January surgeries?!
Frustr8 replied to jessicaalyssa's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
From my lofty yet slippery perch, after 20+ weeks of liquids I'm going to the clear protein waters, even if I have to dilute them half-and-half, I shall mentally call them. Good-for-You Koolaid. Check Vitamin Shoppe, GNC,Bariatric Pal Store, Sam's Club, Costco. As last resort, Amazon- they are too wealthy for their own good, why enrich them any further?🍶☕🍵 -

And if you are left handed, face someone and mirror what they are doing. Works for crochet and knitting both. -

And just like I learned for myself, No protein shake is worth choking when you taste it or vomiting. There are other ways of getting protein in. -
And Face to Face Monday is usually followed by Think I Can Do This Tuesday, Wonder Wednesday, That can't be a Stall Thursday, Fantastic Friday and Wonderful Weekend. Sip, Rinse, Repeat.

GALS who started their journey over 300 lb+<br /> +

Well welcome welcome Lauryn, I am the OP the original poster for this thread, so it is rather my baby after all. You're doing liquid for 3 weeks? Got you beat, I did mine the entire month of August, because I wanted my liver to shrink down as much as possible, and it did. Dr Needleman , my surgeon, said it was lovely, smooth and healthy. So yes it is well worth the trouble, for every week you do your diet, your liver shrinks 2.4%. And yes it can be frustrating. My surgery weight was 319, at 4 months out I am 260-ish, probably today 263 or 4, because I haven't done #2 yet. I had an RnY, and I am one of the complications, I am strictured, and I have healing ulcerations in my small intestine. I have a PICC line, that stands for a catheter inserted in my upper left arm, 12 hours a day I am fed nutrition that way so my GI system can rest and heal. Don't be concerned, in all the people on Bariatric Pal I am the only one, makes me special. Had it since November 29th 2018, got pretty used to it by now, don't know an ending date, but I am in this to win this, so no tears, no frustration, no bemoaning my fate, it is what it is. I will heal, I have two great bariatric surgeons on my team, they say I will end up fine, I believe them And in them. Whether you are a sleeve or bypass, your surgery will be fine. -

Getting back on track
Frustr8 replied to johnsons13's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Some more words of encouragement for you You are strong when you know your weaknesses You are beautiful when you appreciate your flaws You are wise when you learnt from your mistakes. Don't listen to the defeatist voice in your head; it wants you staying fat, and I don't believe YOU really do, now when you have traveled so far already. Believe in yourself and believe you still can do better! -
Wow you people have been lucky but you will heal quicker and better if you remove the tobacco from your life. Smoking can also provoke ulcers, I don't smoke but I have non-healing ulcers, now my surgeon ordered me not to be present when someone else smokes, so even second-hand smoke is bad.

Yes it doesn't make sense, but your body can't read, how does it know what might be expected of it. Just celebrate the loss and have a lovely day!

6 weeks, out, probably ready for some soft foods with your purees.

Thanks everyone for the prayers

Maybe you can get back,to healing now, glad you are better. -
Sure hope it doesn't cause you to aspirate your food into your lungs. & That brings your problems to a new level. Better to find out it's nothing to worry about than risking your long-term health.

Did it go well for you?
-
Everything is going be fine and dandy. Good Luck!

The older you get, the more quiet you become. Life humbles you so deeply as you age. You realize how much time you have wasted on regrets.

I'm 60. Anyone else over 50 doing RNY?

And how are you doing now? -
Frustrated by lack of information/resources from dr

And I also had that kind of bruising, started on left and traveled clear across to right. My doctor's theory. They knicked a small surface vein while doing my surgery, when I got enough Lovenex in my system, It started drip, drop dripping, blood had nowhere to go except between skin and fat layer, looked like I was pregnant with an aliens baby 👶, finally faded but it seemed like forever, turned yellow and green in the process. -

Well you will have a Valentine's Day to remember forever, won't you? -
And I will look forward to reading more of your story as time goes by. Welcome.😝

Thank you, I needed that, sometimes I wonder if it was a selfish self-centered whim, and then I do see parts of me regaining prominence as they used to be. I started out at 365 High weight, now I am in the mid-200s, and that is very good for me, but I can't stop myself from comparing, and when I start reading where someone else quotes a weight similar to mine too and says how ugly they felt, and I start to doubt myself when I really thought it was a good looking stage. Maybe I am ugly also? I went to lose to the point I look as beautiful on the outside as I know I am inwardly. When the skin covering matches, I will know I have lost ENOUGH. Real goal is 175, but truly I would be satisfied with anything 199 or less.
