    I’m scared

For me it pretty much was a realization. I fear surgery with all its ramifications far less than continuing to just exist, one step away from bedfast, obese, in pain that only increased day by day, watching my friends die, even the ones I thought looked healthy, hardly able to breath under much stress, unable to move fast enough to elude a burglar, robber or rapist, seeing the Death Angel lurking not too far in the distance. Being told your good life is over, might as well die. Oh I was so bull-headed, thought I could beat weight on my own. it had to be a loud wake-up call to reach me. I had been taught if something's not broke, don't try to fix it! Well I was pretty well broke, ready to grasp at a straw, and Bariatrics was that straw. Oh people told me I was old, foolish and silly for trying but I didn't want to sit in a rocker and die. And it has been a struggle, but I found strength within to endure, and it has been ROUGH but on September 5th 2018 at 7 AM EDT I will receive the surgery I started seeking 3 years ago this month. And as soon as I can lose enough to jump up and down I am going to be my BIGGEST CHEERLEADER, I will be the Litttle Engine That Could and I'll be pulled into the Grand Central Station of Health. If I can one more year of Health, good, if I survive longer, wonderful, but I will have loved myself enough to have given this 🎁 present of a greater life! So watch me if you like, join me if you can, GOOD TIMES ARE AHEAD.

  7. Didn't the Bible speak of being with out honor save in his own country? I'm reminding if a gospel hymn, on my mind this morning If when you give the best of your service Telling the world that the Saviour has come Be not dismayed When men do not believe you He'll understand and say Well Done! Powerful powerful words in a Day and World like Today. Isn't it great He is the same, yesterday, today and tomorrow for His Mercies Never Fail!

    No period since surgery (May)

Our bodi3s are wonderful, weird at times but still wonderful. I think our bodies may be struggling too, trying to make sense out of all that has happened. Surgery changed you emotionally, your balance, don't you think your body is trying to adjust what physically has happened,to it? When you had surgery, you punched it hard, it wasn't expecting that and it's still staggering, trying to shake off the blows like a boxer who's fought out of his class! Your body is saying "Whaaa Happened?" Chill down, things will level off, if they don't, check with your gynecologist, if you've gone into menopause, no big deal , it's not a bad place to be, maybe this way,if smooth and effortless. In ancient days you would be considered a wise woman, a treasure , someone who's been there , seen a lot, did most things and now lives vibrantly for the future. Older chicks Rock, I'm one and I'm really a force to be contended with!👵👍

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

That's why I brought this thread out of retirement, we haven't retired from life after all. I'm an odd-ball, at an age some want to sit down and rock, I want to have my surgery and go on living. In 2 weeks I will have my RuN bypass and on December 26 I will become 73, never been 73 before but I believe I can do it and do it well. So any,of you over50s want to pray for me , send me good wishes, do a belly dance in my honor, all would be great. In the meantime I'm here to be a friend to all. Live life, live it abundantly, and with no apology. After 50 we have little to repent of anyway!!

    Smoking

Farfi wanted to say Hi to you. I'm on Wellbutrin(buptopion) not a smoker, never was. I take it for depression and it is an easy and good drug . Also I have lung cancer deaths in my family and a cousin died of esophageal cancer wh9 was a heavy smoker and drinker. Neither cancer was nice to die from, Please try to quit, for those who love you but for yourself most of all. I'll be your friend either way but I'll be especially proud if you can do it.

    Got my date!

Go into your surgery optimistic about everything. Just remember every person is different, from what I read on here many can do,it almost instantly, some still some meds . Back in the old days people thought Diabetes was a single disease it isn't and every day new facets uncover. I am not diabetic, one of the reasons I'm going forth with surgery. Many family members are, but none of them have same dodages, and it effects them in different ways . Some are brittle, some it hardly affects at all. A couple type 2 control with diet alone. Trust your endocrinologist, trust your primary care, trust your surgeon, those 3 know you best, Sorry we can't give certainties but I believe your surgery, willl benefit you that way.

    lymphedema

I am a lymphedema sufferer. Lets be real quiet right now they are less swollen. At any rate I will have Rny surgery and I will update. if it progressively gets better. I have a theory on what's causing mine. and we will See if I am right. I think my belly fat weight blocks the lymph cannels from draining right. But we shall see, shall we?
  18. @ Summer Essence a littleburdie told me you might be a bypass instead of a sleeve. If so, MissPoidle and I will be tickled to have you join us among the "pouched"

    Dealing with grief post op

I also am sorry for this loss. My consul may be a little different, maybe farther down the line but here it goes I k,ow your big brother loved you ,was proud of you, he would not you turning to food for solace. My middle child, my oldest son, died suddenly January 2008, his father less than 4 and a half years later. So I have walked this path. Did your brother have any special interests? Do them in his and to honor his memory. My Kevin loved to read , I donated books to our lbrary in his honor. One of my friends sons was a marathon runner. Now neither she or I are spring chickens, but as a way of honoring Scottie, she started and walking, and did a quarter-marathon in his memory, she walked instead of running , at 71 she did it. And we, her friends, pledged a little money for each mile she did, that money goes to the foundation for the condition that killed him, that another mother will not have to cry, that another son or daughter will live, Scottie would have liked that, and we are proud of Kathy for doing it.. Maybe when you feel strong enough volunteer at the Heart Association. Your brother deserves to be honored that way,if you want to do it. Make sure your own heart is healthy, some weakness can be herditary, make sure you get yourself checked out, as well as any kids and other family members. True Story- do you remember John Ritter the actoe, he died suddenly of an aortic dissection(same thing my son died of). well John had a brother Tom. Didn't hear too much about Tom, he has cerebral palsy and kind of stayed in the background. They tested Tom, he also had the condition, was operated , they put stents in to correct the condition and now Tom will continue to have a life. No nothing will bring John back but his death saved Tom. Their daddy Tec Ritter was a Cowboy actor/singer much like Roy Rogers and Gene Autry back in the 40s and 50s, when Tec died Heart Attack was put on his death certificate but now they believe he had this condition also. And Johns own children were tested too. But text me anytimebyouvwant to talk, inK?

  25. Hey All you Future Thin Chicks- have I got an update for you! Had to go to my orthopaedic surgeon on Monday, yeah not the body is fat, the framework is also a little sprung. While I was there since they have a fancy-fancy scale, I asked to be weighed. Down from 321 to 309 in less than 3 weeks! I guess I have to give credit to the Verdompt liver-shrinking diet, I mighy, just might it down to 300 on surgery day! Pray for me I don't hear any seductive songs as I hurry by the snack aisles on my way to healthy foods. Frustr8 the not-so chub deb
