Month before surgery - what changes did you make?
Frustr8 replied to GettinSkinnywithit's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Got rid,of crackers, chips, soda pop, gave,up (sniff) coffee, wasn't easy, since I am allergic to cocoa, only warm drink I had routinely. Did. load in decade and green head but rather lost my taste for them. Occasionally have some herbal. Only sweet treat baking I did was for Tomkitten made o,ly chocolate items. Tried out some protein shakes to see which ones I might like. Had and still have landlord snipping at my heels, he knew my surgery date and scheduled housing matters to cause me stress. But THAT is a divergent topic. -
GALS who started their journey over 300 lb+
+

Indeed I have, well it IS a,new week today, and I'm trying for a Super Sunday, woke up nauseous. again, maybe if,they did an autopsy my entire spine is a stack of Zofran. Wish I could go back to my Dexilent, for me omeprazole major let down, but Dexilent only made in extended release. If things stay settled down I will make a shake, and sip on it. Hungry, nope don't think so but need something with protein , beef bone broth, isn't calling my name. At least not this morning, Tomkitten says I have taken over more than 1/2 the fridge with my various things. Could,be,he's right. My skim, his 2%milk. My juices, V8, And Minute Maid 15, use it to cut down strength of Premier Protein clear, sugar free Jellos, cream of chicken in Rubbermaid container, don't much care for🐥. I don't want to tax Precious too heavy, but better add up if I'm even hitting 500, and did I make my liquids and fluids? Oh to be back to Q.S. on solids and liquids. But perhaps between Dr Needleman on Tuesday, his partner Dr Noria doing my EGD on Friday, things will smooth out! Then I will just have to figure how to relocate by November 1st when my Social Security doesn't come until the Third. Either I fail to pay my utilities to save money, or I get evicted and have nowhere to stay. Can't afford a deposit and rental , most rentals here start at $500-600 for nice places, that's half to 2/3 What my monthly SS is. Can I get into subsidized? Going to try, but will they accept 1 senior citizen,1 adult under 65, both non-smoker and 2 kitties. We are a Family unit, don't want to live without them. The 3 make my life better. -
zthat to me is not a NSV,but a LD, a life detriment, the price we pay for being Female!😯

They write the diets at 3 years old? For shame, put your Big Girl/Mommy pants on, and abort the mini-revolution. You set their diets not the other way around. #1 I do hope you are cutting their hot dogs up, as a grand/great grand I must preach now, do you know what hot dogs are named in E R's? Choke Steak, because they can shut off toddler airways. You are going to start adding salads to diet, crunchy carrotts, celery, some of the things when steamed or cooked gently don't even need sauces etc. Took a while for me to convince me I didn't need a cheese sauce on everything, veggies and fruits taste good, don't leave a sticky aftertaste in your mouth and it does your teeth good to chew a little. Its the wrong season now but consider a mini garden next year. My kiddos loved eating the lettuce and tomatoes they grew themselves. Doesn't have to take up a lot of space, can do it with planters and pits and window boxes. And if they see Mommy eat in this stuff, they will want to mimic you. They are still in the Mommy is Wonderful stage, try to convert a teenager that thinks the last Intelligent action you did was give, birth to them. Now that is a TASK! All of us Motherhood vets will be cheering you on! -
Isn't it curious that I was told when Obamacare had to pick up maternity care and benefits, Bariatrics was "grandfathered in". Now you tell me I am in error? Dang for $3000 you ought to receive all kinds of lovely benefits. For that amount you should have a licensed face- dauber to wipe your fevered brow. Dang, 1st time I ever remember Medicare being better, than other insurances. They covered me at 3 months short of 73, without a burp or belch. I always have Medicaid as a back-up, if things don't meet Medicare's hopes. And although I regret not doing this sooner, it's still going to be all good., in the Big Picture.

And what I had on September 5th. If you decide to join us, we would love to have you come to Bypass Junction!🍀🐎🍀 -
At least, you do feel better, I just upchuck and keep on. I am giving up until my EGD next Friday, I feel I may have a stricture, lets liquids through but nothing thicker. And I am 31 days out from my September 5th bypass surgery. I just hope I can get relief and move up to Stage 3 and then on back to normalcy.😪🙊🙉🙈🐵

My First Post- A lot of reading to do :)
Frustr8 replied to Jazzy1125's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Also Jazzy I recommend the liquid calcium citrate, it's brand name is Wellesse, tasted just like orange pushup sherbet you have as a little kid, well into my second bottle, it does cost about $10 but I think worth it. I also like the B12 melts I got from Bariatric Pal store, super reasonable price, delivery is very quick. I choose black cherry but they also come in mint. -

Not bad , I have Barimelts from Bariatric Pal Store. Except for being a little grainy as they dissolve they are fine. I like that it's 1 prenatal versus most everybody else that are 2. And I got Spring Valley, one of Wal-Mart's house brands so very reasonable price. I got the blend with folate. Maybe $6-7 I forget now, but certainly below $10. -
And there are mini, sips, omega loops which is same thing as Sips? So RnY is the famous brother but he does have relatives including D S.

