If there is much salt in your brother that might make you retain fluid. But keep on with your activities and I'm sure it will smooth out.π

Frustr8 replied to Laura7's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Good luck Laura and please know I will be following. As I get closer to mine I'm trying to soak up knowledge like a sponge, and as each person fi b 's success I makes me feel like I can Do THIS also. July 25th would have been my parents 75th wedding anniversary, but you have made it special again. Daddy died in 1993 and Mama in 2003 and you, find you wish you share certain moments with them. I think they would be proud I'm stepping forward with my surgery. I was Mama's joy and Daddys Little Sunshine and now I am a source of Pride in Myself!Even at72 I can still do this and do it Well!πππ -

Has anyone had surgery using Robotic Da Vinci?
Frustr8 replied to newmeinfla's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Pretty sure O.S.U. uses Da Vinci as assitance with bariatric surgeries. But folks, you all know me , CP30 can scrub in as long as my Dr Needleman is there too!π·ππ -

Confessional - Lets post our cheats/confessions/etc so others can see that we are all human
Frustr8 replied to Matt Z's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I have a confession to make and it is not of dietary variety. I am posting on the hopes of making someone in BariatricLand feel less alone. If it is TMI I apologize but here it goes. Among my problems that my future RnY surgery will either abolish or lessen is lymphedema in my lower legs, not a fun condition to have. I am supposed to be taking Lasix which is a strong enough strength I have to supplement with K Clor so that I don't deplete my body's Potassium, levels . Do I like doing it? Not especially. I am currently drinking 84-120 oz of varied fluids daily, one because,i'm in training for surgery and two because I have 3 healthy functioning kidneys so can clear that much.. Plus I don't get so hungry when I'm full of water. So why would I want a medication that only makes me void more? So I confess I haven't been super compliant. Well I did see my surgeon Dr Needleman on Tuesday, anybody who follows me knows that, well in the chit chat he asked if I had any circulatory problems, I am a truthful little elk even if it makes me look dumb, so I told him about the lymphedema and faulty drainage from my legs." Hmmn" he says" one leg more than the other?" Left one I said , pulled off my shoe and sock, then he says " You are taking your Lasix faithfully, aren't you?" Oops I'm caught in the cross-hairs now, I m8ght have temporarily fooled PCP but I'm not going to fool THIS dude. So I said yes and I have been good every since To save on b b 73rd linen and the carpeting I have put myself in adult pull-ups at night. See I am also To be complient with my c pap until my surgery, I sleep more soundly and nature calls and I make my way to the pretty porcelain plumbing I can make it there with less embarrassment. Doesn't it figure, my bedroom is at the front of the house, that other room at the rear so I have to go through living room, dining room and kitchen to get there. And if I should have to dribble in the kitchen that's a fall risk. So pride has had to take a backseat for awhile. I figure as I get thinner i.Will move faster and get there in time again. So folks if you're walking with me in this,it will be better soon and it's okay anyway. Your friend Frustr8 .aka. Princess Tinkle-pantsπ -
And sweetness is our bugaboo. Our mother's milk is sweet , goodness, knows prepared formulas are. And I am cursed even more than average, you see I was born at the end of the Second World War, our parents had lived through Depression. a scant, decade before, when people.scarcely had enough to eat. And now a fat chubby cheeked baby was very desirable. And my poor Mama, bless herβ€, was only following her doctor and the medical community of that times advice. She was nursing me, after every feeding she was to give,me a 8oz bottle of sweet Carnation Milk formula, and she was good little compliant woman. I had the chubby apple cheeks, arms and legs with dimpled folds, and I grew and grew. Hurray, Hurray for Aleta, look what a good job she's doing. This is one baby that won't starve to death, this one's a keeper. At one year of age I was 36 inches tall and weighed 35 lb. Somehow I learned to lurch around well enough to be walking by Thanksgiving, I was a December baby, but I was BIG. According to many,up-to-date charts that's the size a typical 2 and half year old is supposed to be. An old 60-70 song goes "Born To Be Wild" well I was Born to be Fat! Those fat cells were laid down EARLY! Oh I will slimify, but it's like pushing a 150 pound boulder up a steep hill, if I pause for just a second it's going roll back on top of me and crush me. And I will become an Flattened Frustr8 and there is NO market for that! So above poster is correct; IGNORANCE IS FAT and plenty of it,and now I am living proof of what misinformation can do. 5ft8in down from a youthful high of 6 feet, 320+ lbs, no healthy 72 year old is supposed to be that size! And thanks to the miracles of modern medical science and a future RnY bypass, I have a chance not to be that size ANYMORE! And I am going to rock it until my size subsides or I fall over the edge into oblivion. Just watch, baribads. just watch!ππβ€

