I have always enjoyed broth. It can be warmed and reminds me of Soup. I think it tricks my mind. Popsicle if you're needing something to chew. (sugar-free of course). The Protein Drink I have is GNC NitroTech whey gold. I have 2 flavors, mocha Cappuccino and chocolate banana split. It has 76 servings in one container and 3 a day will last me about 25 days for $60. I tried the berry cheesecake and it had a horrible after taste. That's just my opinion though.

liquid diet starts tomorrow for one week...im wondering on the liquid diet does sugar free Jello and popsicles count as liquid and do they have to be light colored ? i have to do 5 shakes a day.
Sugar free Popsicle and sugar free Jell-O Gelatin counts on mine as a liquid. Even coffee with artificial sweetener without Creamer, broths, tea with artificial sweeteners count as liquids. I only have to drink 3 Protein Drinks add long as I'm getting 60 grams Protein. I bought powder from GNC because it came out cheaper. I'll have to drink mine for about a month after too at least.

2 weeks, and I'll be honest, I've sucked at it. My hardest time is at night. Tomorrow is mine and my hubby's anniversary. I told him after dinner, no more cheating. I do so good sticking to it until then.

I am in the Atlanta area. How about you?
Our dates are a little different. I'm April 3rd. But I'm right outside Nashville. My Dr is in Nashville.

Surgery is only a tool but it's not easy. I've just gone through almost two rather grueling weeks. In the end, it's all about a tool that works. I don't want to be a part of the 90-95% that lost weight and fail to keep it off any longer. Getting off of the yo-yo train feels good

Have you had your surgery? Mine is in 10 days.

Saying she's cheating isn't necessarily verbal abuse. You getting frustrated is normal when our loved ones don't get what were doing. Like someone else said educate him. There's a lot of non wls people that believe we're taking the easy way out. I didn't hear anything extra along the lines of him putting her down. My hubby is a great guy and I get frustrated with him constantly, but there's no verbal or physical abuse. And I'm a survivor of major abuse. I'm sure your boyfriend gets frustrated as well. This is an emotional time for you. Also, maybe he has a fear of once you get smaller you'll leave him for "something better", maybe he's insecure. My husband and I have discussed this fear he has. But my hubby has loved me fat, sick, healthy, pregnant, etc. But he's insecure and is afraid I'll want someone skinny like me (he's heavy, not obese). Have a heart to heart with boyfriend. If you love him communication is key.

I would hate to have a job where drinking decided how well I worked in the company. I want my success by how hard I work. Not how much I drink or eat. After a wls of any kind going to dinners with clients will be rough, but once again it's not about what we put in our mouth but what comes out our mouth. The sole purpose of wls is learning healthier habits. Another thing surgeons are hard on us not drinking our calories. No one said a drink here and there was the end of the world, but keeping up with the guys is unhealthy behavior and a lot of liquid calories.

I really do agree with what you're saying here....but your partner is a little bit different of a relationship than your mother in law, no?
I dunno...I couldn't look the other way on my spouse treating me like this. My mom in law...sure. Hubby? Nope.
But to each their own. Takes all kinds to make a world:)
Regardless who it is, some people just don't understand addiction of any kind. They don't understand why something is so hard.

There's nothing wrong being a recovering alcoholic, I've been in recovery 7 years. Your sales job shouldn't have anything to do with how much you can drink or "hang with the boys". Sales is about how good you can pitch your product. There's numerous reasons not to drink, not including health reasons. A woman could be pregnant, it could be a religious moment (lint and Ramadan), people that fast to cleanse their body, don't enjoy alcohol, etc.

I don't see any judgemental statements in the beginning. If we aren't obese, the Dr won't do any kind of wls, also choosing not to have a surgery because of not being able to drink wine does need to be reflected on what's important. I love pizza, chips, pies, etc but I have to give those unhealthy things up for my health. I'm not doing this for looks. I'm 35 and I have diabetes, overactive bladder, high cholesterol, and Migraines. I'd rather learn a new healthier way at life than to die before I'm 40 and leave my boys orphans. I've never seen people judge someone for not drinking.

If I have one regret it is that I did not make any real serious efforts to lose weight up until the 2 week pre-op diet. The attempts were really going through the motions. Otherwise, things have been plugging along. I am really starting to crave food of a healthy variety. Protein Shakes get older than dirt, very fast.
I myself would love to chew some food. Carrots, cucumbers, fruit, is settle for gum right now.

