  1. I used premier shakes for the pre-op liquid diet. I am 6 days post op and unable to drink them. They are too thick and cause cramping. This morning I tried a sample of Unjury (chocolate) with almond milk and I can swallow it with no pain. I think maybe because it’s formulated for bariatric diets. It tasted good too. Not chalky at all.

    1 Week post-op and failing

You sound just like me. I was drinking premier protein and it wasn’t going down. This morning I tried a sample of Unjury with almond milk and it didn’t hurt. I can only drink 2 oz at a time, but it doesn’t hurt. No cramping when swallowing. Yay! I hope you find something that works soon. I feel your pain.
  3. I wish the stay in the hospital was longer. The pain meds are better and it was easier to move around. At home it is much more difficult. Thank you for whoever told me to buy gas x. It’s saving me right now. Pain pills are terrible and too tough to take for not much help. I’ve switched to liquid Tylenol as it’s easier and takes the edge off.

    Any April 2018 Sleevers?!?!

popsicles are the best right now Jello isn’t doing it for me either. It takes me 30 minutes to eat my popsicle but it felt good.

    Any April 2018 Sleevers?!?!

Today is tough. 2nd day Home post op. I stopped taking pain pills because they make me feel worse. I had to cut the pills and take a piece every 15 minutes. It took 2 hours. They didn’t help the pain and made me hot. I’m just sipping water and broth. I know this will get better. So far they stopped all my diabetes meds so that’s a win I’m holding on to. Each day will get better, but whoever thinks this is the easy way out is flat out wrong.

  7. It’s probably frustrating for you, but they are trying to help you be successful. I’m sure we will all have our ups and downs. Remember we are worth it.

    Any April 2018 Sleevers?!?!

I have the same restrictions. You need to be off pain meds first. My nurse said your body is healing and it would hamper your progress if you were in a accident. We can’t trust the other drivers out there.

    Any April 2018 Sleevers?!?!

Thank you. I made it through day 1. Swallowing isn’t bad, I just have to remember tiny sips or I feel like major heartburn for a minute. It’s weird that I can feel the fluid going into my stomach. I’ve also had the nicest nurses ever.
  10. I’m doing great so far I’ve been on several walks already. Thank you for the advice.

    Any April 2018 Sleevers?!?!

Started the day in surgery prep with a power outage, so surgery was delayed an hour. After surgery(thank goodness) there was an earthquake. This goes with my crazy life ) I’m doing great so far. Surgery was 9 hours ago. I’m taking pain meds and drinking fluids very slowly. I’m also able to walk pretty good. Thanks for your support. We’re all in this together [emoji322]
  12. Thank you to everyone commenting on this site. All the information you shared has helped me prepare. I am ready. See you soon.

    Any April 2018 Sleevers?!?!

    Today’s the day. So excited!!!
  14. That is definitely my plan. Thank you for your support.
  15. Thank you so much. I’m so excited, I have barely slept the past few days.
  16. My surgery is tomorrow and I’m having both done. My doctor said as long as I can swallow and keep fluids down I’ll be released the next day.

    Cigna Question

Jumping through hoops helps you know you’re willing to do the work. I started this process in June. My surgery is on Thursday. I know I’m ready now. It is a lot of work, but so far it’s worth it.

    Any April 2018 Sleevers?!?!

Not bad. Day 3 was the hardest craving wise. I added 3 servings of Metamucil on day 6 to help with constipation and on day 8 started doing miralax at bedtime. The constipation has been the worst part.

    Any other April 2018 Sleevers?

Does your protein shake have enough protein? I’m on day 10 of my pre-op diet. I can’t wait for my surgery on Thursday, 4/5.
  22. The doctors are actually recommending it because many people start having signs at age 40. Insurance recommends 50 to save them money. My husband had stage 3 cancer and ended up with a permanent colostomy at age 50. Okay, I'm off my soap box. Colonoscopies save lives.
  23. Thank you. I needed this. I’m one week away, April 5th is my surgery.

    Any April 2018 Sleevers?!?!

Coffee worked this morning but I’m trying not to drink coffee since the caffeine can lead to dehydration. I’m hoping the Metamucil makes a difference.

    Any April 2018 Sleevers?!?!

I haven’t had that issue. Make sure you get plenty of fluids. I’m on day 5 and had a bad case of constipation. Luckily that’s over. I have now added Metamucil.
