    A Tad Concerned

I was hoping that was the case. As I feel better, the easier it is to drink 4 ounces an hour.
  2. Actually I have two questions. The first one is about protein, what are you guys using for protein ? I don't think I am getting enough protein. I just bought ensure protein in the bottle and am going to try that, hope it is not too rich for my stomach. Secondly, how are you guys doing with going number 2 ? I have been going at least once a day since 4. It is all liquid but weird, not to be disgusting. Just trying to understand my body.

    Any March 2018 Sleevers?

March 19th sleever here. Here is the way I see it. I have been using food my entire life to cope with things that I am at a point where I am just sick of it. I am sick of what I have done to my myself. The opportunities that I have missed. The shame and embarrassment of being overweight and the real stigma that exists. I just did something about it. I know it is only a tool but less then a week out, I feel like I have more energy. The pain is subsiding, and I can see a future. No one said this would be easy, but I am going to put in the effort and achieve my goal weight.
  4. I was nervous and on the verge of shaking being wheeled into the operating room last Monday. I know the anxiety is real. You are doing this for you. To feel better, to get better, to do things normally overweight people cannot do. It is a long and scary journey from what I read, but everywhere you look are support groups just like this one. Thing about how good you are going to feel after you shed some weight. That is what i do, and I am only one week out.

5 days out, 9 lbs down

Hi just checking in as well. I got sleeved on 03/19 as well. I am 14 lbs down. My diet consists of diluted gatorade, unsalted beef broth, cranberry juice and crystal lite in water. I have head hunger, hard to explain. I feel a lot better then I did last week, just some minor abdominal pain. I drove for the first time today also.
  6. Hello everyone. I hope everyone is having a good week. Monday, the 19th I had my gastric sleeve procedure. I thought I would share my experience thus far in case anyone has questions or if I have any questions. The surgeon was right on time, very encouraging and answered all my questions that I thought of last minute. The anesthesiologist as well was awesome. I was a little nervous going into the operating room but it turns out it was freezing. I woke up in recovery in pain, it was all over, my abdomen chest shoulders etc. The one thing that was good that I didn't experience any nausea whatsoever. The took care of that with medications so no dry heaving. The hospital was really full so I stayed in recovery for about 7 hours. I was also informed that I had a hiatal hernia that they took care of. After I finally made it to my room. They gave me these lip swabs to make my mouth moist. I then urinated for the first time. I then was in and out of it due to the pain medication. Things went well with me walking around and starting to drink 4 ounces an hour. The next day I was discharged. It wasn't until day 3 at home that I started releasing the gas. The poor dog ran for cover. But walking around and taking gas x really did the trick. Today is day five and I had my first post surgical BM. I am still struggling to drink 4 ounces an hour. I am doing my best. No more gas pain, just some pain around the abdominal area like I did 5000 crunches.

    5 Days Post Op

Thank you ! I also forgot to mention that I used to snore like a tank but was never diagnosed with sleep apnea. Now according to those around me I don't snore at all. Weird.

    Incision around navel

I just re-read the pro-surgical list of things to do, and of them is too "thoroughly clean out your belly button". Interesting.
  9. I am in New Jersey. My doctor said it wasn't necessary for me.
  10. I also was given a date before full authorization from Blue Cross. I finally got the letter I was approved 3 days ago and my surgery is on Monday. Total turnaround time about a month and a half.

    Secret sleevers?!

I have only told my parents (who aren't supportive), my sister, and my best friend. I don't want to tell anyone else. I have been heavy my entire life. I truly believe people treat you differently when you are overweight. They will see my progress and that is all they need to know.
  13. Hi everyone. I am scheduled for surgery this coming Monday and it is really starting to hit me. Throughout this process and research, I didn't have any fear, but now that is coming down to the wire, I am a tad nervous. I have watched many videos of peoples experiences and they vary. I have a few questions. - Do they insert a catheter? - Waking up from surgery, how bad is the pain ? - Am I really going to not want to eat the first few weeks? I have read some people become hungry in the liquid phase. - Men, typically how much did you lose the first two weeks. Thank you in advance who read this and will respond.
  14. Thank you everyone for sharing your personal experiences with me. I will check in after my surgery when I get back home hopefully Tuesday. Have a great weekend.
