  1. My surgeon told me that she will be using the Davinci Robot to perform my sleeve. I am afraid of that. What is she slips and makes a huge mistake. In addition she will be having a student Dr. assist her. Why me? So she put my surgery off until May 9. I read on here that the final weight is on the day of surgery. That doesn't make much sense. What if you are on the edge like me. I just barely qualify. Meaning my bmi just barely qualifies me. Any thoughts ?

I think you should have a say on rather or not a student Dr assist in on your surgery. There should be several qualified individuals there but I’d recommend you having that conversation with your surgeon if it makes you nervous. If it’s out of your hands just stay positive and know that everything will be just fine. The final weigh in on the day of surgery is definitely confusing and my question would be rather or not it is a determining factor of if the surgery happens? Do you have a coordinator you can speak with? I would ask and find out more about that part to if I were you.

  2. IMG_2496.JPG I wanted to share this with my April/May Sleevers!! I’m hoping I can find them in my local Sam’s Club since they are so new! Definitely something to consider on our liquid diets. Some new flavors and variety could be a good thing! I like options lol. As soon as I get a box I will do a review on my YouTube channel https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCoDS8UYKi9Wu1__0j9qJ8rA I already have my favorites so it would be nice to add more to the list #GoGetYouSome

  3. Oh wow I have Aetna too (POS II) I am also doing the 3 month multi disciplinary program. In order to get the initial consultation I had to see a quality of excellence center. So the first original Bariatric center I went with they would not allow me to move forward with because it was not a quality center of Excellence. So I had to call Aetna and get the locations in my city that were. Since then I haven’t had any issues and I really hope I do not run into any. My requirements are pretty much the same as yours. 3 month Nutrition Visits, Psych Evaluation, 1 support meeting and PCP medical clearance.

Also at my pcp appointment I got my EKG and blood work done. I haven’t gotten a chest X-ray but if it’s necessary I will do whatever else needed. I have done a few other test requested by my surgeon as well.

  4. I have Aetna and it was actually even hard for me to get approved for my initial consultation with my bariatric surgeon. I got denied twice, and took it up with the state (requested an external review). The external review overturned the decision of my insurance plan!
Im doing the 90 day multi-disciplinary regimen which requires the below. Luckily, im not required to go to my PCP's office every time to get a montly weigh in. Its nerve wrecking around this period because supposedly you cant gain weight or lose too much.
    1. Psych eval
    2. 3 x Nutrition visits (Once a month)
    3. 1 Support group meeting
Once approved for surgery, you have to scramble to get the below done in a timely manner:
    1. EKG
    2. Chest X-Ray
    3. Pre-op Blood Work
I've heard of Aetna denying people for random stuff before surgery so im getting ready to take it up with the state again. I don't even mess around with insurance. I learned if Insurance is giving me a hardtime, to just file a complaint with a DMHC. Insurance is in the business of denying people to keep their money.

  5. Hey Becky,
I have my last nutrition visit in April too and we have the same name!! Wooo hoo. April 2nd is my last nutrit. and paperwork submital date. My weightloss coordinator suggest on 4/02 I start the 2 week pre-op liquid, so by the time I get approved for surgery I would already be on the liquid diet and could schedule surgery date as soon as early as possible. Im excited to be on this journey and can't wait!!

Yayyy!! Has your insurance requirements been pretty strict? I know everyone experiences have been different but I know we all have the same thing in common..”Determination”!! We are going to do what we need to do to reach our goal and succeed in this journey!

  6. I have always been a fashionista. I have so many adorable clothes from over the years that I cannot fit anymore. So those are two more things to look forward to.
    Wearing cute outfits again.
Being able to wear high heels again.

I definitely am too!! I even have some goal clothes I am going to purchase!! I haven’t been able to dress how I want for so many years I can’t wait to feel comfortable in what I buy and wear again!!

  7. What are you guys looking forward to most after surgery? Let's keep the inspiration up. For instance...
    Crossing my legs again.
    Painting toes without any hassle.
food not being on my mind constantly.
My contour on my makeup being emphasized more.
Snapchat filter not slimming my face but instead it's done naturally.
    Wearing shorts again.
Not being looked at weird because I'm a chubby girl wanting a salad.< br> Not hiding my body under layers of clothing.
Not having only my face complimented.
Not being embarrassed to run on the treadmill because my weight makes me feel like I'll break it.
Not being looked at weird in the gym.
    Saving money on groceries.
Bending over to tie my shoes without being breathless.
Not having my heart pound out of my chest when I am walking fast.

How about you guys? Anything you're looking forward to? No matter how silly!

Omg yes anything that requires bending comfortably (shoe tying and toe polishing), leg crossing and I would love to play outside with my kids without tapping out so soon.

