Hi everyone! I finally have my surgery date set for April 4th! I set everything up with the surgery coordinator at my surgeons office and then asked what I should start eating and she said “ ask your nutritionist.” I was pretty shocked by this. I was expecting a packet maybe, with a specific plan but nope nothing. She was kinda rude about me not choosing a nutritionist at the same hospital. Anyways my nutritionist has really been more of a therapist and hasn’t had experience with bariatric surgery patients.

Does anyone still have their pre op diet plans that they could text/ email me a picture of? I’m struggling to find info on the internet and I want a good plan to follow.

also anyone here struggle with low sugar drops while trying to eliminate carbs/ sugar? This week I’ve tried to reduce sugar and carbs and feel a little dizzy, shaky in the afternoon so I end up eating something sugary to take the shaking away. Any advice?

I started my pre-op diet yesterday. 1 week before my surgery on 3/28. I have 2 Premier Protein shakes per day 4 to 5 hours apart. I can also have coffee, 1-2 cups broth, low calorie drinks, sugar free Jello and sugar free ice pops. Also tons of Water. Hope this helps. Good luck.

I have read through this and I only half way understand it ( I also have a college degree am I nuts?) My dr says Aetna only needs 4 consecutive months of dietitian and this says 6?? Nothing about 2 years... for my situation I don’t think... I’ll call them again... they are not so great on the phone.

I just got approved!!!!!!!!!!!!! That was so fast. I sent you a private message with info.

  3. I have been at the 40 the whole time. Originally I thought I was 38 but for whatever reason the DR had the incorrect height in the system when he calced my BMI and i was actually at 40 (I should have done it myself). So because i thought i was under to begin with I never tried to loose any weight and I had to go for a sleep study(so annoying). Then my original nutritionist didn't really do what she was supposed to do so I had to switch last week (no weigh ins). So I am basically praying that it all works it self out. If I get approved with all these crazy circumstances, I would think you would have no problems.

I would think they would submit you at 40 BMI. The doctors are trying to help you and know the insurance companies play stupid games.

I'll let you know when I hear back.