There's no need for a new man. Like any addiction, there's so many people out there that just don't get it. I'm a recovering alcoholic/addict ( 7 years this May). My mother in law just don't get it. Instead of making myself mad talking to her about addictions, I realize people are entitled to their opinion. Everyone else's feelings for me are none of my business. If I talk about recovery to those in AA, I am maintaining my own serenity. It's not up to anyone to provide me peace, but me. You have a slew of support right here. Just tell him that's his feeling and he had a ridge to his feeling. Then come on here and brag about that amazing weight loss.

My surgery is April 5th. I started my 2 week liquid diet today. After reading reviews from others, I chose premiere Protein. So far so good. They are not chalky at all.
I went to GNC and bought a tub of nitrotech whey gold, I bought the chocolate mocha Cappuccino and chocolate banana split. They're both so yummy and I can use them for my clear liquid after surgery. The tub will last me about 25 days and that's with 3 shakes a day. With GNC if I don't like the flavor (one I didn't) you can return it within 30 days. It has 2g of carbs and 24g Protein for 1 scoop. It's I think a 6 pound tub. And thank you for the advice about Iron and Calcium.

I’m on 3 weeks liquid so today is day 3 for me. Getting easier. Just very boring! My doc allows us a few raw veggies for the crunch/chew factor! Carrots never tasted as good as they did today!
I would love to have a carrot right now. I can have light Greek yogurt or cottage cheese. Other than that it's broth, Jell-O, sugar free Popsicle, Water, g2 Gatorade, etc. I eat my 1/2 cup of cottage cheese mindfully. Think of me with your next carrot. [emoji38]

I don't have a surgery date yet, but have been trying different liquid things.
I really like the chicken broth/soup from Unjury. It has 20 grams of Protein. Unjury also has pea Protein that I like added to Soups. For some reason unflavored whey protein adds a strange aftertaste/texture to Soups that is just disgusting to me.
Everyone has different opinions, those are just my few favorites. I would also like to hear other people's ideas.
No matter what, find a Vitamin routine that works for you and remember not to take Calcium and Iron at the same time. supplements for life are important; vitamin/mineral deficiencies can be serious. I am a nurse and have seen all sorts of bad stuff happen to bariatric patients that don't take thier Vitamins.
Don't let it be you!
What happens mixing Calcium and Iron?

I usually love broth, but the beef broth I bought and I believe it's Bone Broth is too salty. I can't tolerate it.

April 14th for me!!!! Glad to have buddies [emoji4] I am going to need some serious help/encouragement during the 2 week liquid pre-op diet.
Man I'm on day 2 of my 2 week pre op diet. I was so grumpy last night and wanted to eat my sons burnt pizza my husband fixed for him. I almost cried when my husband held me accountable. Today isn't as bad. I'm realizing what satisfies me more. It's more mental hunger than physical. I've started logging my "foods" on my bariastic app to get used to it.

@olivia2018 the only thing I’ve stocked up on is Premier Protein drinks and I’ve tried a couple flavors that I liked but I want to find a good chicken broth Protein supplement
There's a Protein Powder that's chicken flavored I believe. I think it's nectar brand.

Mine is April 3rd, I started my 2 week liquid diet today and I have a horrible headache and I'm sad. I haven't ate anything I wanted to but I tried to manipulate my husband to co-sign my bs. I've been told after the 3rd day it gets better. I keep reminding myself if I slip, I'll resent myself so much.

Unfortunately there are so many drs that are legal "pushers". I've seen them prescribe ambien to known addicts. That's also why the opiate epidemic is so high is from the doctors over prescribing and patients not being educated.

Web MD isn't a Dr and if you're using it for something other than what it's intended for, that's addict behavior. Most of us didn't get here by not being an addict of some kind. Nowhere does it say it's used for trouble sleeping. It says it helps by you falling asleep. Your brain is transmitted wrong signals. It's not healthy to take medication for something is not intended for. Any drug and alcohol counselor will tell recovering addicts and alcoholics to stay away from it. Not being able to sleep isn't an allergic reaction. The melatonin in your body has been changed somehow, more than likely from a big change such as surgery.

I'm the same way. I've been constipated this whole time. I tried Miralax with NO luck. I'm trying Smooth Move tea a friend recommended tonight and we'll see how that works.
