I am dying to add some sort of different flavor or texture to my diet. Tuesday is my 2 week post-op and I will (hopefully) finally be able to move on to phase 3, pureed diet!!

My wife just brought home some vegetable broth and the different flavor is welcoming. SF popsicles have been my go to bland buster but I can’t wait for stage 3 either.

  2. Welcome to BP! My bypass surgery was this past Tuesday and last night was my first night home. My biggest advice is to walk. I did way more laps at the hospital then required and found myself awake at 3 am today and walked a half mile in my house - so far 2.5 miles for the day. Trying to work the bloat out. Feel free to ask questions. Summer and previous months bypass buddy threads contain lots of info as well.

How are you now that you’re home? The bloat goes away soon!
Doing much better. It felt SO nice to sleep in my own bed even if it only lasted five hours. Up at 3 AM and walked almost half a mile just in my house by 3:30. Gas pains suck but it’s working out. 😎

Learning quickly that I was a gulper when it came to drinking Water. Never thought a single pop sickle would be too much either. Just trying to stay hydrated and move around.

  4. Surgery yesterday and doing better today. Last night sucked. Couldn’t sleep at all. I think I slept for an hour then no more then 5-10 minutes. Every time I’d fall asleep my o2 levels dropped and the alarm would jolt me awake. Barium swallow this morning showed no issues so reward is ice chips - so good after going 36 hours nothing to drink. Bring petroleum free chap stick! Life saver those hours. Good luck to future November bypassers!

  5. It’s 0430 and surgery starts at 0730. Let’s get this done! See you on the other side as I cross a new threshold. ;)

And one of my all time favorites songs was first up on Pandora this morning. What a great send off!

I wonder why i see everyone having to do clear diets and my livershrink diet has it where i can eat??? Dont understand

I asked my doctor about this and he didn’t think the long clear liquid diets did much past a certain time frame. I’m sure it has to do with each patient as well but in his office it’s 2-7 days of liquid. I started liquid today, tomorrow is bowel prep and meds to “sterilize” digestive tract, surgery the next morning.

Does everyone have to wash with the surgical Soup the day before and morning of surgery?

  7. Good luck @MikeIL!!! How long is your clear diet?

Man, had a scare last night, ended up getting, I guess, a kidney stone last night and it really freaked me out. I've had one before and it was nothing like this one. I was really worried that it was something that would have prevent surgery due to not being able to get the catheter, but my surgeon and my PCP don't seem to be concerned now that they "symptoms" have stopped. What a roller coaster ride the last 12 hours, oh, and I put an offer on a new house today just to really add to my stress....

  8. I consider myself a newbie around here, and in the six or so months I’ve been a member this is the first drama I’ve noticed and it sucks. I hope you get resolution to your issues but I wouldn’t throw in the towel on the forum because a couple people who don’t know you started whining on your thread and ruined it for you.
