  1. I’m having the sleeve. My preop is clear liquids only and I can add clear liquid protein on day 5. I’ve been seeing dietician though since February 27 and been eating basically Keto/low-carb and have lost 52lbs so far.
  2. How is preop diet going for you? I start mine (clear liquids only) on Tuesday! Sept 5 surgery date also!
  3. @orchids&dragons is your surgery tomorrow? In FW? I am sept 5 in FW
  4. And I don’t know why that Halloween thing is on my post. Sorry!
  5. Right. I was just adding my view re:expectations. ?
  6. https://www.lakeside.com/Garden---Outdoors/Outdoor-Decor/Halloween-Lighted-Inflatables/287m/prod3080513.jmp?categoryId=cat2470037 I am 4’11” and I never want to be 100lbs. My body type is muscular and hour glass and if I were 100lbs I would have significantly less muscle and would have no curves whatsoever. I would look like a 4th grade boy. There’s so much more to healthy weight than height. Height is important but so is your build, body comp (muscle weighs more than fat), your body type/shape and your frame. Just my view on it.
  7. I chose VSG bc DS is a much riskier surgery and more difficult to perform and I did not want the blind stomach left inside me as with bypass or the dumping. I watched my aunt fall into a sleeping coma and sweating every holiday that she took a bite of pie. I do not want that at all. I also did not want the jejunum messed with. I wanted it to be as much my normal body as possible bc intestinal issues run in my family and I didn’t want to change anything affiliated with the small intestine. I am not interested in malabsorption. I am interested in having VSG as a tool to help me, not something that will allow me to binge without consequence. I want to deal with all the issues related to my obesity, not just make it so I can continue in these behaviors and not gain weight. That’s why I chose VSG!
  8. Is this the sept 2018 group? I’m scheduled for sept 5 also! Just found out yesterday that I was approved and got the date. Looks like there are quite a few scheduled for September 5! I start preop 8 days prior.
  9. I finally got my surgery date!!! September 5!
  10. Sabrena I have been eating low carb. I’ve basically been doing a ketogenic diet. Low carb moderate protein high fat. I’ve averaged about 11.5 lbs per month and have slowed down recently bc I’ve been having too many carbs. I want to get back into ketosis before surgery so that I’m burning fat during my liquids and post op weeks even when I’m not eating much. I’m hoping it will help me have more energy and lose faster also. Ketosis is basically when your body is starved of carbs so it switches to use fat for fuel instead.
  11. I am 4’11” and started with BMI about 61 I think. It’s about 51 now. I was 301 at consult. Have lost 46 lbs since March and hoping for July surgery date. Just waiting on insurance now. It seemed so daunting at first when I realized I had passed 300lbs but now I’m trying to see it as I just get to have bigger success. My goal weight is somewhere around 120 so that would be a 60% total body weight loss, or 180 lbs. I have high hopes and am looking forward! I’m excited to be 255 now and hope to lose a few more lbs before surgery.
  12. @brightfaith I am 4’11” !
