shake prep, but determined. Nice to meet everyone. This time next year should be pretty awesome for summer clothing shopping [emoji4]
  6. I just had my last weigh in today!! They said I should get my insurance approval within a week. My possible surgery dates are 5/30, 6/6, or 6/13 .... of course I am hoping to get 5/30, but depends how many get approved before me and if there is still room on that date. SO CLOSE! HW: 252 CW: 252 Surgery date: TBD - End of May possibly 5’4”

    Time Off Work?

How much time do most people with desk jobs take off of work? I have paid leave, but need to get back soon. I don’t want to rush it, but also don’t want to waste time at home. I was wondering how much time most people are off before going back and what seems to be the most challenging when you return to work.TIA!

    Time Off Work?

That where I am - It sounds like I will be capable ... but I do have the sick time saved up and work at a huge place, so taking 2-3 weeks is not a problem. I may do two weeks then one week work from home then go back in the office.

    Time Off Work?

Ok, everyone's input helps a lot! Sounds like I would be capable of going back to work sooner than I thought for sure!

    Time Off Work?

Yes, mine is covered by FMLA and I have the sick leave to cover whatever time I need - so no worries there. A colleague had the sleeve and she was off work 2 weeks, but said she wished she had taken three. wjgo- WOW! Your return to work so soon is AMAZING! You must be one tough cookie! It’s encouraging to know that it is bearable to return to work soon. HW: 252 CW: 252 Surgery date: TBD - End of May possibly 5’4”
  11. I’m a newbie too. I will have my final weigh in on 5/2, then my paperwork gets submitted and takes 5-7 days for approval, THEN I will get my surgery date about two weeks from the approval date. I’ve seen the psychologist, nutritionist, had my upper GI ... it’s quite a process for sure. I have been researching, lurking, etc to get as much info as I can. I LOVE seeing before and after pics and hearing about experiences .... then I can picture myself with all this weight gone! If feels too good to be true.
  12. I called the surgeon's office today. They will not put me on the schedule until my insurance approves. Final weigh in is 5/2. I was told it takes 5-7 business days to be approved once submitted. I get that there is a process ... but I am so READY to get this done!! So happy for those of you approved and scheduled! I shall join your club soon enough - I hope.
  13. I hope to get a date soon. I’m not sure if my surgeons’s office gives me a date at the same time paperwork is submitted or if I have to wait until approval to get a date ... I think I will call them tomorrow! So exciting to KNOW that you will get your surgery two weeks from tomorrow - I am jealous!
  14. So exciting!!! I can’t wait to get my date locked in! I hope that you have a date soon too! We’ve got this! HW: 252 CW: 252 Surgery date: TBD - End of May possibly 5’4”
  15. I have Health Net and my surgeon’s office told me approval takes 1-2 weeks ... not sure if it’s different for BCBS. HW: 252 CW: 252 Surgery date: TBD - End of May possibly 5’4”

    May surgery

I think my date will be mid to late May. My last weigh in will be on 5/2 and they said it takes week then the wiorgery is scheduled two weeks after that. Still not 100% sure if I am having VSG or bypass. I have a follow-up visit with my sturgeon on 4/16 to find out - depends on the results of my endocscopy. SO NERVOUS and EXCITED!! Good luck everyone!
  17. Hi Everyone. I love reading about all of the different journies and posts with tips and encouragement. My surgeon is learning toward the sleeve for me -depends what the endoscopy shows and I had that procedure this morning. I have GERD and have had it since I was a skinny child! He may end up doing bypass for me instead ... I live in Elk Grove, CA. I worked more than full time. I am a married mom of two. I am a self proclaimed “momager” of my dauighter’s competitive soccer team (team manger). My girls and hubby are thin and healthy weight ... can’t wait to feel like I fit in with them. I sure try ... but its gets pretty tough for me on hikes and vacations when I can’t always keep up. I have one last weigh on on 5/2 then my packet can be submitted to my insurance company. I am SO EXCITED to finally get lose this weight. I’m also scared as hell. Happy to have have this community. I see that there is a closed FB page .... but it does not look like it is secret. Does any one know about this? I hope to get to know more of you and cheer everyone on. We’ve got this people!!!
  18. Good luck! My final weigh in will be on May 2. I have been told by my surgeon’s office that it should be approved with no issues .... but I will still hold my breath (a little) until I get my surgery date! Do you know if many get denied in general? My BMI is 41and I am under the impression that my insurance approves anyone with BMI 40and above with 6 non-consecutive monthly weigh ins.
