  1. Hi ya'll. I'm kinda having a hard time right now and no one around me seems to understand. I just don't feel happy with my progress. I've gotten some compliments and I notice a slight difference but I still feel like I should be losing weight much faster.

I'm almost 6 months out of surgery. I had surgery may 22nd and I weighed 363, I now weigh 285 and It seems like I should be wayyy smaller than that by now. I have an appointment with my doctor in 2 weeks and I'm afraid to see him because I feel that he may be disappointed in me. I sometimes workout and then ill stop for weeks at a time. My doc told me to never count calories or weigh things because thats like a diet and they don't want me to feel like I'm on a diet. I don't overeat and everyone says I barely eat now. I don't know if I'm developing some type of body dysmorphia because I still feel the same amount of fat. I don't know what to do.

Just based on y'all knowledge is 78 pounds 6 months out good?

I’m the same. My surgery was 5/25 and I’m a mini gulper already with no discomfort. Are you active? I’m in NYC and have been all over the city walking since I was discharged. That could have something to do with it. Lol, maybe we’re just cyborgs.

You’re already exercising? That’s amazing! I was gonna start walking at the park the 1st of June.

  3. Hey everyone :)

I’m in the purée stage of my gastric sleeve diet and I was wondering how long should it take me to eat 2oz of chicken salad?

Since I’ve had my surgery, my stomach only felt swollen for a couple of days and now I’m able to eat yogurt way faster. Apparently it takes some people a couple of hours to finish such small amounts, but not me. Is that normal?

I also can gulp liquids just fine and it doesn’t give me much discomfort (maybe a few burps)

is it possible my surgeon left too much stomach, or is this normal?

Hi. I had the test done with a nuclear egg( not a fan) you get an image of the food in your stomach to the intestinal track every hour. If after Four hours & the food is still in the stomach they consider you to have gastroparesis or some type of slow gastric emptying. From what I’ve read about Gastric sleeve it seems to actually help the problem I read articles on it if you Google it you may read about the advantages. Hope all goes well for you.

Thank you so much! I’ve been so worried that it may cause a delay in me getting the surgery. I will go read the articles right now. Thanks again! :)

  5. Hey everyone!

I just had an EGD done with my surgeon and he said my stomach was full of food. The last thing I ate was at 11:45 last night and they said not to eat after 12am. The egd was at 7 something am!

Have any of y’all ever had to take this step? (Gastric emptying study) and any idea on what’s it like and what it means for my sleeve surgery? Please help if you can :)

Hi, the same thing happened to me. It was too close to call as far as giving my job off notice so I had to resubmit and it was approved in about two days after being resubmitted. I was told usually once you're approved if needed to be resubmitted for a date a little farther out it's usually not a problem as long as it's not too far out. My schedule was scheduled for a month out from the original day I giving. Hope this can ease your anxiety some.

Sent from my SM-G960U using BariatricPal mobile app

It does! Thank you so much.

  7. Have any of y’all ever had to get a second approval from the insurance company because of a changed surgery date?

My surgery is approved for March 29 but I haven’t done the EGD yet and that’s scheduled for April 6th. When I talked to uhc today they said that the doctor will have to resubmit for approval of the new date and my doctors office won’t do that until after the endoscopy (April 6th). Is that normal?

  8. So I was approved, had to call to find out. I didn’t get an online approval letter from UHC. I called my surgeons office to schedule the surgery (like they told me I could) but now they’re saying before I can schedule the surgery I have to have my endoscopy and the results from that and that’s really annoying because some people get their surgery scheduled while still doing their supervised diet.

Its also annoying because uhc says my surgery is approved for 3/29-3/30 and any date after that they’ll have to resubmit for approval.

I’m getting tired of this whole process at this point. My endoscopy is scheduled for April 6.

That makes no sense that the insurance company won't talk to you. I have UHC and I knew that I was approved before the Dr knew. They called to see if I wanted to enroll in an optional program for WLS patients. I asked if I had been approved. He put me on hold for about 2 minutes and then came back and told me that I was.

You need to call them back and ask for a supervisor if needed. This is your health info and if anyone should have access, it is YOU!

One more thing. I did get a copy of the approval letter in the mail. That took about a week and a half though. I feel sure that they will mail you a letter one way or the other. But, it is your info and you have the right to know by calling them.

Thank you. I’ll call as soon as they open Monday morning and ask to speak to a supervisor.

  10. I have a big impatience problem, I know. But this surgery is WAY TOO IMPORTANT for me to not be freaking out about how long it’s taking!

My doctors office submitted my information to the insurance company on March 1. The insurance lady went on vacation and will be gone to June 1st. The office manager won’t answer her phone and won’t call me back. And the insurance company won’t tell me anything.

From what I’ve read on here and other forums, uhc takes a few days to approve and some people have gotten approval in one day. It’s going on 9 days and still no approval!!!

    Agree with Creekimp.

It may cause a bit of a later surgery date, but in the end you would be getting what you wanted so it would be worth it. Call the surgeon’s office as soon as you can and discuss your concerns. It shouldn’t be a huge issue really as most bariatric surgeons perform both surgeries.

Make sure you let us know what happens.

Thanks y’all! I’ll call them first thing Monday morning. I’ll keep everyone updated :):)