I agree with Sosewsue61, keep on with your prediet trek but be extra special kind to yourself. I always feel better when I am helping others, help mentor someone who is having her own struggle, help an elderly neighbor, read to kids at story hour at the library, help with vacation bible school you find something that makes you feel good, go fishing, boating or bicycling. But down deep, take a minute and praise yourself for this big healthy step you are taking and know it is the very right thing for YOU! I'll be watching for more on your journey my friend.πΈπβ€π

Question about Fluid Volume
Frustr8 replied to Swanton_Bomb's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hey I found something in the housewares department at Wally World , its. a teensy little measuring cup with the shotglasses, has the gradients marked on it Tablspoons on one side and ounces on the other, okay this is what I find neat, it looks like your glass Pyrex measuring cup, although it is plastic, it has the little pour lip so I think it will be easier to drink from. Since it is plastic, it will be easy to clean and only cost $1,88. So a little FYI for all my bari-buds!β -
Pre-op diet question. Please help!
Frustr8 replied to Kella112's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Maybe I am a lucky BARI-BABE, O.S.U. let's me set the length of my prediet. And I have a choice of 2 weeks,3 weeks or 4 weeks. They mandate at least 2, recommend 4 weeks, their reasoning; with 4 weeks surgery is easier and,his heal better. At this point I am leaning toward 4 weeks and starting it August 1st. My gut feelling(pun or no pun) is. that at my age, and yes although I claim to be as strong as you 20 year old bari-babes and bari-dudes there may be an inherent fraility that maybe I should take into account. Yeah this old chassis and engine can still pull a pretty good load but I'm scarely show-room fresh and I don't know how firmly my trailer hitch is welded on, what if something popped? Basically it is 4 high protein shakes, 2 fruit snacks must be apple, orange or banana, one meal 300 calorie meal like Smart Choice,Lean Cuisine, Atkins or homemade if comparable, no starchy vegetables, no peas no corn and of course no potatoes, no breads rice or similar (so no quinoa?) and all the water, unsweeted drinks, no caffeine, my little β€, my kidneys, and tummy can stand. So I'd like some bai-advice myself! Sorry Kella I know you were OP but I'm being a tad pushy goes with my red hair. Do you veterans of the Prediet Purgatory think I am wise doing the 4 weeks or will I founder before the end of August and first of September? My stubborn will keeps chanting 4,4,4, but I haven't interviewed my mentality or,emorions, after untold it to shut up, we don't need sweets and although Tomkitten has a bag. of Lays potato chips, they are his and my little hand can't sneak in there. So my emotions are sulking, and may not be speaking to me! So I warned Tomkitten I will be hangry, nasty and maybe no fun to be around. And he maybe should get out his football helmet and my shin-guards from when I played catcher because I could be throwing and kicking at things before this is over. But this is an important undertaking and one I elected to do. As the late Bette Davis said "Hold on, this is going to be a BUMPY RIDE!"πππ -
First step in the process
Frustr8 replied to nrbradley0's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
And in my mind, as you go through your consults with those specialists and your classes you are going to learn so much you may wonder, how you are going to remember everything but you will, and a lot of it is very important things you will remember forever. Long twisty road ahead of you but it is worth the journey, for at the end you will have an,operation that will. change life forever in a good way. Welcome and hang with ys, it will worth. the struggles to get there -
