Good luck on your journey! I wish I was up and taking selfies six hours after surgery! I was still in la la land.

not too bad the only pain I feel is the co2 in the abdomen and chest, feel like I can't burp, but the initial walk around the recovery floor is alleviating that... honestly the worse part by far was the anticipation and fear. Thanks Dr. Mir Ali and the staff at Fountain Valley Regional... it's been a great experience this far

The struggles I have overcome in the past year were being sedentary and almost bed bound for 7 years. I had to relearn how to walk more than to the bathroom! Had to learn to stand longer than 3 minutes! I had a low ejection fraction and Fluid in the sac around my heart and a fibrous growth attached to it and the pericardium. It made it hard to move and catch my breath. I was always winded and always exhausted and had very high pain levels for multiple reasons. I also had bad MSSA infection and out of control lymphedema in my left arm. And my blood sugar had gone to pot. My blood pressure was routinely 180/110 despite being on 2 medicines--and then a third med. I couldn't sleep longer than 1-2 hours at a time and usually slept less than 4hours per night.
I began by just getting up! Making myself cook rather than eat crap food from a dollar menu. I then started walking--first 5 minutes, then 10 and so on. I put myself on a ridiculous post op progression! So at first was eating 360 cals a day from 2 Protein Drinks and then progressed up the diet ladder as a post op would. So I've now done that progression twice, once pre-op and once as an actual post-op.
In the past year I went from bed ridden MSSA, no activity level to walking for 1 hour a day 7 days a week (2, 30 minute intervals where I walk 1 1/8 mile per interval), and PT that lasts for 1 1/2 hours -- 3 days per week. I now cook about 99% of our meals. And I can now sleep in 4-5 hour stretches. I'm now averaging about 6-7 hours of sleep per night. I'm about 4 lbs shy of having lost 100lbs during this last year (May 3, 2017). Although technically, my highest weight ever was 325. So I've already lost 134lbs.
(Oh, and I'm about to have my echo for this 6 months, but the last one showed a 10% improvement in my ejection fraction. )

BuzzVSG got a reaction from FluffyChix in Increased Sex Drive, better orgasms?
I am about 50 lbs down from my highest weight and about a month post surgery. My libido went from 0 to 500. Sometimes I think my water bottle is cute. Orgasms are through the roof. Three times a day at least. Sorry for the TMI. I can't wait to start dating again. But for now it's spanking the rabbi like an imprisoned Iraqi prisoner.

Love your euphemisms😛. As long as you don't feel like a rabbi in a mosque or a mouse at a kittycat convention we just might make it through okay. And maybe there is a Buzzmate just bout there somewhere looking for you. Wonder if there are senior level Bariatrics at the next Bariatric Convention, we over 50s get lonely too.👵👨

This is a side effect of surgery I haven't heard discussed...but it's definitely something that has occurred for me...so wanted to talk about it with anyone who is willing.
Don't mean to be graphic here...but I don't think it's just the extra confidence and improved body image that comes with weight loss. (in truth...there's a lot that's lookin a little saggy and comical these days...so there's a mixed bag of physical confidence.....and I've always had a great sex life with my hubby)
No, what I'm talking about....is actual sex drive. Biochemical physical capacity.
Not just more willingness to have or pursue sex....but more sensation. A deeper more spectacular orgasm. Does that make sense?
I mean...they do kinda wind down a little as you get older. Still great...but not like when you were a kid.
But lately, I feel like I'm revisiting that intensity.......from when we were young and crazy horny and an orgasm felt like a full sky grand finale of fireworks instead of a medium sized rocket and a couple of roman candles sputtering away at the end.
The big ones are back. Layers of Kaboom so loud you feel them and the whole sky lights up, explodes..and twinkles.
Honestly not meaning to write a sensational goofy post here.
This is just a curious observation, and I'd like to know if other people are experiencing this?
Have your orgasms gotten extra spectacular lately?

    I’m curious!
What is your goal weight? How tall are you? How much weight do you have to lose? What is your proudest NSV?
For those of you who have met your goal weight: How many pounds have you lost? How long did it take to reach your goal?
I’m 5’2”, starting at 240ish pounds, with an ultimate goal weight of 130

I haven't been tested, but I would be suprised if my T levels went up since surgery. While being obese definitely suppresses testosterone production so does operating on a big caloric deficit so I generally woudn't expect levels to increase until you have settled in closer to you equilibrium weight. That said everyone is different and there could be other reasons for increased T in the blood, that may or may not be related to the surgery. I'm not sure what your levels are or when your tests were, but stress could have suppressed your T levels in your earlier tests.
Either way Testosterone levels don't really matter that much unless they are too high or too low (and generally a diagnosis of "Low T" is just an excuse old men use to get some winnie (winstrol) from an unscrupulous doctor in Florida.
Either way congrats on the great progress so far.

    Hey fellas,
Post surgery, after weight loss, have you noticed your testosterone levels shoot up ? Mine have nearly doubled. I just got blood work back. Any experiences and insight are greatly appreciated.

This is very normal. I had the same Curiosity as you when I noticed that I could drink tons of Water. One day I tried gulping, low and behold, I could. I asked my Doc. He said there will be no restriction with water. The water passes through the pyloric valve quickly, which is why. I drink water before I eat, but never after due to food abstracting the valve. I wait one hour and then drink, this way my body absorbs the nutrition in the meal.

So drink away! And congrats on your recently weight loss. Well done!

My parents were not supportive at first. Why you ask ? Because their knowledge of the surgery stemmed from My 600 lb Life. I was below 300 lbs and they thought I was too small. It took them speaking to my surgeon and see what I go through to get behind me.
