    Hi, welcome!
I’m at Week 4. I can relate to not feeling hungry. Now that I am eating food I feel full especially in the morning. At the time couldn’t wait to be off liquids, but it was easier😉
Now that I am adding more foods that I like it is getting better. Trying to get all my Protein from food but it takes a lot of planning.
Getting a variety is hard since I can only eat a little bit. Trying to buy food that my husband will eat before it goes bad. I also would love to have some veggies or fruit but my protein fills me up.
Trying to get into a routine.

Figured it's time to post some damned photos. Yesterday was my one year surgiversary. Before photo is morning of surgery. I was down to 318 at the time of surgery. When I started my journey I was 354 and 336 at the start of the 2 week pre-op diet. Currently coming in at 232. Ways to go yet and things have slowed down a lot in the past few months, but I'm okay with that. My main reason for having WLS was due to chronic sciatica that was destroying my life and thankfully I feel like I have it back again. I'm not the poster child for WLS but still happy with where I've gotten to in the past year.

Btw...my after shirt is really too big on me and hate that it makes me look like I still have a huge gut. I'm not brave enough to post the shirtless photos...lol

Today is my first surgerversary! I've been in a 3 month stall. With RNY, I accomplished my loss without any strenuous exercise (due to a heart condition). I'm 25lbs away from goal weight and I feel great!

For those awaiting surgery, my thoughts /tips.
make an email group to update friends and family and let your spouse or friend update everyone.
don’t have visitors the first day...except main caregiver. First day was really tough, but each day is better
let others help your spouse after surgery to give them a break❤️
get off narcotics asap and just do Tylenol (I was off first day)
if nauseas, ask for more / different med.
    peppermint doTerra for nausea
pains in chest, shoulders , back is from gas...walk, use breathing spirometer, I use doTerra essential oils ...pastTense , deep blue,
have your liquids ready for when you go home and a schedule
having my Water bottles ready each day helps measure my liquids.
I put all my Vitamins out and take on even half hours throughout day.
I did Fiber and merilax pre and post surgery
Feeling pretty good at 5 Days post op😊
    just a little sleepy.
Getting my Protein, liquids, vitamins in👍🏼
    Good luck all awaiting surgery🙏☘️

I feel the exact same way about my friends and families questions. I have a mother who is always asking me "my number". And sometimes, like the one week that I have my lady friend... the number doesn't change much. Its frustrating and feels discouraging. On the other hand, I like that I have people who feel interested in my journey. It feels good to know that people care about what's going on.
I can relate to you 100% . I'm almost 75lbs down and I haven't gotten many big reactions. I don't know if it's just a topic that most people don't bridge or if it's because, like you, I started off on the high end of the BMI scale. I feel like I look different, but I'm not getting any validation. I choose not to tell anyone at work about my surgery. They know I've been eating right and exercising for the past 6 months, and I'm 2 1/2 months post op now. But no one at work says anything at all.
I weigh myself every time I go to the gym, which is 5 days a week. There are draw backs because I get in my head about my weight when I am on my period and am not loosing. I've even seen the scale go up during that pesky week. But I find that weighing myself, nearly daily, keeps me accountable. If you were only weighing once a week, then you are throwing away a WHOLE WEEK. That's how I feel about it.

Francess reacted to Jrob66 in Supportive friends a blessing and a curse?
I am still pre op, but I have set ground rules for my loved ones. I told them not to ask how much I lost, If I want to tell them I will. I asked them to be patient with me on this journey and know it is an 18 month process and what I learn during those months will prepare me for going forward with my behaviors and how my journey continues.
If that fails... ask them how much they weigh and what they ate today.

Francess reacted to Teachamy in Supportive friends a blessing and a curse?
I weighed in about once every 3 weeks when I was losing. Otherwise I agree, hyper focus on the scale is counter productive. Focus on how you feel, how your clothes fit, as you go down sizes, etc. The scale is just one measurement tool, and it often fluctuates during the day and from day to day. 3 weeks was good for me because I inevitably saw a loss of more than a pound.

Francess reacted to Orchids&Dragons in Supportive friends a blessing and a curse?
Definitely! And then they compare your results to other people they've known, too. I know they're trying to be supportive, but it gets old. My surgery was 5 weeks ago and I haven't lost 50 pounds yet?
Just hang in there, in a year, you'll be the benchmark they compare others to!

Francess reacted to Apple203 in Supportive friends a blessing and a curse?
Oh hell yes! As if my own impatience isn't enough, I have to deal with theirs!! Hang in there, don't overspend on clothes for their behalf, because you are going to go through many sizes. :-)

I have a lot of supportive friends and family and I am truly blessed to have them, but...
sometimes their questions about how I am doing make me feel like I will never progress fast enough for them. Getting lots of questions about how much have I lost, am I ready to buy a whole new wardrobe, what am I eating...etc. Sometimes I just want to get back to my routine and not have the focus on me.
I really think some of them expected me to be thin right after the surgery....it’s been 3 weeks! My Dr. Office and husband assure me I’m doing great, but when you start off at almost 400 pounds, 50 pounds down (since beginning journey) just doesn’t make a dent. I’ve got a long way to go.
    Anyone else feeling this way?
Also, do you weigh yourself everyday? I haven’t been because I’m afraid to get hyper focused on progress or lack of progress.

Maybe this is because during our class our nutritionalist would tell us the weight and then took a piece of chicken (fake) and show up how much that would be in cups. So they were showing both.

Just started blended week. I didn’t have many ingredients (will go to store later today) so I stopped and got chili from Wendy’s and blended it. The nutritionist recommended it. It was good but a half a cup probably only had 8g Protein so I am going to try adding Protein Powder, Beans, or chicken to next batch.
This may be harder than liquids!

I discovered this new Pasta substitute at Walmart the other day and finally got around to trying it tonight. It's delicious!

There are three other flavors, too -- zucchini/lentil penne in olive oil or a cheddar cheese sauce, and spinach/lentil rotini in alfredo sauce. This is the only one I've tried.
It's 8g Protein for a 1.25 cup serving, so 1.6g for 1/4 cup. I mixed mine with 1/4 cup of seasoned chicken breast for a total 1/2 cup meal with 10.6g protein.
More info on the company's website.

I started eating meats in my "soft foods" stage, which was week 4 or 5 (week 5 if you are sleeve). Now, I will say that I only ate VERY tender meat with some type of sauce or gravy. I ate rotisserie chicken and lean ground beef. I eat cheese a lot now. Some people might think that cheese has too much fat, but my NUT believes in a healthy regimen of fat in your diet. I take the Keto approach when eating mostly.