  8. Hi Becky,
I subscribed to your YouTube channel and liked your videos. I think this is something you should definitely keep doing. Your videos are great and real! I can't wait to see what you upload in the future.
    #supporting each other

Yay thanks for the support!! We all need it in some way! I got your back too

Hi there... I am in Jacksonville Fl!! I will be done with my last Nutrition Visit in April with a projected surgery month of May. No exact date yet but I can’t wait to get closer and find out :)

  10. My Gastric Sleeve surgery is set for April 2018. My journey began in June 2017. I was a go getter from the start and completed everything as soon as I could. I knew I probably drove my doctor's nuts but I was determined to finish this one way or the other. Unfortunately, my drive was not enough and I was stuck waiting on everyone else with long wait lists, not hearing back timely, etc. 10 months later I am getting the surgery.
I cried when I got my surgery date. It all started from one phone call after years of diet, exercise, personal trainers, pills, doctor appointments, before I got the urge to Google possible options. I had never had surgery aside from my wisdom teeth removed and so this was a huge leap of courage. I found out all the requirements, looked up a surgeon and program that could do it, contacted my insurance company found out any other remaining information, verified surgeon and program were in network, and kept on running ever since.
I am terrified for this surgery but mostly its because nothing is certain. I am the type of girl that creates a spreadsheet to clear my mind. I love plans, numbers, details, and viewable goals. There is nothing I can plan with this. I have watched almost every YouTube video out there, done countless hours and days of research, have 2 binders made up organized into tabs and stages, and have kept up to date with many forums.
I however have not really posted to many forums until now. So I think instead of taking this scary, crazy, unbelievable, amazing journey alone, I could be in contact with some amazing people starting their journey's around mine so that I can not feel so overwhelmingly alone during this process..
My husband no matter how sweet he may be is tall, and skinny and will not understand the restrictions I am under. I have told very little people about this surgery and they are to keep it surgery however these friends and family will not be able to understand anything I'm going through.
I love to offer support and am excited to begin this journey with you guys.
Let's be strong and change our lives together!!!!!

I love your realness and we can relate in so many ways. I’m use to being in control of everything I do and this is the one thing that I’m doing for myself that I don’t know the absolute outcome of. Though my wife is very supportive of my journey she too will never understand my struggles and what led me here. She’s always been slim and never had any real issues with her weight. I have watched many hours and hours of YouTube videos with every person journey under the sun. Which eventually inspired me to vlog my own story. I am interested in seeing how much things change within myself and hopefully help others along the way. I have told very little people about my decision and journey so unless they find my channel it would be news to them. I think the support forums are great and it’s amazing to find those who are riding that same wave as you. So definitely keep us updated because I’m interested in finding out how things are going! I think we all made a great decision in taking the steps to a better us

Yayyyy that’s so exciting! You are super close! Keep me posted on approval and surgery date

  12. I have a history of horrendous cycles and I have an appointment Monday to finally get an IUD (Mirena). I told my surgeon of my plan at our first initial appointment and he said it would not be a concern. I’m really hoping this is the answer to all the issues I have with my cycle but at the same time I don’t want any interference with my Weight loss/VSG process. Just wondering if any of you ladies who have or have had IUD notice any changes since surgery. Should I wait to get the IUD til afterwards or go with my initial plan? I figure if my surgeon isn’t concern I shouldn’t be but I can’t help but wonder anyway.

  13. So many great forums and groups to link up with I’m new and already a little addicted to this app as well as everyone’s story and journey. My journey began early January and my projected surgery date is in May. I love to link up with others who are dates are close to mine just to encourage each other. I started vlogging my journey on YouTube right from the beginning so if anyone is interested check it out https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCoDS8UYKi9Wu1__0j9qJ8rA

I plan to continue sharing up to and well after surgery all my feelings and experiences. Hopefully it helps someone like me or not like me at all. I’m So happy for everyone taking charge of their lives! We are incredible people.

  14. I'm sorry to hear that your psych eval was rescheduled. Hopefully you can catch up with the psychologist so that things can continue to go smoothly for you. My psych eval went very smoothly, she gave her approval on the first visit. what channel on YouTube? i want to follow your progress. [emoji3]. I am so excited for us....[emoji3]

Girl we never did scheduled lol she just disappeared lol. Never even made it that far. I will give her a little while longer before I move on to another one lol.

  15. Welcome to the group BeckyVSG2b, I started my journey in January also. My estimated surgery date should be around June. I have completed my Psych Eval and now I just have 3 more nutritionists visits. I see we both are on our way to a new beginning. [emoji4]

Yay I’m so excited! I will keep checking here for your progress. I started vlogging my journey on YouTube I’m so excited to see how things change for me. How did the Psych Eval go for you? Everything has been smooth up until now. My Psychologist have been missing in action. We were suppose to schedule an appointment almost two weeks ago and I cannot reach her. In a few more days I am reaching out to another one but I don’t want to seem impatient since I still have a few months til surgery.
