I need to make a decision

Hello everyone ☺️ I have been on the site for a while now , I recently finished my kaiser required 6 month classes, labs , fitness test and I received my formal authorization, I am now waiting for meeting with surgeon and surgery date. When I see my surgeon I will need to have made a decision regarding specific surgery i. e bypass or sleeve. I decided to come to this specific bypass site to get some feedback from you guys, my questions are, was the recovery difficult? How much weight did you drop the first few months?, any dumping ? Regrets? Anyone wishing they did the sleeve instead? Etc. whatever you can offer as info on your experience with the surgery . Thanks everyone

I need to make a decision

I have the date to meet with my surgeon on July 3rd and surgery is to follow , I’ve pretty much decided on the sleeve verses the bypass, I thank all of you for your input and advice , it feels nice to have a place to go and talk to people who totally get you .

I need to make a decision

Oh wow I’m originally from northern Cali , I now live in San Diego . What exercises are your go to and any info on the hair loss, thank you soooo much for your response ,I’m getting close and I really want to be ready and succure in my decision
  4. So I received my authorization today , the next step is to consult with surgeon and set the surgery date. Wow😯 , this is all real and now it’s happening fast , I’ve worked really hard in my 24 week classes and lost 31 lbs in the process, but just knowing my life is about to change big time sends little butterflies flying in my stomach , I’ve been really researching and I am now leaning towards the sleeve , I think this will be the best for me , I am 5’7 and currently weighing 305 , my realistic goal is 200 lbs hopefully in 1 year and after that skip that bridge when I get to it. Anyone else looking at a possible surgery in late June of early July , Talk to me 😐

    July surgery

My scheduler told me to expect late June or early july , and include still up in the air about what surgery I’m going to have bypass or sleeve I have until next week to decide 🤪 . It’s getting real, by the way I’m in San Diego
  6. Hey anyone live in the San Diego area , I’m looking for work out group or a walking group , surgery date rapidly approaching and I have started a work out routine , but it gets kinda lonely , plus I need someone to kick me in my butt and say “let’s go work out” !!
  7. So I have completed my 24 week classes required by Kaiser, fitness test done and labs done , I am now just waiting for my surgery date , but I have not yet decided on what surgery I want sleeve or by bass. I started this journey weighing 336 I’m now 305 , I’m 5’7 , and I’ve been a see saw my whole life. I’m leaning towards the by pass becuz I would like to lose the weight rapidly and lose at least 100 lbs , my big hang up about the by pass is the malabsorption, I take an antidepressant daily and I’m afraid I won’t recieve the maximum benefit of my med. so does anyone have advice 😬 . Also any ad ice on hair loss and preventive measures

    Exercise

Greetings Everyone!! Does anyone have comments on how soon you were able to actually start exercising after surgery i.e walking outside , cardio . I'm also interested in knowing how soon you guys started to drive after surgery . I suffer from major depressive disorder and I have found that in addition to my meds being outside and exercising enhances my mood tremendously. I'm so glad I found this site, I have received so much info from all of you and I am excited to know you all will be here after my surgery as a support .

Where are all the 50 something bypass patients?

Hello 50 something friends , I’m 51 and likely to have my surgery in early summer , I have decided to have the sleeve , I am currently pre menopausal and I do have some concerns about possible changes with my mood , I have depression and I am currently on a good med mix , Im hoping my mood remains stable , but I am also being realistic that my mood may decline , and optimistic that the mood decline will be temporary.since tarting much classes I’ve lost some weight and I feel really good , I know the best is yet to come

    Any Kaiser Patients

Wow !! I wonder why the San Diego Kaiser patients are required to to do 24 weeks , did you do 2 meetings per week? Anyway I’m grateful becuz I have learned so much from the classes and if I had another insurance that did not require classes , I would not have been prepared for such a life altering surgery
  16. Hey everyone!! First time on Bariatric Pal, so glad to be here, so I have decided to do have the sleeve, I'm almost done with my classes required by Kaiser and its likely I will have surgery the early summer months. My problem is changing emotional eating and staying mindful that when I'm bored, sad, happy, I don't always need to eat, so since these behaviors must be addressed prior to surgery I have been receiving therapy to help tackle the issue. Anyone have the same issue? If so any ideas?

I think my depression is easing

Wow although today is my first day of really visiting this site , I love it!! I also suffer from depression and although I haven’t had my surgery yet , I worry that the depression will show it’s ugly face , nevertheless I will continue taking my antidepressant and hope for the best.

    Any Kaiser Patients

Thanks for your reply, you didn’t need to have a Psych Eval? I was under the impression that a Psych eval is needed prior to approval
