Diabetics (cure or reduce?)
Frustr8 replied to Pat Pac's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
But let's agree to have hope until we know different. My daddy who died in September 1998 of a massive rear wall heart attack was losing his sight, his doctor predicted he would have been legally blind by the next spring. And Mama, until she became diabetic, never could successfully lose weight. She had macular degeneration, Daddy had open angle glaucoma on his side, that is the one that is inheritable, so if I'm not careful with my vision I could end up,with only a round donut of vision I can't eat chocolate because of allergies, really don't crave any candies and I used to make wonderful fudges for others. Lost my desire now for other desserts. Now hope that surgery will provide the RIGHT tool for, for me this is the right time for a change in my life. And I will, dodge the bullet heredity had aimed at me๐ -
Little Green getting little(r)
Frustr8 replied to Little Green's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Maybe you are in a Whatever mode, after so many blipd, false starts and stoppage you're smooth enough to say Whatever. Gosh I hope the reflux dissipates and then disappears. You were one of the first who reached out to me when I was a rank newbie. I just want the Good things to happen for you.๐ -
So thankful for support at home - and sometimes it's funny
Frustr8 replied to Miss Topaz's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am glad my Tomkitten( my son) is super supportive, would do any and everthing for me. Other child, RD short for Rotten Daughter, pffft, tried explaining about my surgery, turned conversation to herself, said again Do you realize I'm going to have major surgery? Her answer "Whatever" No her real name is NOT RD, she has a perfectly lovely one, the best her dad and I could find. We do share a middle name, she changed, the spelling on Facebook, that way No one will know we are related. She earned the RD title and works everyday to,maintain it. You,know how every family has one of those? It is my sorrow I gave birth to mine.๐๐ญ๐ช -
I have something new to whine about, Sharon's posting reminded me, okay? Am I the only woman of my age or on this forum to NOT have had a hysterectomy? My previous to current PCP every time he did a pelvic and/or Pap test made disparaging remarks about my cystocele and rectocele. Kept saying,"You ought to have that fixed" And we all can figure what he meant, he wanted me spayed in the process. Finally after hearing this repeatedly and thinking since was a bono fide doctor, I drug myself off to the friendly neighbour gynecologist. Mine had retired,so I. had to see his replacement, Dr Prior. I'm going to speak his name because I'm sure he doesn't know of Bariatric Pal, let alone frwuent here. So here I am trussed up on his examing table like. a virgin ready for the sacrifice. So I told him what I was there for, to offer myself for a hysterectomy, if necessary. Durn fool, laughed at me while he was examining me, said if PCP thought my innards were bad he should see some of the things he'd seen. I offered myself for an uterine sacrifice and he DId not Want it. Some days you just can't win, made snide remark that unless I decided to service an entire army, camp I wouldn't get enough mileage to justify it. Fast forward a few yeas and it's the day I met Bariatric Surgeon #1. .August,2015. I am in his office, still, fully clothed. He tells me to lie back on his table, pushes my slacks down enough that entire abdomen is exposed and starts palpating my abdomen. Has some sort of junior doctor trailing along with him, perhaps a resident? Anyway he's prodding my belly with, his fingertips like a wayward bowl of bread dough, looks up and says Dear and what year did you have your hysterectomy? I said"I've never had a hysterectomy!" He says to junior doctor "She's gynecologically, intact, can you believe it?" Junior doctor, put half-smile on his face out of embarrassment. El Surgeio keeps muttering,to himself over and, over that phrase. Finally tells me he's through and pushes my slacks back up. Now I admit this still shocksme, I never knew it was an entrance exam , do you not qualify,do,you have an uterus? I admit at my age. I'm not using it for, much. The gynecologist didn't want it, now the general surgeon is lusting after it? Don't make sense to me! Then I had been having some urinary problems so went to urologist here in my town. First question they asked,me when I get in that doctor's examining room " Have you had a hysterectomy?" Now listen to,me folks, I offered my female parts to the proper specialist, he yawned in my face, said the equivalent of Thanks but No Thanks. Now all the sudden you're interested too. So I go through the ecplaination, they must not have written anything down because every time I visit they ask the same thing. About ready to tell them to give me a chair with half the seat missing, a weedwhacker, with string, plug it in, I will do myself and no body, will have to ask again. I'm feeling, inadequate still having it!๐ช

Wrong, not a 1 of the3 did, so I poured,it,over top of vanilla ice cream. And to this day,if I bake a blueberry, pie, I have to eat it all. Well I wanted to, anyway! But I was nice and offered anyway.

