You’ll feel it once you’re eating solid food. I was like you with liquids :)

Exactly. Always weigh . For me it’s 3-4 oz but that may mean different volume of up to a cup so just be waryOn 09/02/2018 at 12:33, MarinaGirl said:
Just because you can eat a lot doesn’t mean you should. During surgery, many nerves are cut, which makes it possible to overeat in the early stages as you may not feel much restriction. Don’t try to test your limits or seek fullness; instead, measure your food with a scale and only eat appropriate amounts per the stage you’re in. Eye balling portion sizes is a poor strategy as we weren’t very good at it pre-WLS. Therefore, until we’re in maintenance mode and have months/years of practice weighing our food we can’t just guess.

“Can anyone help I’m 3 days post roux n Y gassy still retching up phlegm and stomach cramps can’t even lay half way down on liquids need help to get stool , relax stomach so I can heal my throat is sore from retching up all this mucous” -
You’re doing just fine. As Matt said— I too could eat more than others. Main point is make sure the food counts- ie lean Proteins. I’m about 8 months post and eat about a cup - have been since very early on . Doesn’t seem to be slowing my progress- everyone is different.
You’re doing great :)Kcoley reacted to this -
It gets easier and better after day 5... hang in thereOn 09/02/2018 at 02:38, Auroragirl4489 said:
Yeah definitely regretting it. Had surgery on 8/28. Everything is hurting, I’m so nauseous and unable to drink much. I know this a process but now it seems like too muchAuroragirl4489 reacted to this -

I thought of it as a success and a determination lifestyle statement that I will never ever need to keep my closet full of what ifs and if I need that size agains .... it was liberating. Be proud of yourself and refuse to ever think that way again
Get rid of them ... know that you’re donating them to someone who could use them

Congrats! It definitely gets more normal and like you didn’t have surgery after day 5 :)

I’m sorry you’re going through that- please reach out to counseling. What you’re experiencing with removing yourself from family etc doesn’t sound healthy or typicalOn 08/31/2018 at 18:37, T said:
Wow I’m 4 wks post n feeling the same way. Like what did I do but I know that these feelings will pass. food was a big party of my life n social life now I feel like I’m lost. I don’t even want to cook for my family for fear I’ll flip back into being a foodie. I eat at my desk at work n go straight to my room when I get home. I don’t interact w my young son or husband. Not sure what to do.

I forgot my lunch today but of course I had what I thought were healthy Snacks. However… I did not realize I was eating 3 ounces of dried seasoned chickpeas (which by the way are ridiculously good!)
… Healthy option right? Yes… But high in calories if you eat three servings! I just ate 512 cal of chickpeas… Holy crap. Essentially an ounce and a half for lunch and outs and a half for snack throughout the day.
Of course in perspective could’ve been Cookies ha ha

I didn’t tell any of mine either- just my husband (obv).
My family and everyone else think I’m seeing a nutritionist , changing my eating amounts -frequency and types of foods...and hitting the gym (crazy amount of cardio)— all of which true.
8 months out and all good :) -

Besides a ride home - no need for anyone to care for you. Just make sure you’re not lifting anything heavy aka go grocery shopping before

Yes! With needing all new clothes and new found ability to wear more clothes it’s so easy to get addicted! On 08/13/2018 at 13:56, abefroman329 said:
One of my recent support groups talked about addiction transference, in particular, shopping. I was thinking how easy it would be to become addicted to shopping, considering the fact that, with incredibly rare exceptions, I can walk into almost any store and buy almost any item of clothing they sell in my size.

Congrats to you both! My Bypass was very uneventful and a breeze so I wish that for you two as well! There may be a bit more discomfort due to band removal but you’ve got this. Gas day 1 was the worst but just get up and move ASAP and it makes its way through
