Why is there always so much food?

Hey a little FYI for you, not that you asked. If you are in the jungle and find yourself surrounded by cannibalizing headhunters, pray real quick somebody understands English. Remind them you are American, you see WE are not fit for human comsumption, too many pesticides et all. We make them very very sick. They vastly prefer Australians and New Zealanders, a little muttony, once you get past that, quite tasty. How do I know this? I have among my friends a retired cannibal. His US name is David, said in his native language his own name has a similar meaning. Found Jesus through missionaries, at least the uneaten ones, came to US to Bible College. Human flesh is known as "Long Pork" since we are are omnivorous like pigs ,a similar taste. WE ARE THE OTHER" White Meat" after all. Grandfather said during WW#2 that they ate a lot of Japanese, didn't care much for the fishy taste, but you do what you can to stay alive! So I asked, cause my ornery mind wanted to know " David do you ever miss the taste?" He laughed and said I either go to Tony Roma or Applebees and get a rack of baby back ribs, close enough match for me in the US!" I know maybe more knowledge than you needed!lLOL๐Ÿ˜›

    I'm so COLD!

Like 4 ice -sicles attached to my body. Hey a Funny FYI for you. Some of my cousins decided they. were tired of Ohio winters so moved to Tennesseen from up here. Should have headed to Memphis or somewhere else near Mississippi, the area they chose was as cold as here, they knew no one there and it was on the side of a mountain close to the area that burned. So they moved back to Ohio tobenear their daughter and the grandbabies. Kind of an expensive vacation I would think!

Getting some new ideas for my Jaded palate. You try 5 weeks before surgery, 13 weeks after surgery and your body still requires protein in abundance, it's Straw- Grasping Time.

    Tri-cities, Washington?

And if all else fails, seems like there is enough interest to organize your own. Find a neutral location, a speaker or 2 and you're on Your Way!
  6. Often thought insurance companies that didn't fall on their heads on concrete and addled their brains have their heads buried in the sand. Remember, they went into this to make ๐Ÿ’ฐ๐Ÿ“ˆ not provide a helpful service and certainly not pay out anymore than necessary. I used think it terrible people wanted to blow places up, oh but now I understand some of their reasoning! BOOM!๐ŸŽ‹๐ŸŽ‰๐ŸŽŠ
  7. And lest you think you'll always be free of those injections, Tain't necessarily so, now during this hospital stay, with its attendant bed rest, Guess who returned. I was lying here half-awake thinking why do I feel like I just had surgery, my tummy is tender? Then I shook my head and remembered why, just a part of this Dance Party I'm on.๐Ÿ˜›๐Ÿ˜•๐Ÿ˜›

    Pregnancy and VSG

And with healthy meals, my bariatric vitamins and a Good Doctor to guide me, I actually lost weight my last 2 pregnancies and had a 9 pound bouncing baby boy both times. It can be done, do what is best for you and that previous new life you carry. Your baby has a lot of God-Aunts and God-Uncles out here cheering You and Baby on!

    DC Support groups?

And if that fails you the Maryland suburbs have them a- plenty. Was a lady poster who bragged of hers in either Montgomery or the next county up. Not sure if she is still monitoring but if so, she'll probably state where.

    Over 60??

Yes truly it does, every day I do move easier. Oh just like someone who was badly scalded and burned you will always have some scarring. As an example prior to surgery I was very prone to leg cramping , so much that my PCP had me on additional Magnesium and Flexeril and at that time if all else failed aspirin 4 at a time. Now since a better vitamin level and a reduction in weight I have not had one episode of them. And they were Evil, once they were so bad , since my legs were so cramped I slithered across my floor like a fishworm because my legs wouldn't hold me, skinned the tops of every toe. Had a way I could make it to certain piece of furniture and using arms only drag my body up on it. Looking back, don't know how I could do it, at that time well over 300 pounds. Now I am 260 and dropping pretty fast, and I will never regain as long as I can draw breath, and speaking of that, don't get so out of breath and I bet 5ai have a fair chance of deleting my c pap pretty soon. In the ways that count my 73rd is going to be a nicer and I hope healthier day. And I can say that from my Hospital bed, I have now a PICC line in my arm, my ulcers needed more protein to heal than my limited diet could grant and what I was getting not, utilizing. Less than 5% have it this rocky, but it can and will be repairable. My surgeons believe it and I also am convinced. I am turning the corner so well I may be going home tomorrow, off chance it could even be today! Instead of feeling regrets I am thankful they have the knowledge to repair ME. And Darlin' I am going to be Fine, I'll look back to this as a minor blip on my Recovery Road!๐Ÿ˜ท๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿ‘ผ๐Ÿ˜›