Bariatric haul! What have you bought for your journey or plan to buy?
Frustr8 replied to Yo-yo girl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
wow that does sound. cool. I have like a red plastic file envelope, wit a fee things in it from #1,program, only a few sheets so far from program #2, neither deal, with post surgical diets etc. I would, have gotten all that from #1 had they not kicked me to the curb, before my surgical date assignment. And frankly,i pitched most of their crap after what they did to me. All I kept was pages detailing, the differences between sleeve and bypass and the red plastic envelope. And a hearty f.u. to them too.Life is too short to waste any more time on them, I now mourn the hours and hours I Did. I did glean a nice pulmonologist, and,a wonderful, lady cardiologist from the above, but the rest leaves a bitter as gall taste in my mouth. -

Almost quit on Day 1 of my pre-op liquid diet

Try for a 7 or 8 footer- I want to be there too and my "tushi" hasn't narrowed,THAT much๐ญ -
And also, you know I always think of something after I post, many of us are Vitamin D deficiency-cursed 1. increased age(dang it!) 2. poor diet, although most milks are now vitamin-enriched as are many (spit spit) processed foods. 3. and probably the most likely, we don't get enough natural sunlight to,process our own. Alas I am a fair-skinned redhead, which do I desire more-skin cancer or Vitamin D deficiency. As the late Jach Benny said in a comedy skit: Your money or your life, Mr Benny, which will it be? Jack Benny: I'm thinking, I'm thinking! Have a dose of Pacific Ocean Peace 'my friend!๐

Can the surgeon leave more of the stomach if requested with VSG surgery
Frustr8 replied to JR15's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
@CreekImp from my research the most common size bougie is #35French. That said each surgeon will use 1. the size best for each patient, 2, the size his surgical instructors taught him with 3. the size he feels most comfortable using, bottom line you'll have just the RIGHT one for you๐ -
Hiya Dragon64, so how did yesterday's appointment go? Hoping you heard only, good things. Hey, remember how on American Idol RUBEN SUDDERD had a 205 t-shirt on? We need to get you one of those, then when you've lost all your weight, see I got Faith you will, you hold it out to the side in an "After" picture to show how, much you've lost! Promised MANPOWER if he' d put on one of his old Nebraska football jerseys, I'd do the same with my Ohio State one. Stay easy, stay breezy, and smile today๐

Lap band to bypass... I need assurance this wonโt be another failure
Frustr8 replied to swimmer0302's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Kimcicle and Swimmer I'm sure somebody will weigh(Pun/Non-Pun?) with an answer. I will be your bypass sister but I am coming straight there, no band side trail, but we can be kangaroos together- because we will all have pouches.๐๐๐ -
Diabetics (cure or reduce?)
Frustr8 replied to Pat Pac's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am the adult child if 2 diabetics, although I'm not in your family, may I come to your reunion? I am hoping my (nearby?) W LS will be not only a tool for weight loss but a prevention for diabetes also. One of my internal medical doctors told me due to my strong family history, not only both parents but every one of my father's surviving-to-adulthood 10 siblings. That was age 35 so for 38 years I've been a fat walking-time-bomb, surgery can cut the wires before I explode. Truly would you wish diabetes on someone if they could avoid it? Wish me well, would you please? I think I can be sweet without "sugar", Your cousin-in-weight. ๐ Frust8 -
A little poetry for all of us Weight Loss Surgery, it's not the EASY way You have to make a commitment each and every day Your diet,is forever changed but then so is your body All those "Nay-Sayers" they are just being snotty! You wager your body, there will be some pain But better health and fitness you will gain. I'm changing my life and lifestyle, that is true But with theโคand support of my Bariatric Pal friends I know I'll make it through! My weight loss surgery is a tool--- not a toy But each pound I'm losing, that gives me great joy! Will you join me on my journey towards renewed health? To know I can now have a future- that is really wealth. So I walk bravely forward, content with whatever tomorrow will bring And for me. Frust8 lies ahead my happiness in a Bariatric Spring. Legal food on the run: Convenience foods that work and strategies for restaurants

I would think, grilled chicken breast would be a good choice if you've made it back to "regular" consistency foods, maybe tomatovslice and his good vegetable buddies on the side.๐๐----NO๐&๐ฏ -

If they take out the hormone that makes you crave food....
Frustr8 replied to amyandgreg1234's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Dang @CreekImp I was hoping surgery would kill the evil Ghrelin Monster. So if the colon can still produce the peptide, the best I can hope for is that Ghrelin Monster deveopes enough of a limp that he's slowed down. The proverb is right: No free lunch, no quick fix, no silver bullet!" Life is what life is, BUT I DON T HAVE TO LIKE IT! -
