    July 2006 Band Crew

Hi! I am feeling so much better! I had a prolaspe and needed to get my old band removed and a new generation band put back in. I was barfing and cramping so badly. I had to go to the ER. My insurance took too long after I saw my surgeon to let me know what they would or wouldn't pay, so now they can just figure it out later... I am back to square one as far as the diet goes... Clear liquids for a one week post op. The difference this time is that I am 175 pounds lighter! I now weigh 215 from 389 (pre-surgery weight.) My goal is to see 199 and hopefully I can get there before my first fill of this new band!

Why am I soooo cold all the time?

Have your iron levels checked. I am very cold all the time. My iron levels are low. I have gone from 397 to 217. I have tried to do the iron pills, but I pb them. I have tried iron rich foods, but I just can't get enough. I am currently trying adult chewable multi vitamins with iron. I have not noticed a difference in the 3 days. I take 3 a day. ZI know most of the pills are just making expensive pee, but I need the iron. Hopefully this helps.

    July 2006 Band Crew

I was banded in July 2006, I was 397 pre surgery, and 347 they day of surgery. I am now 217. I would like to see 199. I am very happy with my 180 pound over all loss. 150 of it has been with the band. I had 4 fills the first 2 years, and have not seen my Doctor since mid 2007...yikes. I was self pay and I am scared that I may have some slippage or pouch distension. Almost every meal is painful and most are "pb"ed. At night I have horrible heartburn and 4 hours after falling asleep, I wake up to thow up...even if I have not eated in over 8 hours! I have tried prilosec, zantac 2 million tums, prescription acid reducers. I have resorted to liquids for 2 weeks with little change, I have tried mushies for 2 weeks with less change. I am worried. I have an appointment next month with my surgeon. Was anyone had any problems like these?

    Ack My Pannus!

I am currently also trying to build a case for PS. I have a large pannus after losing 150 pounds...I have about 50 more to go. I get raw and I hate the way it slaps when I run!! I see my General Care Physician everytime it gets bad, and I have her document everything. I have been diagnosed with several yeast infections and she prescibes a nice powder that clears it up, but it never stays away for long.
  5. HI July 2006ers! I have been on a break from this forum, but I am needing some support, so I am back! I used to be Mariquita, but can't log in anymore... I was banded July 20, 2006. I started out at 380 and I am now down to 245! I went from a size 34W to an 18! I am so happy :biggrin2: with my progress. Things have slowed down conciderably, but I am still losing-just more slowly now. What are you all doing for exercize? Has anyone concidered having any body work done? My stomach is not as great as I want it to be. Glad to be back!

    Constipation SOS

I hate prunes, but I love plums. Plum Smart is a drink that helps me. They used to only make a full sugar one, but now they make a light one that is called Plum Smart Light! It really helps get things going. A travel mug of coffee on a brisk morning walk is also very moving!

    Countdown to Onederland!

I started in the group to Twoterville, and now I am well on my way to Onederland. My One year Bandiversary was in July and I have gone form 380 to 260. I used to post everyday but got out of the habit. I am back now and waiting for that Onederful day when I can say Hello 199!

    what can YOU not eat?

I cannot do any bread, bagels, tortillas. I have trouble with most pastas and most cereals. I absolutely cannot do any chicken or turkey (even dark or moist.) Until after 10:30 am and a cup of coffee, I cannot do any solids or liquids. I have difficulty with morning meds ( Vitamins and suppliments.) What I wish was difficult...chocolate and icecream. They go down so smoothly! Banded 7-20-2006

    July 2006 Band Crew

I have currently lost 108 pounds since my surgery on July 20, 2007. I have had 4 fills, my las one was right after thanksgiving. My weight loss has slowed down, but I am still losing. I think I need another fill, but since I am a self pay, and it is past my 6 month post surgery period ( surgeon's fee was waived for all fills within the 1st 6months of surgery) my fills now cost $880!! Yikes! I have been contemplating a vaction or a fill. What do you all think?

    Goal Weight

How did you decide what your goal weight would be? Was it is your doctor's suggestion? The BMI, height, age, weight calcualtor? Were you happy at one time when you were at that "magic number"? Or a combination of all those and other things? :girl_hug: I want to know the story. Share if you would, please.

    Weight based discrimination

Thank you Teresita. You may think I handled it well, but emotionally I did not. I still think of that remark and how horrible it made me feel. Sometimes I want to shake some sense into people that say hateful demeaning comments.

    Weight based discrimination

I am an elementary teacher. One day I visited a new classroom of kindergarteners and we were talking about writng our whole name. "Some people have short names, and some people have long names!" I told them that I used to have a short name but when I got married I got a new name and it was LONG! :success1: A little girl raised her hand and said, "You couldn't have gotten married!" I asked Why? "She said you are too fat to fit in a wedding dress!" There is now way a 5 year old could come up with a discriminatory remark like that on her own. SOMEONE is teaching this child how to discriminate. She is also being taught that it's OK to SAY the rude discriminating things out loud! :welldone2: I did tell the little girl (in private) that I did get married, that I did wear a wedding dress, and not only was I beautiful bride, I am also a beautiful teacher!)