Jazzy my program put me on prenatal vitamins , oh I got a few strange looks when I picked a bottle of the shelf and after a brief side trip to chewables, which. I had to grind because I have dentures, I am back with my prenatals, they are small and easy for me to swallow. And they are not expensive and my bloods are fine on vitamin levels. -
Trouble transitioning from liquids to puréed food
Frustr8 replied to bettie.blue's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
OMG that's also where I feel the pain just before Precious Pouch starts to hurl everything back up. That said I would thin your Greek yogurt down with skim milk, and work your way up to full strength. Your new digestive system is still pretty tender, take it slow and gentle, you will have a lot time to eat the thicker and regular foods. Your tummy is learning its way also. -
Not doing great in pre-op diet

And REMEMBER, in the Grand Scheme of things you had better do a better job post-surgery or you will be an unhappy puppy! -
My late husband kept mixing up Moot and Mute. After hearing this for the eleventeeth time, I snapped. I said if " it were really mute, you would have shut about it before now!"
-
Hey I must be drinking the wrong brands, mine bind me up tighter the a Bass Drum! About ready to give myself a wake- up dose of MoM, no results since late Wednesday, when I do, they aren't hard💩just not a whole lot because I haven't progressed past liquids. Another, thing to discuss with my Bariatric Team, isn't it?
-
And if it is. cut from the same bolt of cloth" as the others, you may need it half-and- half because it is strongly sweet. I have a 16 oz cup, 2/3 c Premier Protein fruity flavor, 2/3 c Minute Milk 15 fruit punch and if any room left, add cold bottled water. And that way I don't gag on the sweetness of it all.🍶 And Protein 2 0 is $6,95 for a 4 pack at my Wally World, so same price pretty much as Protein shakes.

A hug for you April in advance! Big changes but good changes ahead! 😜Smiles and a happy Day!

GALS who started their journey over 300 lb+
+
Frustr8 replied to Frustr8's topic in The Gals' Room
Well I finally broke the 300 pond barrier, 298,6 on Wednesday the 3rd. I am doing horrid with my diet, still on liquids, see Dr Needleman my surgeon on Tuesday October 9th, scheduled for a Exploratory EGD on Friday October 12th, I am believing I have a stricture, liquids do pretty okay, puree s and beyond come back up with strength. Keep reading about Bariatric Pal X or Y who had their surgery after me and are much closer to normal diets than me! Effort does not seem to count much these days. Lined up my 4 cups of 2 oz, been doing that all AM , has it worked? Well I have been to the bathroom, and taken my liquid calcium, my AM pills and I'm not one bit hungry. Should be, by now I should be on 3 mini-meals and a couple small snacks. My pouch cannot and will not read. Pre ious Pouch rules this roost! -
Not right actions on their part, punishing the innocent in the equation.😦
-
Well it is Saturday, see if anything generates on its own or if I need MoM? God I do hope for the days we do Precious Pouch's difficulties. to a finish. One lady said after they redialed her stoma things were rosy. MAY IT BE SO FOR ME!
-

Summer 2018 Surgery Buddies: POST-OP Discussion
Frustr8 replied to Ylime's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You know, iattcom , truth be known there are as many of Our slow, steady, we have the rest of life to make it to solids, let's not tax our systems as those" Nothing Fazes Me" I am 21 days ahead of you, my pouch doesn't want to progress, having EGD on October 12th, to either confirm or rule out Stricture, until then liquids are my only friend. Good news I have lost 22 pounds since surgery, Bad news, the Good Times have not started Rolling for ME.😟 -
2 doses Wellesse liquid calcium, contains calcium citrate, D3 and Magnesium. 1 B12, sublingual, black cherry, got from Bariatric Pal store. Didn't ask but on 3x daily Zofran, 3x daily Wellbutrin 100 once daily Ditropan, Zyrtec. Singular, omeprazole, I find it useless as ppi, but n.p. says for non- ulceration, bet I tell them I want my Dexilent back! Still have liquid Tylenol in plastic shoebox, don't take as long as pain free. And I am still supposed to be on additional Mg for leg cramping, either it is working , 500 mg morniing, 500 he or I am less prone to cramping as my weight creeps down. Having more problems with limited diet and being emesis prone. Next Friday October 12, an EGD to see if I do have a stricture, bet I do from my symptoms, Told them I DO NOT HAVE good luck with oneprazoke, that's why gastroenterologist had me on Dexilent. But it's their party, only my body suffers. Time for another 2 oz of Propel. Going to be meticulous for these 3 days until I see Dr Needleman, my surgeon. And trying not to urp my way into a 50 mile saga to Columbus, that's a long way when you are miserable.
