    Losing while eating???

Yes! Your body is adjusting to having more food again. I am 5 months post -op (sleeve) about week 4 i strayed the same weight about 2 weeks and then started losing steadily again. 5 months out and I'm still losing about 3 to 4lbs a week. Exercise is the key! I started off doing it 2-3 times a week and now I go to the gym 4 times a week. It also depends on how much you have to lose too. Heavier people like myself lose it a little faster. Don't worry! You got this! 😊

How long did you take off of work?

My job is both desk and active. I work in a health care type setting as well and Doctor had me out 4 weeks. I wasn't allowed to lift over 20 lbs the first month, so that and he wanted me to focus on my new lifestyle before going back to work.

    Not sure it's working

Hmm I'm not sure what could be causing that since you didn't try any new foods. I have never seen anyone on this site mention any burning sensations. Could possibly be a mild case of food poisoning? I have had the exact opposite issue; Constipation! It has been very difficult and painful to go. But I started taking milk of magnesia and that helped some.

    Not sure it's working

I had the sleeve done a little over a mouth ago. I also had right shoulder pain for a week or so. It's because of the gas they put in you for surgery. I also had a had time with getting everything in. I still haven't reached protein and water goals fully yet, but it gets better. I was also told not to drink/eat tomato juice or soup at least for the 1st month due to the acidity.

    Not sure it's working

Everybody is different. Many people still feel hunger, but the benefit of the surgery is you will not be able to eat nearly as much as you were pre-op. The first weeks were probably the worse. You're not alone when it comes to cravings. I still miss pizza and pastas (especially when its being eaten I front of you). Once you're able to eat more solid foods, you will probably feel differently. With all the anxiety and emotions, I know its tough, but try to stay positive! Good luck to you with your journey!

    Side sleeper?

I'm a side/stomach sleeper. The first 4 or 5 days I slept with a bunch of pillows stacked against the wall by my bed so I could sleep up right. I slowly transitioned to my side. By maybe day 8 or 9 I had no pain laying on my side and by 2 weeks i was sleeping on my stomach again.

    Any April 2018 Sleevers?!?!

Sleeved on 4/25 and I have lost 49 lbs. so far. I mostly eat twice a day, sometimes 3 times a day. Still trying to get all my protein in. Anyone using flavorless protein powder to mix with different foods? If so, what brands mix really well with everything and truly flavorless.

    1wk Post Op- First Complication

I was really itchy after surgery too. And my skin was really dry and peeling when it finally came off. As for the diet upgrade, just take it slow. Your body will tell you what you can handle. I was nervous at first too. Start off with simple things like Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, thinned refried beans, and thinned oatmeal.

    Nerve Wreck !!!!!!!

I felt the same way right before surgery. All kinds of thoughts run through your head, but it's a pretty quick procedure and you are not likely to have complications. Try not to think about the negative and focus on the positives and the reasons you chose to do it. Good luck to you as you start your journey!!

    Got my date

Congrats to starting your journey! To me, the pre -op diet was very difficult, but try to stick with it so surgery will go smoothly (some surgeons will not stop surgery if your liver is to large). Good luck! Can't wait to hear about your success!

Medical and phase 2 food options

I never thought about getting a medical bracelet, but good idea. The first things I tried was greek yogurt, cottage cheese, and refried beans. Then introduced canned tuna and chicken, ground meats and thin sliced deli meat. I can also have soft cooked veggies. Recipes I have been using recently is riccotta bake, turkey taco bowl, hamburger casserole (all without any type of bread, rice or noodles). Pinterest is my go-to site for bariatric meal ideas.