ipixie, you're being a bad influence, now my K level( potassium) has also gone low, waiting on an IV bag to come up from Lab so it can be " piggy-backed" in. Had a miserable time since last posting. Been telling everyone up to the window blind repairman I needed to ๐Ÿ’ฉ. Hadn't since November 24th. Finally I had ENOUGH, They were giving me. stool softeners, miralax, all well and good, but I needed a propellant. Finally today I was getting testy, I asked yesterday about an enema only to be t9ld"ooh,we don't do that here!" WTF, you don't do that in a surgical ward in a teaching hospital? Now come on, not in a hospital? By this morning I am growing testy! Fine, transfer me to a medical ward, send me down to ER , let me have a soapsuds. or a high colonic! 8 am growing Miserable. Surgical resident presses on upper belly , says That's Soft, of course that's because everything is in my lower. colon piling up. Finally I got a fleet this AM with instuctions to hold as long as possible. I did not hit the 30 minute target, only 10+, then ensued a nearly hour of misery. FINALLY,i made it back to bed , I swear 5 pounds lighter, okay maybe 2-3, but my humor is a little BETTER. Not sure I am completely cleaned-out but a lot better now. Saw two residents this AM , my surgeon was supposed to be in today, maybe in street or casual clothes, but still a sight for sore eyes๐Ÿ‘€, I really do like the man. And then tomorrow Dr Noria will be back, maybe my Dr Steven who is nearly ready,l to go out into private practice. I see at least 1 of my doctors every day, and my mini- bag of potassium has arrived, shouldn't be long until the pump starts beeping again.๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ‘ผ๐Ÿ˜I keep telling myself I am getting better every day and I guess I am.

    November 2018 Sleevers!?!?

Yes and no, your body may be starting to go into fat-burning mode. KETOSIS STINKS, IN THEORY AND IN PRACTICE! My own , not so much bad breath as my armpits, B.O. my armpits smell like rotting onions, keep cleaning, baking soda, ani-persp/deodorants, even wiping down with 90% rubbing alcohol, in case it was bacterium. Family says they smell NOTHING but Baby I Do!๐Ÿ‘ฟ๐Ÿ˜•๐Ÿ‘ฟ

    Dreams

I am hopeful, yes I am. Still hospitalized, have been since Wednesday November 28, my first guess was dismissal tomorrow, now maybe 35% ? I now have a PICC line in my upper left arm, inner side toward my body. And I have a bag of TPN RUNNING IN continuingly, tonight if all is well they will start cycling it to prepare me for exit. But I WILL go home with the PICC line still in. I need to be on a higher protein count than my current diet will provide to heal my rampant crop of ulcers. Every endoscopy they are discovering more, I have followed every instruction, taken every med, tried to ingest as much as my tempermental gastric pouch, Precious Pouch, will permit. Last I attemped to eat something she in the past had accepted, over 40 minutes to swallow, less than 10 minutes to empty back up. And that had been happening pretty frequently. So here. I BE! PICC SITE- not excessively painful, feels like it was attached with a staple gun, but am learning how to pivot with it, got to take a walk with Physical Therapy pushing my pole, pretty fine to do. Alerted my nurse I was on the verge of an breakdown in my backside, near and into a**. crack, had one before, k,ow how it feels, have a shock- absorb dressing. And Oh I Does Help! Otherwise turning the corner on a slow pivot toward renewed health!

    Extreme Intestinal Cramping

if you try to walk, does it improve or worsen? If it gets better, maybe excessive gas? If worse, do bring your Bariatric Team into the loop, yeah a lot of us have had similar due to multiple things, but they are Your Best Resource, on Bariatric Pal we only practice lay medicine and Hope. Very few have licenses and degrees, but we all support each other on the Journey!

And IT WILL COME! Let all of us know so we can celebrate with YOU. When I dabbled in a little ancestor search and genealogy a while back, found out my mother's people came from York, even know what parish, my father's from Lancaster, not all that far apart. Since back in the back of beyond, the UK transported felons to the Americas, then as they traveled toward their own independence from " Mum England" then they transported to Australia etc. Not sure if New Zealand had transporters also or the the emigrees WANTED to go, but just consider how many distant cousins I have world๐ŸŒwide! Does rather boggle the mind!

    Tell Me Your Pre-op Timeline

Lets see , what did I have to do? Cardiology Pnuemology Sleep study, Documentation of past weight loss attempts from PCP Since PCP was also alumnus of this facility, letter of pe4sonal recommendation Documentation of his support Psychiatrist(maybe to make sure I wasn't crazy asking for surgery over 70?) Staff psychologist reaffirmation of mental/emotional fitness. Loved the depth of questioning tempered by concern for me as a person. A consult with Valerie, his chief Nurse-Practioner, still checking my motivations? Dietitian/ Nutrition Exercise Physiologist My list much longer than most, partly from 2 differing programs, partly to make certain my motivations were sincere and not flippant or shallow. Not many programs have Early 70s applicants, far from average gal or guy off the street. And some of the post-surgery facets have been more difficult, less easy mobility, healing at a slower rate, more dings in the old chassis, but like people 1/3 and 1/2 my age, no regret, no questions as things happened, this was the surgery for ME, a wonderful thing in my life, I found and had the best surgeon possible, if it takes 18 months instead 9f 12 to reach a goal weight Dr Needleman and I are comfortable with , NBD, no big deal, it can happen, it will happen and if I get the chance to mentor a few. " newbies" along the way, calm their fears, reassure them all is not lost if they falter along the way in their weight loss journey. Yippee Skippee for ME!๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ“†๐ŸˆA Future is A Wonderful๐ŸŽ Gift To Receive!
