    T- 14 days

Thank you. I did search out many, many past threads of all kinds so I knew complications but it just seemed like more people were having complications and posting - just a casual momentary observation....hopefully. I don’t fear the surgery itself at all, in fact I kinda of welcome the rest for a couple of days!!! I told myself a last January it was time for change, just didn’t think it would take quite this long, but here it goes!

    T- 14 days

Thank you! It is great to hear from someone who just had wls and that they are doing great! I think a lot of times most people don’t post unless they have a problem so thank you for posting that it’s not that bad!

Congrats. Don’t sweat the hospital. They will take care of you, just keep hitting the button. 😎

How did you pick your user name?

I had just got done cutting the grass listening to an old Will Smith song when I found the forum. 😎
  6. Heck I have a pair of 36 Levi’s from 20 years ago!

    6 Month Update

Thank you for your post. I’m 18 days out and feeling nervous and cold feet. Your post is encouraging.
  8. The other night I finally told my parents of my WLS decision. I knew my mom knew (thanks sister!) but had said nothing about it to me. When I brought it up I was pretty shocked how instantly supportive my dad was about it, this coming from a retired physician who was a runner most of his life. Mom said she didn’t tell him so I knew his response was true and genuine. This brings the total to six people who currently know about my journey. I manage a group of salespeople and tell them all the time bad news doesn’t get better with age and in this case the same held true. I was apprehensive because mom has been trying to get me to sign up for WW for over a year but I’m just not into their program. MRC was great when I did it the first time but like most the weight came back with a vengeance. Now I’m under a month from surgery - apprehensive, nervous, excited, etc but ready to get on with the show. This forum has been a big help - I’ve read so many threads, past and present, so thought I’d share a little bit.
  9. Kevin Smith aka Silent Bob, looks like he has had WLS. His story is he had a mild heart attack in March, joined WW and has lost near 100 pounds in six months. I really think he secretly had WLS, especially looking at his face. It just has that sunken look to it, just like Al Roker. I know it’s his own business and we each treasure our own secrecy, but if he did have WLS it would really open the doors of discussion and hopefully acceptance from the skinnies! Plus if he did and WW is taking credit, oh boy, that’s not cool. Thoughts?

I thought it would be more clear...

Separ1418 - how is it going now?

    Girls Do Poop

This stuff does work but does have an odor of its own. My understanding is that it creates a surface on top of the water to contain most of the smell from the bowl. Air borne dispersion is controlled by the added added scent. Btw, it does NOT muffle sounds LOL!

You don't need WLS just go on a diet!

Only five people know about my decision. It’s no one else’s business and besides those same people will congratulate you later when you lose weight. Most people are just conditioned with that type of response due to lack of knowledge. I said the same thing to my neighbor ten years ago - I just truly didn’t understand the path he or I were on.

    61 lbs in 6 weeks!

    Congrats! Quite a transformation.

    Good luck!

    Why liquids only?

I agree 100% with MattZ. It clearly varies so much across the board per doctor. My pre-op visit is one week prior to surgery and at that point the Doc will tell me how long I'm doing a liquid diet, somewhere between 3-7 days.

    Pre op diet

My pre-op visit is one week prior to surgery so I won't know until then what it looks like, but according to the paperwork from the doctors office, for a bypass, it is 3-7 day liquid diet.

Gained wt during 6 month diet period

I lost weight the first three months, then gained it back plus a couple the last three months. When I gained the first time I talked to my doctors office and their only concern was that I didn't fall below 40 BMI (not a problem!) and that losing and gaining was not an issue....at least with my insurance...so I would give them a call. Remember they do this every single day and know how the insurance game works.

    Hydration and exercise after bypass

I realized I never did thank everyone for their responses on this post, so to all - "thank you"! I am scheduled for bypass November 13.

    November Bypass?

Same for me. As for FB, I'd prefer to stay here and a little more private. I just don't trust FB privacy and for now this is a big secret that only a few key people know about.
  21. So I’m roughly one month before surgery and curious what others did to prepare. I’m ordering vitamins so that I can make them a routine, I’ll stop the relaxing drink or two after dinner and start walking more but is there anything else that would be a good idea? My physician meeting is one week prior to surgery so any liquid diet will be less then seven days, which I’m not looking forward to doing!
  22. GettinSkinnywithit

Month before surgery - what changes did you make?

Thanks for all the suggestions and tips! I’ve been doing half caf coffee for some time so probably should transition all the way to decaf. The containers is another good idea. I have two kids so I can’t get rid of crackers and things like that. Not a lot of junk food in the house, other then chips and crackers.

What did you tell people at work?

Same here - I’m not comfortable at all talking about WLS and only my boss knows, in fact he first put the idea in my head years ago when he mentioned he thought about it. I like the hiatal hernia bit since it’s true. I was thinking about an ulcer cover up with a special diet after. I drink protein shakes all the time at work so that will be normal post op.