    Almost 1 month out

I love to see everyone's progress! I can totally see the difference!! Your stomach and face are smaller! Congrats to you!! You're doing great!!
  14. No worries! I took no offense to your comment. I was referring to the guy who suggested that anything other than his plan was a internet troll or patients just making up their plans as they go. Every single person I have talked to has all had a different plan than I have. I even know someone who started solid foods 30 days after surgery, but all have been very successful and have had no complications. Its interesting how different everyone's journey is.
  15. Totally not a troll... In fact, why would someone lie about what something like that?? The day I left the hospital I was on Full Liquids (clear only in hosp.) Day 8 I went to soft foods. I just started off with the softest things like yogurt, cottage cheese, etc. Then worked my way up to ground meats. I have not once had a bad reaction to anything. I totally agree with @sillykitty, everyone's healing process is different. What works for me may not work for you. Doesn't mean our surgeons don't know what they're doing. My surgeon has a very high success rate so I doubt he'd tell me to do anything that would negatively effect me.

    Gas after surgery

I had that feeling 1st week or so, now i just have it periodically. Gas X helped me as well. Dr. Approved me to take it.

    3 days post op VSG

Welcome to the journey! The first week is the hardest. My majority of my pain was gone by then. Just some discomfort.

    5 weeks post op

Had my surgery 4/25/18 (a little over 3 weeks ago). I've been doing good. Nothing I've eaten has given me a bad reaction yet. Still having trouble getting in all my protein and water in, though. It's tough and imagine it's going to be much more difficult when I go back to work. 😕
  19. My doctor told me that everyone hits a plateau for a few weeks. "3 week stall" is what I've heard its been called. He said the body is adjusting to taking in more calories. He said after that I will start losing again. I haven't hit a plateau yet, but I'm dreading it too because I guess in my mind I just constantly need to see good results. I am a little over 3 weeks post-op by the way.
  20. Wow, that sure is a long time to wait to be upgraded! I was upgraded to soft foods 8 days after my surgery! Haven't had any problems. I feel your pain because I was sick of the protein shakes too! I see today is your follow up so hope you get some good news!

    Purée stage ideas

I never went to puree stage. I went from full liquids to soft foods. I pretty much ate greek yogurt, cottage cheese, no fat Refried Beans, scrambled eggs, pudding for the 1st 7 days of the diet. Then introduced canned chicken and tuna, deli meats and soft cooked veggies. This week I will introduce ground meats.

    Week 4

I'm almost at week 3 post-op. I have tried a few things, but my favorite recipe right now is Ricotta Bake. It's like lasagna without noodles. Recipe is below. The serving size is for a regular stomach so of course our serving is about 1/4 of that. I also added turkey pepperoni and zucchini with mine. INGREDIENTS 8 ounces ricotta cheese 1⁄2 cup grated parmesan cheese 1 large egg, beaten 1 teaspoon italian seasoning salt & pepper 1⁄2 cup marinara sauce (or alfredo sauce) 1⁄2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese DIRECTIONS Mix ricotta cheese, parmesan, beaten egg, seasonings together and place in a oven proof dish. Pour marinara on top. Bake it in the oven @ 450°F. Before putting on mozzarella, bake for 10 min. then add the mozzarella and put it back in the oven for about 15 more minute. Total bake time: 20-25min. Nutrition Information Serving Size: Yields about 4 servings (1/2 cup per serving) AMT. 23. I'm in San Antonio. Had the sleeve done April 25th. I had coverage, but also had to pay a pretty penny out of pocket lol. My insurance covered 13,000 of it. Good Luck to y'all who are going through surgery soon!!!

    Pain when coughing or moving

I had surgery done on April 25th. I had problems with coughing and movement for about a week. By maybe day 8 or 9 there is very little pain left where the incisions are. I'm now almost 3 weeks post-op and I have no pain at the incision sites at all.

    Any April 2018 Sleevers?!?!

I thought I was the only one having taste and smell issues! The smell of cooked food smells horrible! In fact, everything smells the same. Some things like eggs have a really off taste to me right now, but it feels ok on my stomach. I guess its not a bad thing because I'm not really wanting to eat. Does anyone know how long this lasts?
